No more stress!

I’d been looking for a lawn service for a long time, and finally after 7 years of doing the work myself, I said I can’t take it anymore! I thought it would be much more expensive, but the lawn gurus in my area were very affordable. I’ve been able to focus more on getting my plants and flowers to thrive than simply cutting the grass and calling it a day because I was exhausted. I’ve also seen a marked improvement in my allergies, since I am allergic to grasses and weeds, and now I no longer have to be around when the grass is flying. I like that the app tells you when the crew is on their way, and that you can also alter your lot lines - mine wasn’t exactly right when I started, but I was able to easily fix it. Something that could help improve is some sort of confirmation system when we make requests for certain parts of the yard to be cut a certain way. It isn’t always clear if the crew sees the messages I’ve sent or requests I’ve made (like please make a hard line cut right here, please, there is a buried flower bed and the weeds and creeping over it). Other than that, it’s been a breeze and a huge help!

Just go with a lawn company…

we have gone through so many providers and it has been an awful experience nearly every time. People don't show up for weeks at a time, they have mowed the wrong yard twice, they only mowed our front yard (after they mowed the wrong yard and my husband had to chase them down to tell them. He said he'd come back to do the back but never did, yet we were still charged for it). The guys who cut down our bushes kept having broken equipment so it took several days of them coming back for small patches of time then after we tipped them, they just left the bases of the bushes, without finishing the job and took our big shovel that was outside. That same group of people would mow but never weed eat, edge or blow so our grass was growing up the fence and our back porch was constantly covered in dirt and grass.

It has truly been the worst lawn care experience I've ever had and our provider before this actually destroyed our front lawn with a crappy mower and we had to re sod it.

I have had to reach out to customer service multiple times (which they have no phone number- just email/chat) & we have been told they “just connect you to the providers” then we get a "fix it" ticket only to send the provider out to “fix” the issue & then we repeat the same issue over and over. With every provider.

We switched to a lawn company and it is actually cheaper and they take care of the garden beds & bushes with it!

Just don’t do it!

Poor customer support

I want to like the app/service, but they make it difficult. I have used it several times for lawn mowing. At best, it's an expensive way to get your lawn cut or get other services, but it is on demand, which is what attracted me. At worst, it can be a very frustrating experience. I have had poor quality work done, which is frustrating given the cost. My last experience was the worst. The contractor picked up the job said they would complete it by a specific time and day but then never did. When I used the messaging feature in the app to communicate with the contractor about an ETA...I was ghosted. Even worse was Lawn Guru Customer Support, which was non-existent. I messaged support in the app, and a bot answers telling you there is no one to help me at the moment but that I can describe the problem and someone will get back. They never did. There is a phone number, but that is just an automated machine telling you to use the app or text a number. I texted the number and another bot responded saying asking how they could help...I still haven't heard back.

Long story short, just be weary of using the app.

Not very dependable

I started using the app and couldn’t say enough good stuff. Then it all went south. In the beginning I had a great provider for weekly lawn service and he was responsive. Then got a message about his personal life and how he was to busy to mow. Was supposed to come the next day. I can appreciate community involvement but this got ridiculous. The. I blocked him cause he no showed for 2 weeks. The replacement provider also ghosted me. I finally got a guy who came out and did a great job. I tried to contact Lawn Guru directly and no response till I actually canceled the service all together.

The only purpose I’ll use this app for is finding. One off services which seems to be the only thing that works well. In less than 25 hours I 16 estimates to remove bushes at our house. They were able to get it done the next day.

In the end I would not use this app to do regular work as not dependable.

Not returning

My credit card was charged and never received services. Absolutely no response from the email I sent and the “support team” is never available in chat. I’ve only used this service a couple of times and didn’t have an issue. I also kept getting calls and texts when I initially signed up so I didn’t think I would be ignored when I tried to reach out. Everything seemed so smooth in the beginning. The guy accepted the request on Wednesday charged my card that day and never showed. I shouldn’t be charged until the service is done. I need the lawn mowed before I move out tomorrow (Friday). If I try to cancel they will charge a $5 fee. Now I sit and wait to see if they will show and if not I will have find another service and contact my credit card company. If he does finally show they will be in the movers way. I almost made the mistake of taking them with me to my new home but absolutely not. My new home is in an HOA. I can only imagine the fees I would endure if I stayed with this provider. I had to retract my suggestion to friends and family and one of them signed up and I told them to beware. If you use them know that this can happen. I think I would have a better upside if I wasn’t ignored. I’ll never use them again. At this point I’d rather pay the cancellation fee.

Apologies, due to escalated demand support is experiencing delays. Please reach out to us at support@lawnguru.co and we'll be happy to look into this for you right away!

