Must have Surf watch
I tried Garmins surf watch first. It was unbelievably terrible and inaccurate.(their surf app that is). I returned that watch and bought RipCurls Search GPS. It is hands-down the Most Accurate, Reliable, and Durable Surf watch I’ve used yet. If you are looking for a “Surf watch” look no further. This watch takes your already fun surf session into an amazing adventure!

Very finicky to use, but great if you like the data
2 stars might be extreme but I have been using this for around a year I think and have constant sync issues with the watch and app where I have to close the app a bunch of times and re pair the watch as it just won’t see it from the app. Even after the latest update.
I think the data shown through the watch and app are great, eg design and such is good (although people I have unfollowed still show in the list and I can’t remove them, eg tester mctestingson) . But ultimately the user experience is very much let down by how difficult it is to sync. Auto syncing should be the standard IMO, manually syncing ultimately renders the on watch surf report unnecessary as well - since it takes far less time to check Surfline directly.

Buggy, terrible watch doesn’t work
The watch barely ever works. The app is terrible. I regret ever having bought this watch. Ripcurl has been unresponsive with any fixes or help. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.wakestar

It used to was great but now after updated, it takes over 40min to synchronize surf and update satellite data. It feels that the watch needs a firmware update as well as the appMacReza

Very disappointing that obvious bugs are not being fixed. The 28 day, YTD and All Time calculations do not work. I can’t understand why they wouldn’t fix this - it’s a very simple calculation. I get the sense Rip Curl just don’t care about their watch or this app anymore.....
Some bugs fixed but other remain. For example days surfed is incorrect.
Update - Ripcurl seem to have completely abandoned this product yet they continue to sell the watch. Very disappointing. It’s really not hard to fix the basic like a correct count of the days surfed ?Show lessmeyouithemus

I got the watch a few weeks ago and have been trying to sign up and it has been giving a pop up saying “oops something went wrong”. If i knew the app did not work i would have not bought the watch. And i send an email a while ago and i have not received any answer. Fix it!!!Dmoto135
