App does not work
Repeatedly goes into a loop asking for extra verification by sending an email, but competing the email process does nothing and the app starts the verification process all over from the beginning.
I am letting my VSP account lapse the next open enrollment. VSP is more trouble to try to deal with them than any value they provide.

Barely an app
This “app” appears to be 90% just the VSP website.
As a rep there is a lot of functionality that would be expected from a real app that just isn’t there, like the ability to save a password or use biometrics like face or Touch ID. And forgot about being able to load a VSP membership card into apple wallet.
I’m surprised how far behind VSP is, this approach of taking the app and pointing it to the website is something my primary health network was doing back in 2012. But I guess what do I expect from a company that is still using social security number and birthday to identify patients.

Horrible App
Everyone is right - this app is horrible. As of today’s date version 2.3 was updated a year ago. Apparently nobody is monitoring this to see what is wrong with this app. I’ve been using it for a short while and I did notice that when I tried to look at my membership card, the app failed and went back to my homepage. When I tried to email it to myself the app showed that ever frustrating “death circle.” When you try to get in touch with app support there is no one to contact. I’m using an iPhone and for some reason it won’t save my password, so I have to put it in manually every single time. As I said, I’ve only been using this app for a short time, and these are just a few of the problems I found, and for some reason I think I’m going to find many more problems. Obviously VSP doesn’t care about this app at all or they would do something about it.

Not useful. Logged in to see my benefit claim history and says to use a browser
I got an email from VSP saying my benefit statement was ready and to visit the link. Below that it says download the app to check benefits. I figured statements would be in the app like other apps I use. The statements were listed in the app but suggests I go use a browser. What’s the point of the app then? Waste of time.

Frustration App
The navigation is horrible! If I click on a doctor to read more about them I have no way of returning to the previous page, I have to close out the app and sign in and do the search all over again. It’s always lagging and giving error message when trying to find a doctor! And the cookie message keeps popping even though I picked my preference! Not to mention I a pop up to schedule with an office I had no interest in would not click off when I pressed the X a bunch of times! Literally had to close out the app and log back in. Please update the app it is NOT USER FRIENDLY!

Use the website
The app is hard to long into, forces you to log in each time you open the app. UserID and Password fields don’t get recognized by the IPhone as fields where it can auto fill saved credentials.
Use the website in a laptop. It’s slightly less of a hassle.

The gap between VSP’s app and other insurance apps is striking
Such limited functionality on this app, and it can’t be due to HIPAA either since all of the missing functionality is present on my Aetna app, which deals with even more sensitive HIPAA issues.
You can’t look at your statements through the app. You can’t log in via faceid. If you switch apps while logging in and come back to it, the login screen times out. The UI is a mess.

Not many apps written by a three year old but THIS ONE IS
Let’s make them all login every time they open the app. Then when they get in we won’t let them make an appointment or give them an actual card to save in the wallet. If we did this right they might come to the store! I refuse to e ‘em go to a store the uses this app. Complete waste of time and effort for the customer.

This is not even an app cover, and a website page so they took the website and disguise it as an app an app that got five update in nine years🙃🙃🙃🙃

Do Better
As others have mentioned, this is a pretty crappy app. Face ID and customer history (past exams, glasses purchased, etc) would go a long way toward providing utility but that doesn't seem to be a priority. Must be nice having a captive audience of consumers.
