Reviews of VSP Vision Care On the Go

  • they wanted to spend as little as possible

this is not an app. this “app” just uses the guts of Safari (sloppily) to open the VSP site. this means that:

    - it will never remember your password
    - it will never allow for FaceID
    - VSP doesn’t have any ID cards, but even if they did, Wallet functionality wouldn’t be possible
    - password managers won’t work, so get ready to copy and paste your password from those if you use them
    - the pages will load like a browser, but there are no browser functions. the worst of both worlds!
    - you get to experience the slightly less bad but still not great VSP site

I’m positive they only made this because the companies they contract their plans out to required them to have an app at some point.

This is an app in name only, but enough of an “app” for someone who doesn’t care to check a box off if they’re comparing VSP vs. EyeMed and other companies. But at least the other companies actually hired developers.
  • Stuck in schedule appointment window

I was using the app, and then a banner appeared, and I couldn’t close it down.
The close button (x) didn’t work, nor did clicking on other parts of the banner.
I had to restart the app and do my search all over again
  • Should not exist

The app is just a wrapper around the mobile web page, but does not handle login session correctly or links. It should just expose a safari view in the app and handle login session (both pretty easy to do) or the experience is literally worse than the mobile website. Which means users are better off if this doesn’t exist at all.
