Terrible app

What a nightmare this app is. Notice that it has 2.9 stars and all of the developer responses to the user comments are defensive? You’d think they’d listen to customer feedback and try to be kind and humble. We’re happy to give you our money! Just want the profit work. What a weird app. Gives me the creeps.

I’ve gotten trapped in the parking lot more than I’ve escaped it

It worked well at first but now I have gotten trapped multiple times and charges twice for the same time period. This latest use I made sure that the Bluetooth was not connected to other things and I had to take two passes to get in, to get out, and I was charged twice. I tried to call the help number and it’s not a viable number. I also can’t figure out how to manually start the parking meter and instead have to wait for the app to slowly update that I’ve parked. I’m going to keep using the app because I really don’t have any other options but I am seriously displeased with the performance of this app.

Request so much privacy permissions. Worst parking app

There is no excuse to request all the permissions.

Please delete the app after using it. Otherwise they’ll be able to track you all the time. (As they requested and you consented.)

As an engineer working with privacy, I cannot believe the existence of such apps under nowadays regulations

Hi Yuan302, We need motion & fitness , and location enabled for the tech to work properly. The app needs to determine via the phones sensors whether you are driving or walking. This stops people with ZipBy walking past the ZipBy columns and opening the boom gate accidentally. The app does not track your location and is merely used to wake up the equipment when you arrive. Tks.

Needs motion and fitness? Really?

Why in the world does this app require access to my phone’s motion and fitness data? I was (very reluctantly) willing to go with the requirement of “always on” access to my location, but my fitness data too? I need to pay for a parking space. That’s it. There is no justifiable reason why paying for a parking space requires access to personal information. …and wouldn’t you know it? It’s only *after* providing my credit card information that the app made it clear that it wouldn’t function without access to both location and fitness data. Unbelievable.

Terrible App - DO NOT USE!!!

This app is terrible, it is full of bugs and issues and doesn’t work properly. It is hit and miss when approaching the boom gate, often having to reverse and drive forward over and over till it works. The validation function has stopped working all of a sudden.

If the app stops working you are trapped in the car park as the car park attendants have nothing to do with the app, so they can’t help. The technical support is horrible. You are virtually trapped in a car park waiting for a technician to answer email sent in by the help desk!!! Not even the SUPPORT section on the app can help!!!!

Must Always share location

It says for the app to work you must Always share your location. Sketchy if you ask me. I immediately disabled the setting after paying for parking.

Hi bluesk01, For your ZipBy app to work, you need to have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Location Services and Motion and Fitness phone settings turned on at all times. Note that Location Services need to be on ‘Always’ for the app to work. We do not track your locations except for when you enter parking garages. This is to enable the technology to work. Thanks

Terrible execution

Tried this thinking it would save time. Drove in and it worked great. When I went to drive out it registered another entry instead and I was stuck at the boom gates with a huge line of cars behind me. Rang customer support who said they couldn’t help but would escalate and call back…. Waiting to get out… I don’t recommend this at all

Emails sent to request refund, still no reply, no option to delete your credit card or delete app? FAQ has no information on this either

Terrible terrible terrible, every time the ZipBy let me get into the carpark but doesn't let me out. I will have to press the ticket button every time to get a ticket to avoid using intercom, then what's the point of being ticketless? Location: Georges River Council - The Avenue.

Love the Touchless operation

It’s a bit concerning to reach out and press the button on these machines after thousands of others have before me. Who knows when the last time was that they were sanitized. This app allows me to keep my hands and arms inside the vehicle at all times. :)
