  • Great app but not well optimised for my phone

This app is brilliant in what it offers and what it delivers. I’ve used it on and off for a little while now and prefer this for real training vs other platforms. However when I first installed this it was on an iPhone 8 and all work well. Just upgraded to the 12 and I find navigation buttons on the top are very hard to access. I have to tap a few time to get them to work. It all looks quite squashed at the top of the screen with TR nav fighting for screen real estate with apples info (time, WiFi and battery icons)

  • TrainerResults

I’ve been using TrainerRoad for about 6 years. I love the structured training and their training plans for triathlon are sensational. I use them before I race and I attribute my results to these very thought out programs. I would highly recommend TrainerRoad to anyone wanting to do a more structured program. As a bonus I am able to multitask and either listen to podcast or watch Netflix while training so a double whammy.

  • Superb way of training to get stronger and faster

I thought I’d hold off doing my review until I had a good year under my belt. Now 18months + in and it is still my go to workout companion. If you, like me, just want to get stronger legs, feel fitter and get faster then this will not let you down.
Compliance to the plans will gain you the best results but you can also just dive into the hundreds of pre loaded workouts if you want to.
So many “relevant” features that are there to guide you through the workout and not just a gimmick.

I don’t really ride outside for fun as it’s just too unpredictable and depending where you ride pretty dangerous with the traffic. So for me this app is top notch. I just jump on the bike at the gym and do what it says. I don’t need to worry about what to do, when, rest days, run days etc I just load up Plan builder and follow it.

    Superb.

Oh and don’t forget the podcast, entertainment and science. 👍🏼

  • No nonsense, structured training program

TrainerRoad is a straight forward indoor training program for elite to amateur athletes. The program has improved over the years which gives you confidence that what was a small company in the beginning, has its heart in the right place, whilst you received the benefit of becoming a better rider. My favourite feature is the training planner/calendar which I can nerd out and plan my whole race season weeks even months before, that feature alone is by far the most powerful part of TR. Even though I still believe in hands on “real person” coaching, this is great if you have time or budget restraints. FYI; Their podcast is awesome!

  • Very motivating

I have run out of motivation with many races cancelled. I knew I would have to do something about my dislike of indoor training. Being a coach myself and knowing all the theory I really liked what TR is based on. I use it with a power meter on rollers so would appreciate the warm down not being so low in watts as I’ll fall off. Also a warning about how many watts in the next interval so I know whether to change gears. Love the fact I can put my own workouts in there!

  • Awesome training at a click

I am training for Ironman events where the training and preparation is equally mental and physical. For me the workouts in TR are beautifully geared to both. It’s not for an athlete that wants gamification as the sessions aren’t brimming with other riders and scenery, you stare at blue boxes while you focus on your technique and mental endurance. May not be for everyone but it’s working beautifully for me.

  • Has Greatly Improved My Focus

I love the unstructured bike ride with my friends as much as the next person, but I also feel lucky to have something like TrainerRoad to keep me going when outside isn’t an option due to time, weather, etc. Knowing that I’m not only maintaining fitness, but getting stronger is a real bump to my motivation, and keeps me coming back for more.

The company are continuously innovating, teasing out new ways to improve the product. Plan Builder was a game changer for me, as it allowed me to map out a longer term strategy, complete with events, expected travel, assessments, recovery weeks and timed peaks.

The depth of data for post-ride analysis is awesome.

And the podcast fills the void of not having a coach, so I’m set!

  • Undeniable Results!!

IMHO, Simply put, TrainerRoad is just a Superior Training Method! Absolutely and without doubt, TrainerRoad, IMHO, is the indisputable Champion of Structured Training. Great, sensible workouts accompanied by great instruction and personal support, along with awesomely seamless equipment integration, make TrainerRoad the best in the business.

I’m no racer, although I have dabbled, I’m more inclined to multi-day stage cycling, which requires repeatable sustained endurance, which I believe TrainerRoad has helped me accomplished, and is taking me to yet another level. During 90min group rides I’m able to play with the thoroughbreds of the group and even challenge their wannabe racing pedigree.

Let there not be any doubt, structured training works, and works best through TrainerRoad. Kudos to the Team!!

  • Trainer Road-Review

I have been with Trainer Road for the last 3 years starting as a relative novice. It has helped me enormously to get a fully structured training programme for races both Road and Time Trialling as well as completing large participant events during this time.
The advice is very useful and always when required, especially about seat and body positioning. This advice is remembered out on the road and really makes a difference. The plans allow you to train to be ready. I fully endorse the product.

  • Great training. Decent app.

The training plans and concept for trainerroad are fantastic but they suffer from the same blind spots that a lot of smaller developers frequently develop.

The application continues to suffer from the same persistence errors it has had since the beginning. ( is it still based on the weird adobe mobile thing? ) The application frequently gets into a state bad enough to need to be restarted, to need the phone and bluetooth devices to be restarted, or finally the application to be uninstalled and reinstalled on the device and all the devices re-paired.

The support process they think is acceptable is to make their customers waste their training time restarting everything every time there is the smallest hiccup in anything then mark the case as "solved" because technically it worked in the end.
