  • Great implementation!

This is a great implementation of the card game. The only caveat is when you have cards with special abilities. I have accidentally made a selection that wasn’t intended and there wasn’t the ability to undo my selection. That’s frustrating because I’ve lost attack points for that.

It has some technical issues with online play, but it’s as smooth as can be for remote play. It could be dependent on network issues. There were some pretty long pauses trying to sync between turns. I’ve had to restart the app a couple times to get it to recognize it was my turn. I checked on different devices, one shows it’s my turn while the other shows a blue circle in the bottom left of the screen. I’ve also had it get stuck in an infinite loop not letting me take my turn but it kept showing the “next game” button. When I click the button, it deals my cards, but doesn’t allow me to continue my turn. It still shows the “next game” button.

Overall a great app for playing alone or with friends online. I’ve not participated in any challenges or tournaments.

  • Good game just needs a few tweaks

I absolutely love playing this game, and I will eventually buy the full version, the only thing I think it could learn from its other variant, called Hero Realms is the ability to undo certain actions, sometimes you will mistakenly purchase something or scrap a card you didn’t want to and there’s no way of undoing it which is frustrating because these are things you could do in person. And I’m not talking about changing your mind about purchasing something from the middle but the explorers, sometimes I’ll missing quick one, but there’s no way to go back, and now I’ve spent part of the money I was going to use to buy a bigger ship and now I can’t afford it lol it’s an easy fix the mechanics from the newer here around’s game just needs to be flipped over to Star Realms

  • The best card game for your buck

If you want a card game where you don't have to build decks, where you don't have to log in every day to do daily quests, where you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on building a competitive deck, where your opponent can't buy a better deck than you and win - this is the game for you!

The base game gives you a feel for the gameplay. The full game costs $5, no gambling with packs, no $60 bundle every quarter and just $5 unlocks all base cards.

I also counted how much it would cost to buy all available expansions (you don't need them for PvP, as you can start playing against people with the base set), and it is lower than any expansion bundle in other card games.

And as for PvP, your opponents will be using the same set of cards as you, so there won't be a situation where they bring some Ultra Mega Spell that wipes out your entire deck. Everything is fair!

  • One of my favorites!!

I love board games and have owned more than 400. Star Realms is one of my favorites, and there’s no deck builder my family and I would rather play. It’s that good!

So what hooked me? Well for starters, I first played it here for free.

There’s so much to like about this game. I love the factions and all the different synergies. I love the bases. I love how much the designers packed into this game while keeping the mechanics super streamlined and intuitive. The iconography is easy to understand and we rarely have questions about the rules (not so with other deck builders). I love the space theme, and I REALLY appreciate the family friendly art. This is a game we can ALL enjoy.

The app is great. It is intuitive and works well. Thanks for the “Pass and Play”! I’m not sure why many apps don’t have it, but we appreciate it.

Although the free version is awesome, after many plays we finally bought Colony wars. We loved that so much, I went to my local board game store and bought a physical copy of Frontiers (and the base game). Frontiers adds lots of new ways to play the game and most of them are great, but we especially love the co-op versions. My family and I mostly play competitively, but the co-ops in Frontiers are a fun twist to play sometimes.

  • Missing one essential detail

I loved the star realms game and have played countless times with my friends. Decided to try the app and I love the interface. Super easy to click on cards to enlarge them, smooth gameplay with some neat graphics here and there. However, one of my favorite parts of star realms is looking through my and my opponents deck afterwards to see how the deck panned out. After a game ends, it immediately brings you to the main screen. I wish there was a breakdown screen of the game where you could click on stuff and see stats from that game and look through each deck.

  • The new update that just came out is the worst ever

I like this game and I dumped a lot of money in it now and this next update it Hass to be on the Internet all the time to download the cards it’s not that fun waiting.
He used to take this to places that didn’t have the Internet so I could enjoy this game. I can no longer do that because if it’s not hooked up to the Internet it will not display the game cards properly.
I really wish they would go back to the old gaming system it was much better than this one.
It would play with the cards that were downloaded on your iPad.
I really hope the programmers would redo the damage they’ve done.

  • AI? Hardly.

One of the worst single player experiences I have ever had with a game. There is zero chance that there is any AI involved with this game. The probability of the CPU getting exactly what cards it needs to win to infuriating common. In as few as four rows it can have its deck set up to roll you. So, if you’re a masochist, this is the game for you. Poor executed product compared to the actual card game. The on-line experience is okay, but most players take forever to make their moves, so if you’re the kind of person who loves queuing in line, then this is a similar experience, and you lol love it.

  • Solid game needing minor improvements

I love Boardgames and card games. I especially love app versions that allow me to play my favorite games on my own, when traveling, etc. and this app does a fantastic job of being the star realms deck builder to an app. The campaign was a great idea to add to the app version. I have minor complaints about the game operation but that doesn’t break the game at all. My biggest issue is that unless you are manually refreshing the online multiplayer screen, by the time you actually get the notification you are in a match, you will have missed a turn or two. It’s minor because you can do the manual refresh but until I figured that out I lost several matches because I came into the game late.

    Otherwise, great job developers.

  • Really nice space combat game

Yes it’s cards, but it really does feel like a space fleet battle with bases and ships. Faster than a lot of deck builders, each game takes only a few minutes, but plenty of strategy and depth. The card art is great and the info on each card well presented. The gameplay is 5 stars, but the interface could learn a lot from Ascension. It’s perfectly fine, just not as polished. For example, when you zoom a card to review it, you can’t just take it or play it from there, you have to unzoom first. Ascension lets you select or play right from the zoom. You can only see 5 played cards at a time, where Ascension fills the screen width and then scrolls between them more easily. Things like that lowered my overall rating, but really they’re minor. The game is exactly what I expected from the description, so if it sounds like your kind of fun, get it! No ads, no pay to win, fair prices for the many offered expansions. This is how apps should do business and it’s a solid game to boot.

  • Beautiful Port of My Favorite Deck-Builder

I’ve been playing this game for nearly a year-and-a-half, and I have almost 5000 games logged against other players (which doesn’t include the number of games I’ve played in Campaign Mode or against the AI). I truly love this game.

There is a lot of free content in this game, and all expansions are reasonably priced (generally in the $3 to $5 range). It’s incredibly economical for the amount of play you get.

Additionally, the developers update the game with quality-of-life updates fairly frequently. (In a recent update they made some very nice changes to menus and scrolling functions.)

You can always chat with the creators during their weekly Twitch streams, and the communities that I’ve found for Star Realms players are hugely supportive.

If you like collectible card games or deck-builders, this game is a must.
