Logging in is a nightmare

This stupid app keeps randomly logging me out every now and then even though I’m not using all my allotted devices. There is no reason to be logged out randomly. This would be a minor nuisance if it weren’t for the fact that logging back in sometimes just doesn’t work. This has happened multiple times and each time seems to have a different error than the last time, sometimes I can figure it out and am able to sign in that day but not always. I use “sign in with google” and never had problems with it except on this app. This results in a device not having access for days or weeks at a time until it randomly decides to work again.

I tried all the solutions the devs replied to this review with before I posted my initial review to begin with. Currently, the app logged me out again for no reason like the garbage app it is and in the country I happen to be in right now it refuses to log me back in. This is not the first time this has happened, last time the second I was left this country it logged in no problem and considering I’m going to be here for a while for work I’m basically screwed and forced to get another VPN subscription. Out of all the vpn subscriptions Nord was the only one that consistently presents logging in issues and is not transparent about why it logs you out randomly to begin with.

Disappointed

The product was fine, however customer support is lacking. I purchased the product with the intention of using for just 1 month while travelling. No payment reminders are sent and you can’t manage your billing through the app. I had to search the FAQs on the website and login through the webpage for instructions on how to stop billing but I was unable to cancel in time and payment was still deducted from my account. The ‘customer support’ have refused to refund or provide any resolution for the extra period I was billed for. I feel deceived and therefore will find another service next time I require a VPN.

Good but sometimes buggy on iOS

Been using for years, very good when it works but it can be buggy on iOS devices occasionally meaning you can sometimes be exposed which is a huge security risk. I find sometimes it’ll just disconnect and I always feel I have to check the VPN is enabled regularly which isn’t piece of mind at all. Today I updated the app, afterwards I opened it up and it didn’t auto connect back to VPN, again is a security risk as although it was set to auto connect in all conditions (I.e. set to ‘Always’) it did not connect and I could still access the internet on my device - which shouldn’t be possible as the kill switch should have prevented me doing so - again a security risk. I tried to manually connect but just egg timed and timed out again leaving me exposed. Deleted the app and reinstalled and had same problem. After trying deleting and reinstalling a second time this did work. Bottom line, very good when it works but I think there is some serious testing and issues that need to be worked on with the iOS app, so unfortunately because of this you just need to have this in mind to check the connection regularly to make sure you’re connected.

Honestly the best

I’ve tried express, pia, and other “free” vpn’s and they actually can’t compare. They’re not terrible but not the best. Honestly free VON’s are why I wish I never tried them because they basically sell your data for money right behind your back which is the OPPOSITE of why you use a VPN. You don’t know where your personal data is going. I did some research on Nord, and discovered they are pretty much the only one with un-hackable software and security. I know we like to be skeptical, but I honestly feel like NordVPN does care. I also have had zero issues with data connection other than me needing to manually go into the application, and refresh my IP connection to a different server and it just works! It’s not just about being a customer, it’s about giving the people what they want when it comes to giving access in hopes of “is my data actually safe?” running in the back of my head. Who truly knows?…But if it’s genuinely protecting my data from lunatics on the dark web who want nothing more than to take away your personal information, then I say it’s 110% worth it. I feel like from someone who doesn’t really know too much about VPN’s, I’ve come to learn that if it’s protecting you from WiFi and other unsecured networks, and giving you A-Grade data connection to servers across the globe, keeping you online with top grade encryption and keeping your data safe…then that is what truly matters.

Used for years

I’ve used this vpn ever since my bank details were found on some random computer in a stolen car in an area I had never visited.
I don’t know how the details had been stolen but realised “it could happen to me”. So along with being very careful around ATM’s I view this app as part of my front line security against the scum bags that would steal another persons hard earned money.
Some other apps require the user to be this country (UK, sky super six) and will not operate through a vpn but anywhere I have to use sensitive details such as banking do. It also does stop your ISP seeing what your downloading as mine suddenly started blocking content, I put this vpn on my streaming device and voila content not recognised and stream back on. Immensely impressed.
I did try a couple of free vpn’s but they where only for short periods such as half an hour and had loads of ads. This I can leave running 24/7 if I want to and will if I’m away from home when you’re particularly vulnerable to hackers. I can still use find my phone with it running which was a concern when I first used the app (as I had previously lost and found one using that method) but tracked my phone using my wife’s phone and worked fine.
NordVPN, don’t leave home without it.

NordVPN is a game-changer for VPNs everywhere.