Great service

I have to say that the first person I booked to come do my Lawn said he was coming for like three days in a row and on the third day the app kept saying he was on his way, and he never did show up. I had my dogs inside most of the day so that they would be out of his way when he arrived. Finally, I think it was 415 or 430 that I finally contacted him and all I got was “oops, I forgot to tell you I got kind of busy. My truck broke.” he couldn’t have taken less than a minute to just pop on his app and tell me my truck broke down. I apologize for the inconvenience. I mean, how long does that take? The guy told me he was going to be there he said tomorrow morning and he never showed up all day. I contacted him at 5 PM and I never heard anything back. The third guy his name is Randall. He actually showed up when he said he was going to show up and he did a great job. It was very precise and I was very happy with the service. He went above and beyond. Because of him I’m giving the Service five stars. And also because the service contacted me right back right away as soon as I contacted support. That just comes to show how one or two people can RUIN a business’ reputation. But people like Randall fix that.

Good concept, poor execution

On paper, it is a great idea to connect service providers with customers in need of lawn care or snow removal. However, there are number of areas that were neglected in practice. First, vetting of service providers is quite poor. The snow removal service that failed to show up for 16 hours after receiving a text message that they are on their way has 4.9 rating. It’s not just about the failure to show but the fact that the provider refuses to respond to messages or answer a call makes the communication mechanism within the app completely useless. The fact that Lawn Guru’s customer service also does not answer is even more frustrating.
Second, to add the insult, they charged $5 for cancellation because it was cancelled “while they were on their way”. This means service providers have no incentive to be responsive to customers since they can easily collect $5 for doing absolutely nothing but to send a text to say they are on their way. In fact, no show would be more profitable since those customers who cancel out of frustration do not get to rate their services. These providers can accept as many jobs as possible and only do a good job on a couple and still maintain a good rating while screwing over all other customers.

In short, this app works well, until it doesn’t. It accommodates those that are out to make a buck through manipulating the structure and this app simply makes money whether there is good service or not.

Refused to provide an appropriate refund when services weren’t provided!

I have never had an experience with a company that when you don’t receive the services you paid for they REFUSE to give you a refund. I had two weeks of very poor service, both of which were reported the day of service.

After asking to talk to a supervisor the best they offered me was $10 credit to my account, after i spent $70 and only received 3/8 of the services i paid for (over the 2 weeks of service). When trying to resolve the issue with their support, they eventually stopped addressing my points and just kept repeating themselves. I even mentioned that they could send someone out to correct the job, in which they just provided me a $10 credit.

Would not recommend this company to anyone. Crazy to think a company will not provide a refund (or even correct the issue) when you don’t actually receive the services you paid for.

Best Decision Ever

My 70 year old dad plowed his own driveway every snowfall and took pride in doing it all by himself. After a medical setback, he was no longer able to do this and was worried when the news reported a blizzard on the way. Nurses have to assist him at home 3-4 days a week so we knew we had to assure their safety coming and going. I needed to help him figure out a solution but had no idea where to start. A simple google search brought me to Lawn Guru and it almost seemed too good to be true since it was SO easy to set up and fairly-priced. After the storm, my dad called me and RAVED about how well the driveway was plowed! And how amazing it was that they did the sidewalk and salted everything. What a huge relief it was to have found your company and this app. We enrolled him in “autoplow” so we never have to stress about this type of stuff again. THANK YOU for creating this app and this brilliant solution for people in need. 5 stars!

Don’t Download

I wish I could give this app zero stars. It is a nice concept but there is barely any protection for the customer. The contractor can literally not provide services, send pictures of random lawns, take your money and close the ticket and you will be forced to provide 50 pictures, move mountains, and sell your first born just to get services rendered. Notice I didn’t say refund. You will be forced to allow the dishonest person to come to your house and “fix” the work they never completed instead of a refund and a new provider. Again this is because the provider can close a ticket without dispute, and that will be considered as a “job well done” even if you the customer has a complaint. This entire app needs to be deleted and pulled off the market because it is a complete scam. Download at your own risk. As soon as I get this issue resolved, I will be deleting this app and never using it again. If I hear someone talking about downloading this app, I may, quite literally, knock their phone out their hands to protect them.

This doesn’t seem right and I would be more than happy to look into this further for you. Please email support@lawnguru.co (not .com) with a screenshot of your review so that we can better assist. With cases like this, we will issue a refund if the provider mistakenly serviced the wrong property and get you paired with a new crew. If it was a service issue, we may create a fix-it to get the provider back out to resolve any areas of concern. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused and would love to make it right!
