Youโ€™ll end up having to dispute everything

Recently was looking for flights on one of the most common flight routes on earth. Tried multiple times to get a flight and continued to just say unavailable, even after searching multiple times, restarting the app etc.

Until it goes through to the payment page charges me for a flight, then forgets about the existence of that booking even though the money was taken from my account. Desperately still needing a flight I try again and again, until one goes through takes my money now more expensive and a worse flight time. And the booking just says pending.

Canโ€™t contact them unless youโ€™re in the US, Canada, or through โ€œSKYPEโ€๐Ÿ˜‚

Literal night mare now Iโ€™m without money for two flights and not sure whether I should book a third flight because this one probably wonโ€™t go through.

Want a change in itinerary? Not possible

I read other peopleโ€™s comments that when it comes to change in itinerary, Hopper is horrible. Well I booked a flight earlier this year and it went well because I didnโ€™t have to contact them for anything.

Now I have booked another flight with them in this Dec but need to change the departure date. Itโ€™s been 3 days and they have no idea why Airline is rejecting their request. By the way, they canโ€™t make any changes to the ticket, they have to contact their partner. U can imagine, it adds another hop between u and airline. Even their supervisors involved but in vain. They will promise you that you will be contacted via phone or email but nope, they will never contact u. On every call, their agent has raised a new request, I think 7 times. But same reply that partner has cancelled the request, we apologise for the inconvenience. Unfortunately apologies donโ€™t resolve the issue.

So if u think u might have to change your itinerary, donโ€™t go with Hopper. I am telling you they are horrible.

Customer service really lacking

New add on: I am seeing โ€œoops that price is no longer availableโ€ constantly now and sudden price changes for both flights and hotels. Iโ€™m starting to lose trust in hopper as the misleading prices are sketchy.

I love this app, I really do. They actually do find the best prices and I book through them all the time. But their customer service is terrible. There is no phone number and it can take them hours or even days to respond to a simple request. Today itโ€™s a booking I just want to cancel. I even bought the โ€œcancel for any reasonโ€ add on and yet my message sits and sits unanswered. Thereโ€™s also a couple tricks to be aware of - like how price freeze says it gives you a discount. The discount is the amount you pay to freeze it that applies towards your balance, you donโ€™t actually save any additional money. The VIP support add on costs extra and is not always even helpful. If the airline delays or cancels your flight then steps in and reschedules you hopper will tell you itโ€™s โ€œin the airlineโ€™s handsโ€ even if you buy add ons to protect your trip. Research add ons carefully, once youโ€™ve bought them all youโ€™re no longer saving and may as well use a different site or app! TLDR, if youโ€™re 100% confident in a trip or have days to wait to cancel it, definitely use this app because you actually will get the best prices. Just beware that customer service and be wary of the add ons.

Great app!

Been using Hopper for a while looking at when is the best time to fly and it has been very helpful in showing the cheaper times of the year to fly. I had never booked anything until I used it for car hire on a recent trip to Canada. It offered up by far the cheapest service we could find. I was suspicious as it was almost to easy to book but the car hire was exactly as advertised. Picked up the car with little issue and it was everything we needed for our road trip. Would highly recommend.

We recently had a house fire and had no choice but to stay in hotels. With us being a family of 5 suites seem to suit us best and hopper came through every time with the lowest rate of all 3rd party hotel apps and sites. Rate do change constantly but that's what makes it kinda fun. I find that 2AM I can get the lowest rate of the day, although that's not always the case. Not only that but on top of fire car broke down and Hopper had great deals for a rental for the week. They are always posting cheap flights and housing or hotels for a vacation or in my case ended up finding an apartment to stay in short term till we got are ducks in a row for the next step of are journey. I have never had a problem with them personally or had to call because they made a mistake. Just be careful when booking rooms that your reading the details correctly or call hotel and double check if you're unsure what a room type is. For example one time I booked us for a king suite. Thing separate king bedroom and sofa bed in living room..... and we walked in the room there was one king bed. What I should have clicked on was 1 bedroom king suite which had the separate bedroom and pull out couch for the kiddos in living room. All in all Thank you Hopper I couldn't have found a better site to use in this time of need for my family.

