Hard to make changes to route
Even with the paid subscription changing chargers requires replanning a route completely. Very difficult to navigate the app, Ford routing works better and with couple of clicks a charger can be replaced on a route. Not a bad app but not worth the price of use.

J’utilise un dongle pour la connexion en temps réel avec ma batterie. La planification d’itinéraire est excellente pour l’autonomie de batterie et la recherche de chargeurs. Mais il manque toutes les infos de traffic et de conditions de la route (accidents, signalements…).
Je dois donc utiliser une autre app en parallèle pour recevoir les signalements et optimiser mon itinéraire.
Dommage, ABRP serait PARFAITE avec ces infos.

From East coast to west Coast - better than Goggle Maps
Ok, so I am first time new-ish EV owner ( Hyundai Ioniq 5 2026)
I planned a SOLO road trip driving from Virginia - to Maine- to Canada- Midwest - Pacific North West and Southenr California. This was in a span of 12 days. Here’s my take:
1. A+: great for planning g - I love how it plots all the fast chargers for me
2. B+: the prediction of how much you need to charge to is not as reliable. I always overcharge because based on my driving and the current weather conditions , it sometimes drains the battery faster. So even if it says , charge only up to 75 percent, I would go up to 90.
Recommendation : I wish the accuracy would be better specially after learning my driving habits , live weather ,live traffic etc.

Kinda janky still
There’s a lot to like here but ABRP definitely makes a few promises it can’t keep. It needs to be more stable. The UI and user flow needs some refinement (make it easier to tell the app your current battery state when planning, making changes, etc.). The filters and preferences for things like “dog friendly” locations don’t seem reliable or well integrated. Sometimes the app becomes unresponsive and/or super laggy in car play. Even just using the quick action for nearby chargers often used very stale location data, sometimes resulting in directions that involved a U-turn back in the wrong direction. Overall, I was a little disappointed with the in-car experience on my recent road trip. It’s definitely a big challenge to make an app like this without a direct connection to the car’s real time data but there are still ways to make it work a little better. Looking forward to seeing ABRP evolve over time.

Disappointed to say the least
Certainly, some of the issue has to do with my vehicle, not connecting directly with the app. I found that manually updating the state of charge mid route was incredibly difficult in CarPlay.
Manually rerouting to an alternate charger in CarPlay was impossible. I usually just cancelled, and recalculated.
The worst part is missing Tesla superchargers that are on Google Maps.

Good App but still debatable
I have subscribed and connected it to an OBD for real-time SOC updates. It can be a bit wonky at times, but overall it works.
I used the app for my 1 way Kerala trip.
Pros:
Reliable charging stations along the route
Charging stations based on SOC
Navigation routes (debatable)
Cons:
The navigation doesn’t seem to factor in 4-wheeler compatibility. At 1 point it took me through a farm with a nice view, but the road was extremely narrow even though there was a much better road available.
The ETA is way off. It kept showing travel times that were 2–3 hours shorter than what it actually took. Seems like traffic, terrain or something else isn’t being factored. Something is really wrong here.
The navigation itself. Wow!!!. I missed a turn to a charging station, and ABRP literally took me into someone’s backyard and expected me to drive through their house. That’s when I switched to another navigation app.
Overall: This app has potential, at least until OEMs come up with a mapping system like Tesla.
The biggest plus was the reliable charging station suggestions. Most of my trip was ad hoc, and ABRP took away some of the range anxiety with the charging stations.
That said, I still had to switch to another navigation app for the actual driving directions and have ABRP in the background for SOC monitoring and charging suggestions, especially on the return trip.
Right now, it’s a good companion app. But considering it’s a paid subscription and also relies on an OBD for the best experience, I expect the navigation to be much better.
So it’s a 50-50 for me. I am still rooting for ABRP because I really like what it’s trying to do, but the navigation needs to catch up.

Disappointed
I was excited to use this app for my first road trip. I carefully set everything up, including my preferred and ❤️ chargers, as well as those I wanted to avoid. It worked okay for some of the trip, but it seemed to ignore my preferences mostly. And it took us way off the beaten path where there was no cell service, which made me nervous. Some sketchy rural areas. And the speed limit shown on the app was almost always wrong. My biggest gripe was that it took me to a charger that doesn’t seem to exist (it had a 1 start rating). Why would you take me there?

