Don’t do it!
I downloaded this app while having a difficult day, assuming it would be a nice break from scrolling on social media for my mental health.
This is the worst interface I’ve ever found on an app. I guess if you are 9 years old it may be useful, but any adult that uses this should just go look into therapy.
Not only was it a waste of my time, even though I quickly realized how bad it was and attempted to cancel my “free trial” and remove my account, this app charged me around $80 for the literal 3 minutes I spent on the app before I cancelled.
They refuse to give a refund even though I can prove I immediately cancelled.
This is a scam. Don’t fall for it.

DO NOT FREE TRAIL!!
I decided to go ahead and do a free trial to get the whole experience of the app and I canceled my free trial before expired but then they charged me $60 and then I had to go back and cancel it again so why didn’t I get canceled the first time? And they don’t even have a IRL phone number to call you go through email so hearing from them is gonna be slim to nothing.

Beware!!
I signed up, created an account, and realized that same day the product wasn’t for me. It felt very simplistic, which I’m sure is helpful for some people. But as someone who already works with an in-person therapist, it just wasn’t a good fit.
So I deleted my account less than an hour after creating it. It was completely removed, I couldn’t even log back in afterward.
Then, seven days later, I was charged $80 for an annual subscription. How was I billed after my account had already been deleted? And why was my payment information still being retained after I deleted my account?
That experience feels incredibly misleading. Charging people after they’ve deleted their accounts is not how you build trust, especially in a business that serves people seeking mental health support.

Disgusting customer service
I reached out to them multiple times about the streaks issue and only received a message the second time. I explained how their system not recognizing presence in the app leads to more anxiety and stress trying to maintain a “streak” and how that doesn’t help people at all. Then I was given a response of “I don’t even know what you’re yapping about.” I’d include the screenshot of this trash if I could. Disgusting that there is zero empathy from the people running a “mental health” app. More like an anxiety booster. I’ll never suggest this to anyone ever again

This app has really helped me!
I love this app I also love the little memes and the fact that I have gotten better at controlling my emotions!
Sneaky! Don’t trust them
Watch out for there tricks do not accept there cheaper offer
Easy to understand and use
Super helpful to use and very helpful to my mental health.
So far, so good
Fun, engaging, and adaptive to my learning style. I cannot wait to see where this app leads me in my quest to be more accepting of my thoughts and emotions and also giving me more coping tools to use in real life scenarios.
Good Coaching, Poor Continuity
I really loved Ahead for a while, and honestly it helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life. I had to abruptly leave my home and my partner because the situation had become emotionally unsafe and mentally overwhelming. During that time, the app helped me recognize patterns that were happening around me, come to terms with new mental health diagnoses, and start practicing healthier coping skills.
That said, I eventually stopped using it because of one major limitation: it doesn't retain enough context from previous conversations.
I understand there may be privacy, legal, or safety reasons behind this design choice, but constantly having to re-explain the same people, events, and history becomes exhausting. It's not just tedious and time-consuming—it can also force you to relive some of your darkest moments over and over again. When you're already struggling, repeatedly rewriting your story can feel emotionally draining.
I also found that the app sometimes leans too heavily toward validating the user. While support and empathy are important, there were times when I wished it would be more direct and objective. If you're not careful with how you phrase questions, you may not get challenged on your own blind spots or behaviors, which can limit personal growth.
Another feature I wish existed is a more proactive coaching component. After weeks or months of conversations, the app should be able to identify recurring themes and clearly tell you: "Here are the top things you may want to work on." Most people seek support because they don't fully understand what's driving their struggles. If we already knew exactly what we needed to work on, we'd probably be doing much better already.
Overall, Ahead was genuinely helpful during a critical chapter of my life, and I'm grateful for what it provided. I just think there's an opportunity to evolve from being a supportive conversation partner into a more personalized coach that remembers your journey and helps guide your growth over time.

A moment to stop and breathe
I’ve wanted to work on myself for a while and I can not praise Ahead app enough for the help and support it has given me on my journey. It gives time to pause and reflect. It’s helped me see clearly what I’m carrying and that my reactions and feels are fair and valid for me to feel. Kai gently guides when things get too much. 100% recommend.. subscription paid - however, this app gives so much for a fraction of traditional talking therapy costs.

Best app ever!
I love it so far! I use it to help plan my day.
Very helpful!
This app is super helpful! I see people complaining about it and I actually wanted to say something. I am a real person and this app has helped me a lot.
It is NOT a replacement for therapy, but in tandem with weekly therapy with a real therapist it is extremely helpful. There are definitely some minor flubs here and there but overall it is very, very helpful.

A
Chat needs a review
I find this app really helpful and have for the last year I’ve had it. However the new chat where you have limited messaged is hard to get by. You could be having a really in depth conversation and be on the verge of figuring something out or getting out of the funk you have been in and then all of a sudden you came talk to it for 2 hours? That’s not helpful or sustainable. In moments of true need when you need to talk something through this is so jarring and disrupting

Gaslighting
It’s literally just wanting money no provisions no opportunity in a way to offer someone something for free and just steals information versus offering support. During the deleting account process, it also says very unhealthy things like adios amigo in a sarcastic tone on screen.
You have to sign multiple things and just get blown up with asking for money try it with multiple accounts you’ll see what happens. It happens every time and this is one of the most evil things I’ve ever seen.

Mental health app for accessibility to all, but the real feature cannot be tested without paying. However, it is a good idea for the app, yet I wish it was more accessible to users who don’t want to pay.