NordVPN is an absolute smash hit of an application: it’s got multiple neat features encouraging users to connect to whichever servers they want and there are no geographical limits to where you can go. Granted it DOES have issues (sometimes you need to restart the app or device, and sometimes the servers just crash unannounced), but these are negligible things because it does everything else so well. Just be careful which servers you choose, because you’ll overload your device’s connections. With that said, NordVPN swears by its terms of absolute privacy and non-disclosure of user data to authorities (and hopefully stays that way), and the servers more often than not work like an absolute charm. This is the key to the internet’s future.

P.S. There’s been issues with my iPhone version of the app where it keeps logging me out at complete random, and all the troubleshooting I’ve tried looking for online doesn’t seem to give me a clear-cut solution to how I can fix this persistent log-out issue. Can you please fix this guys? It’s a real headache having to re log-in for the umpteenth time for an app that’s supposed to save you the trouble of connection issues period. I still love NordVPN; so I’m hoping this update to the review gives light on some of the issues other users have surely experienced as well as I. I don’t know if this problem if affecting computer users to the same degree; I may be wrong about that. Hope this helps.

Slow & Unsafe

A few years ago Nord was unmatched in speed and service. In the past 12-20 months both aspects have gone downhill. The throttling of internet speed is so bad that I can’t use some apps with it because it cripples internet speeds so badly.

The app constantly logs me out or disconnects despite having auto-connect enabled, leaving me completely unprotected and unaware. I’m a nerd and tried switching settings and it doesn’t make a difference to switch between, NordLynx, UDP, etc. They’re all rubbish.

Not to mention that a few years ago you never had to even think about that stuff, it used to be a fast and reliable set-it-and-forget-it service. Now it’s slow, unreliable (thus unsafe). I’m definitely looking forward to trying a better provider when my term is up.

P.S: No need for a developer response, I’ve already lost faith in the brand and product, and have no interest in anymore useless troubleshooting tips.

I gave a half review and it quit working

Thank God I got this half off because it only works half the time.

Edit: it completely stopped working after giving a bad review I’m so disappointed in this product. All those YouTubers are lying or haven’t actually tried this.
Edit edit: I can just tell you here. I have to constantly reopen the app and refresh the connection manually on our phones, on the tablet the app constantly just closes/crashes on the computer it’s about the same as the phone. I can have full Wi-Fi bars in certain spots of the house on any device in my home and it won’t run anything until I use my mobile data. I can be watching a premiere livestream in the room with best Wi-Fi signal keeping up with chat and it will just stop and give the buffering symbol on what I’m watching until I go back to the app that will also have buffering symbol and either manually shut it off or force close the app. In the middle of the night mid video/podcast it shuts off and pauses until dawn. I hope someone doesn’t try to break into my house when this happens and I don’t get a notification because I know who will be to blame. I don’t want to leave a negative review I want this to work as I’ve seen it advertised many times. Please fix this product because I really want to like it and when it does work it’s great. Maybe add more countries as well the selection is depressing.

SUPER APP: NordVPN. Great developer! Good & Very expensive!

Never get answers and replies to my emails! Today I’ve been reading about MESHNET time-consuming and decided to write. I got the hang of it and very interesting which Apps work with or without turning it on or off by using the NordVPN. I use all the features that are available in the years subscription. The Google Home App works fine on the iPhone but on the iPad Pro it’s got a mind of it s own it works when switched on & off at times maybe the iPad Pro is old & needs upgrading or whatever. Otherwise the NordVPN App is wonderful with new features coming along the way to more improvements. Sounds good! Works great! Powerful & Perfect. Some servers not always with some servers. There are many servers to switch to and made them my favorites. This wonderful & fantastic VPN App gets better all the time than the next update or the next upcoming update getting PERFECT all the time. Works wonders! What more can I add! Well done folks & do more miracles! Also purchased a separate PYRAMID WI-FI VPN ROUTER as NordVPN suggested in their App and works wonders. Now connected to the Router I can add more than 6 and unlimited computers & devices to NordVPN and much more with this SUPER-FANTASTIC GADGET!

Configuration confusion

I had no trouble installing and opening my Nord VPN a year or two ( ?) ago

But when I tried to install it on my iPad, I was directed to input my “Configuration” connection to wifi (?). I had no idea what the hell configuration was or how to connect.

So out of not knowing because NordVPN had given me no obvious explanation (viz., Occam’s Razor), I’ve been operating my iPad with no protection unlike my iPhone which has been fine.

This means that I’ve been using a much smaller screen (iPhone 12 mini) which has been very inconvenient including eyestrain.

Effectively through no fault of mine - as NordVPN had followed the IT design and operating principle of ‘intuitive navigation’ I have paying for a considerable amount of time for features of a service i haven’t been using.

Could you please investigate and explain to me clearly why I’m paying two (2) NordVPN subscriptions?