A must have
We just completed our first extended trip in our EV. I’d like to share some tips for other EV owners.
You give it your source, destination, and any stop you want and it determines the best route. You pre-define it with your car (model), starting charge, desired arrival charge level, your favorite charger brands (think gas stations), etc. It figures out your best route to get where you are going. I also select a bathroom nearby and also a food stop if possible. I always start with a 100% charge and like to arrive about a 40% charge. ABRP then calculates you stop here for 13 minutes, there for 22 minutes, another one there for 17 minutes and you end up at your location with 43% charge remaining.
However, I don’t like ABRP’s actual route guidance. It is to (voice) chatty for me while driving. But each stop has an address so I put that address into Apple Maps (Google Maps, Waze, whatever) and Maps is more knowledgable about traffic delays, best routes, etc. Same destination (kind of - more in a minute) and for me less voice chatty.
Same destination, not really. Maps gets you to the address. However I’m sometimes dropped off at the street address, not the final maze in the parking lot to the front of the store. But even that isn’t good enough. This is where ABRP comes back to life. ABRP’s destination is the lat/long of the actual charging station which is usually in some far corner of the parking lot. No looking around to find it at the mall.
ABRP is free but you can get a paid version. I paid for 1 month while I took this trip. It gives you additional features but honestly I don’t think I needed or used any of them. I do want to support the developer so I’ll see what future trips require.
One thing I (we) would like is the ability to say something like find me a DQ (Dairy Queen) along the route as well. That feature doesn’t exist on either ABRP or Maps that I know of yet. So we sill watch for DQ signs and venture off the route on our own at times.
You also still need the charging stations app to use and pay for the electricity. I probably have a dozen now. Electrify America, ChargePoint, EVgo, Tesla (no I don’t have a Tesla but I have a Tesla charger adapter), Shell, Blink, etc. A couple of stations supposedly will simply take a credit card, but I found the app more reliable than a simple credit card.

Used to be awesome, not so much anymore.
I used to use this app all the time to plan trips, and while it was a little quirky, it was always extremely helpful to plan trips and charges in a Tesla. Not so much anymore. I can’t now set my initial SOC (at least not simply, I haven’t found out how to do it at all so far. It used to be so simple), and my paths seem to need to route back to where I started from giving me really weird driving times. It might be “a better route”, but it is certainly not a “planner” anymore. Maybe you should change the name to just ABR.

Doesn’t allow prospecting for chargers
Although this app does a pretty good job of plotting routes it fails miserably at displaying a general map showing chargers. I am much prefer charge hub and PlugShare for locating places to charge.

So Disappointing - Cancelling My Subscription
I have been a year subscriber, but they recently partnered with Rivian to hand over all our personal data. I definitely did NOT agree to that when I subscribed, and I would apply for a refund from Apple, but they won’t allow you to after 30 days. I didn’t pay to give my info to third party companies. So disappointed by this shady behaviour. As much as I rely on the app for my driving, I did NOT CONSENT to handing over my data, and I would not have renewed my subscription a few months ago had I known this was going to happen. Shame on the developer.

Not all chargers are listed but loving it
Good thing is that it looks for chargers that are nearby other chargers and restaurants or restaurants room by default
So if some charger was not working there can be backup chargers also the estimated time to charge at a station is also good

Ok, I think that this is an impressive app for people who own an EV and are so worried about charging in road trips and knowing how to organise it all. Recently, we went in a road trip and it was very useful with the CarPlay. I understand why you have to pay for CarPlay. Also, I just have one thing that I hope you could fix as it has been annoying us while we travel with this app. Ok this is what it is, most people don’t get that there are different types of chargers that have different voltages so if you have an EV that charges at 800volts it might not charge at it’s flagship speed that it says it charges at if it is connected to a 400volt charger because it might be designed to charge it’s fastest in 800 volt charges. Some might charge less or maybe even not charge at the voltage that they’re designed to charge the fastest at. This means that sometimes the app thinks that you can charge faster than you actually can at a charger and the plan is therefore inaccurate. It’s why I request that you add a feature to choose what your car charges at different voltages so we don’t have to manually override it. This will make it easier for people who don’t understand and I’m pretty sure you can just find all this information about the car that the user says they have and also find information about the charger and if they’re like 400 volts or 800 and that stuff. I hope you consider this review as I think this would be manageable and would further improve future users experience.

New update is broken—won’t launch
So I tried to post an “issue” on their web site, and it *redirects* *to* *the* *app* for “authentication.” Since the app stalls displaying a “launch” screen this prevents the genius developers from receiving a friendly bug report. Hence the one-star review. Not the level of support I’d hope for from a paid app.

Some great features, but lots of missing charging stations
I want to love this app, but very frustrating that it is missing a ton of Tesla Superchargers that I have used for years. The mechanism to report these is really poorly designed and I am not sure anything will be done about it. Still on my free trial, not sure if it is worth the cost given it misses so many chargers.

Charger / local info is wrong
Recently attempted plan a trip from Las Vegas to Bishop, CA. The charger data was wrong in multiple instances and the route suggested was nonsense. It wanted to send us through Barstow, which is 100 miles out of the way. The location of the supercharger in Bishop is wrong, off by a couple miles. The location of the Best Western hotel in Bishop is off by a mile. Pretty worthless if you can’t trust the data.

Does NOT have all EVs!!
Does Not have all EVs and cannot enter my own cars data. Very disappointing and its Perry much useless without being able to select your car. #1 priority should be to make certain all new EVs are added ASAP! It is not… If this changes, then I hope it’s 5* but can’t know till I can use it.
Used to be passable, now useless
I try to plan a route where I start with 32% charge. Despite this, ABRP will constantly decide that it knows better and that I’m actually at 90% charge, meaning that I will run out of battery before reaching my destination. What’s the point of an EV route planner if it can’t do the one thing it’s designed for?