Great Flight App -

Booked my last Holiday in June through this app. Found it very easy to navigate and worked well for us. This app helped us with finding/booking into nearby activities as well as searching for accommodation.

Only one minor thing: the currency being in AUD instead of NZD but that couldโ€™ve easily been my fault for not double checking

False advertising and terrible customer service

Absolutely terrible customer service. Booked return flights on the website for $488 with the statement "this will be charged in AUD" written beneath it. $730 was taken from my account and the invoice I was emailed stated $488 "this will be charged in USD". No where on the website (absolutely no where!) is it advertised that they charge in USD and in fact, before I actually booked, it stated that I would be charged in AUD. After 1.5hrs on the phone with customer service I was essentially blamed for "misunderstanding" the website- apparently a $ sign is exclusive to the USD and I should have known they only charge in USD even though its not stated anywhere and even though it was explicitly written that Iโ€™d be charged in AUD!!! Absolutely exhausted by the end of the interaction and dissatisfied... was offered a $20 hopper credit ... when I expressed that this was not enough to rectify the false advertisement of price (I wouldnt have booked with them otherwise).. they said that since I didn't accept their gesture, the credit wouldn't be added haha at this stage had no energy to say anything more.. anyway.. absolutely pathetic.

Super Frustrated

Booked my flight using the hopper app. Adult with infant in lap. For whatever reason when I tried to check in on the carriers app(american) it would not assign me a ticket for my infant in lap. I even tried going to the carriers self service kiosk to print out a paper ticket, since I did not have any baggage to check, it was all carry-on, and it kept telling me there was an error and to see the person at the counter and while I did arrive two hours early, the line to speak with the counterperson was so long that by the time I got up to the counter to discuss it with somebody, I had missed my flight. Even if I had gotten to the counterperson in time, it took more than 20 minutes for them to figure out why it would not print or assign a ticket for the in lap infant. They ended up having to remove the infant from their system and re-enter the entire thing in order for it to assign a ticket. The counterperson advised me that it was having an error due to the manner in which it was booked. Which would be via hopper. I paid extra for โ€œcancel for any reasonโ€ which you can only do 3 hours prior, so too late do that. I also paid extra for delayed/canceled flight coverage which didnโ€™t apply in my circumstance. So me and my infant son ended up sitting at an airport for 10 hours(12 if you include the 2 hours I arrived early) because we couldnโ€™t get rebooked until then. Needless to say I wont be booking any in lap infant flights with hopper ever again.

Saves me time and money

Iโ€™ll start with the reasons for the loss of the star.
1. Sometimes the prediction of when to buy is not accurate. For instance, I was advised to wait for the price to drop to purchase a flight ticket but then when I was advised to โ€œbuy nowโ€ because the price wasnโ€™t bound to drop, it ended up being $10 more than if I had booked when I was going to initially. A $10 difference isnโ€™t a huge deal; it just felt a bit misleading. Similarly, sometimes the lowest available price shown for a flight is lower than the lowest actual lowest price available, which can be disappointing obviously. Lastly, and perhaps the most confusing for me is how the flight prices are color coded. Naturally one is inclined to think that red mean the flight cost will be most expensive; but Iโ€™ve come to learn than red (I think) actually means the cost of the flight is more expensive on that date than I guess it usually is to or from that airport. So in reality, a date color coded red could actually be more cost effective than a date color coded green if that date is usually pretty cheap on average. I havenโ€™t been able to crack the algorithm, so I would just advise everyone to always check all dates regardless of the color coding. In my opinion, it would be most helpful to the buyer if the color coding represented a general price range. All in all, hopper does the leg work for me and saves me a bunch of time which is why despite the aforementioned, I think they still deserve 4.5 โญ๏ธ.

Easy to use and helpful when finding when to book

Have been using this for years super easy to use the feature of knowing when prices increase and decrease is extremely helpful. Havenโ€™t booked through the app yet but thatโ€™s mostly because I like to book direct to get the most status and points.
