Nice app for pacing

I frequently use this for pacing my guided breathing.

Best breathing app so far except needs two additions. But can’t find better for me.

I’ve been using this app for a few months. Tried others before leaving this review.
I could have managed with free version but payed £0.99 one off for the pro after some time.
I love the visual of the balloon expanding and contracting down like my lungs. liked being able to fine tune all visuals and change timing of exhale and inhale and time of session on same page while breathing. Can also change ratio of exhale to inhale and colours on following page.

BUT can’t put in a hold breath option, or have I missed this control?

Also initially wanted full text directions, maybe on separate pages from the quick Instructions if advisable. I did figure it all out but would have been nice. I’ve given 4 out of 5 as is best breathing app I’ve seen.

Also developer, you put out the Astounding Kardia app which
some Cardiologists are
Suggesting to patients as option to
diagnostic implants, which pick up heart beat irregularity. Is it possible for you to develop a breathing app with Cardic Coherence sensing during or after breathing session.

Kardia deep breathing

Simple but elegant app.

Good for breathing

It’s nice and simple and good for when you need to do some slow breathing

Biofeedback (cardiac coherence)

I went to a biofeedback doctor and practiced cardiac coherence using games. I was surprised to find many of the “meditation” apps don’t have the simple feature of breathing rates that has been scientifically proven to help with anxiety. This app doesn’t pop up on the top search lists but I found it the best and most simple for breathing at the rate my doctor found was best for me 4.5 cycles/min.

Beautifully designed

The App is brilliant for re-calibrating when faced with stress. I find the deep grounded feeling of calm carries right into the day.

Simple but very effective

After watching the ted talk from Dr Alan Watkins Being Brilliant Every Day I wanted to find a breath pacer to help me with my regular breathing. As I suffer with anxiety the benefits from regular breath work is an essential part of recovery. This app makes doing this very easy. Rather than trying to count in your head & keep focused the circle on the app does all this for you. In fact the 5 minutes go so quickly I feel like I could easily do more without getting bored or distracted. You can use the settings to set the colour time sound to your preference. I have left off one star because I think this app could be made even better by improving the the accessibility/presentation of the information and having a better menu or button for certain types of breathing ie if you want one for sleep stress relief or energising. So in terms of helpfulness and effectiveness this is 5 star. I have already recommended this app to many people as I am convinced that in today’s world we all need to understand more about how our breathing effects our physiology and thoughts. So well done and thank you to the creator for making this app.

Response from developer

Thanks for you detailed review! Future versions of the app will answer your concerns about the app. First, I will improve the app's accessibility with a more interactive welcome sequence. I will also add the possibility to store/recall settings, with a number of factory presets corresponding to usual breathing exercices.

Non-tech pro experience

I like some elements of the simplicity of the app and sounds. The instructions to change periods of breath/cycle lengths sounded simple enough, but in initial use found it felt quite awkward to use. It would waaaay simpler for me (not tech pro) to be able to change all settings for various elements in the options/settings in one area than swiping up or down on the separate home screen...Everything located in one easy to use obvious area would make it “keep it simple stupid” across the board. Otherwise great straight to the point useful app :)

Response from developer

Thanks for your advice. I've designed Kardia breathing controls so as not to interrupt the "flow" of the session in case you need to adjust the duration or rate while practicing, which resulted in a minimalistic, menu-less user interface that many users appreciate. However I acknowledge that this choice is not the best for everyone. I plan to add a more standard control scheme that will allow to set parameters with sliders instead of swipe gestures.

Really worth trying

This is a great app, and I think it is especially helpful for alleviating stress easily and quickly. A good alternative to meditation, which is harder to do when you are already stressed out.

Difficult to change settings

I found it very difficult to change setting, such as time/duration, inhalation:exhalation etc. Not very user friendly or intuitive.
