No dark mode

It’s 2026 and this is the ONLY app on my phone that doesn’t have a dark mode icon. The API was released two major iOS versions ago. All my other apps are dark. Yet here’s one of the biggest credit unions in the US with an ugly blue icon on my home screen admit all the dark ones. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Undergoes maintenance at the worst times

Alliant itself is fine. But why do they choose Saturday evenings to undergo maintenance. And there’s no push notification system for purchases, so forgotten subscriptions can drain my account for months before I notice.

Glitches out all the time.

I am only able to review transactions that are 30 days. Nothing older. I have a minor account and I can’t have one login app constantly glitches out.

Missing a critical feature

Great rates and products, but the lack of Zelle or any way to send instant payments directly to non-owned bank accounts is a major downside. It makes everyday banking more difficult than it should be. The only workaround is using third-party apps like Venmo or Cash App, and recipients often have to pay a fee if they need instant access to their money. Until Alliant adds Zelle or a similar service, this remains one of the biggest gaps in an otherwise excellent credit union.

Devastating Fraud Experience: Alliant failed to protect my savings

I am a senior citizen, and my experience with this credit union has been devastating. My accounts were hacked, and fraudulent wire transfers were sent from my account without my authorization. What makes this situation even more upsetting is that my family contacted the credit union and disputed the transactions the very same day we discovered the fraud.

Despite being notified immediately that my account had been compromised, the credit union still allowed the wire transfer to go through. As an elderly customer who trusted this institution to protect my life savings, I expected far more diligence and concern when clear signs of fraud were reported.

Instead of acting quickly to stop the transaction and protect my funds, the credit union failed to take appropriate action, resulting in a significant financial loss. The stress, anxiety, and hardship this has caused me and my family have been overwhelming.

Financial institutions have a responsibility to safeguard their members, especially vulnerable seniors who may be targeted by scammers and cybercriminals. In my case, I feel that responsibility was not met. I would strongly caution others—particularly senior citizens and their families—to carefully consider whether this credit union will adequately protect their accounts if fraud occurs.

This has been one of the most disappointing and frustrating experiences of my life.

Break up with your bank

So glad I switched to a credit union when I still had no money and it was easy. Mobile banking is super easy with Alliant because it’s a great app. Only complaint is there’s no Zelle compatibility.

App is so slow

It takes so long for the app to open to your accounts, and then again to open your account balance and transaction page

Good but

This is a good app. What keeps me from making it my main checking account is the inability to lock my debit. This is a standard feature with most banks and even the smallest credit unions.

Why can’t I log in with my Face ID??? In the mobile app.

Re-ordering restored

The ability to rearrange accounts has been restored! Let’s hope the next broken feature doesn’t take 4 months to fix like this did!

Unusable…

Alliant Banking never has worked at All on Firefox or any other Privacy focused browsers… only on google chrome! Avoid at all costs

Account Organization Restored

Account organization has finally been restored, addressing a major point of friction. App does tend to be on the slow side, but is now perfectly usable.

App is sooo slow and unresponsive - no Zelle no rtp/fednow

FUNCTIONALLY UNUSABLE

As of recent updates the app crashes repeatedly while using. Try to login, crash. Try to view balance, crash. Try to view settings, crash.

I deleted the app, shut my phone down and restarted, re-downloaded and reinstalled.

The problem is actually worse now as balances take forever to load; if they load at all.

The app is now total hot garbage.

Features gone, slow and buggy

You can’t reorder suffixes anymore, so the mobile app is a bit of a mess. Very slow performance, buggy, and unreliable. Extended maintenance windows, some stretching out eight hours or more, are simply unacceptable for an online-only institution.

App crashes constantly

It crashes all the time I have to reopen it every time like 5 time before I can do anything

Crashes are the new normal

As of recent updates the app crashes repeatedly while using. Try to login, click crash. Try to view balance, crash. Try to view setting, crash. This is a you problem, not a me problem.

Code to log in sends too late

It asks for a code sent to your phone to log you in but it doesn’t send till 20 mins later which is too late and it makes you request a new one. Haven’t been able to log in because by the time I receive any code it’s way too late

Really disappointing

Forces update just to see payment due date. User experience and customer service are not really their concern. And that’s if the app will even run ok.
