Awful

Argos Card was 1000% better. This is made impossible to login so they can take late payment fees as you can’t actually make a payment in any way. When I ring up the number provided to make a payment it just cuts you off after you’ve gave your card details. Always say login details are wrong when you try with the app. Asks what the last payment amount you paid is but you can’t remember because it doesn’t even let you make a payment. I’ll stick to using klarna and Clearpay I think, genuinely the worst app on here.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Bring back the old Argos card app!

Extremely disappointed with the new Argos Pay app. The main reason I used the Argos Card for years was the flexible Buy Now, Pay Later options (like 6 or 12 months interest-free). During my recent purchase, those normal plans weren't even available, leaving me with unreasonable interest fees instead. This update completely strips away the main benefit of the card. Why would Argos card make this move? - it’s the worst possible thing they could do to their customers! I’m never using the Argos card to make payments after this - I’d rather use Klarna and the rest.

Terrible

No longer getting any buy now pay later options since new day took over it. I’ve had Argos card for years and never missed or been in any arrears. I rang Argos pay first lady put the phone down on me after struggling to get in touch with them through there automated services. They said that the system chooses when and how much you can use for buy now pay later and you only know at the moment of going through checkout. So Evan though it’s advertised as say buy now pay in 6 months once you go through to pay only options there giving me is plans with interest on them! Once all my Argos account is all paid off ill be closing it down only used it for the buy now pay later to save paying interest but much cheaper options out there than new day worst thing Argos did selling this to new day terrible company

Hi Sorry to hear this hasn’t been a great experience. We’ll pass your feedback about BNPL end dates and payment options on to the team to review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Mera

Possibly the worst app for payments I have ever used

No Apple Pay, no Google pay, set up a direct debit for £100 a month and they set it up as £0, trying to pay manually means you have to go through a second portal and log in to your bank account just to make a payment (online, not through the app, so no Face ID or easy sign in process). It is shambolic and an enormous downgrade from what came before. It’s 2026 and your system would be outdated 15 years ago. Will pay off the remaining balance and never use Argos again, plenty of better alternatives.

Terrible and irresponsible

This app did not work for me also. After many attempts, I finally got through to their phone number to get details to make payments another way. During this conversation I was told there is no complaints contact number or email for me to share the issues and upset it has caused, and despite me wanting to set up payments (as I have never before been late paying Argos) they told that they are in the process of terminating my account.

Other payment options should be/have been made available for Argos customers on their and your website and emails - as I can see from these reviews I was not alone in significant issues with use of this app. Not giving all customers access to their account info and usable payment options is incredibly irresponsible. I will not be buying from Argos ever again, and this is after being a long-time customer.

Awful Awful Awful App

Who actually signed off this app? Did they even test it? It was a lot user friendly and easier before. Totally and unnecessary over complicated. You have to battle through numerous screens to just pay your balance.. Is this part of Argos strategy? Completely frustrate their customers so they miss payments because you have to jump through hoops to make a simple payment, therefore slapping on extra missed payment charges. Poor very poor, whoever signed this app off should be sacked.

Stay clear

New that new day have taken over the Argos finance arm. You now have no option to send the money to wherever you’d like to pay. If you have existing credit on your account. And you subsequently purchase a buy now pay later item. Any money you then pay towards your account goes directly to the outstanding credit. They don’t tell you that this must be paid off first, before you pay towards the buy now pay later item, meaning. If you’re on a budget. And already have an outstanding balance on your account. This will be paid back first. So the BNPL item will end up costing you more. Depending on how much outstanding credit you have. There’s no option to pay this back first. You’re stuck with the interest at the end of the BNPL plan. As you’ve not paid this back within the timeframe you chose.

Absolute ball ache. 🚮

I really dislike this app, genuinely. The Argos Pay app is a huge step backwards compared with the Argos Card app, which was far more straightforward.

With the old app, you simply added what you wanted to your basket, selected the Argos Card, and paid. Job done. With this one, you are forced to jump through an exhausting number of hoops just to complete a purchase. You have to check eligibility, go through additional approval steps, and complete what feels like unnecessary account checks, including details about how long you have lived at your address.

It is frustrating and completely overcomplicated, especially when I already have an Argos Card that I have been using and paying off consistently. I do not understand why the process has become so difficult for something that used to be quick and simple.

First time using the new app

Well at first when downloading the app I was thinking how do I need to sign up I needed my account number which I didn’t have but I called up the customer service line to renew my information on my old account and they took me through security questions and me I feel safe as no other app do this that I know of so when that done they emailed me the info I needed to sign up too now I made my first payment by phone and found it easy and I really love how everything is layed out on the app took me time to understand is but I got there in the end I love how it give you the data and have full control on how what you my email and so on to and found the customer service team was very helpful

Too long

You’ve replaced a well made seamless app with a long drawn out process of making a payment selecting bank nipping from one app to another.
The old app took about 4 minutes to make a payment this one takes nearer 10 minutes no option for Apple Pay which is so much quicker. Instead just click here go to your app go to your bank app approve this approve that go back to your bank go back to Argos app check your status of payment about 14 steps too many.
It should be click on Argos app click what balance and then pay balance via Apple Pay. Whoever cleared this for release wants sacking.

Bad experience

I had a very disappointing experience with Argos Pay and Argos. My order was confirmed, but it was automatically cancelled while I was on my way to collect it, with no clear explanation.

When I contacted customer support, Argos Pay and Argos Retail repeatedly referred me to each other, and neither could explain the cancellation or resolve the issue. Despite contacting both teams countless times, the problem was never resolved.

I was then told that I could not use Argos Pay for the purchase. If I need to use another payment method instead of Argos Pay, then what is the point of having Argos Pay at all? I have available credit on my account, yet I am unable to use it, making the service feel completely useless.

After wasting so much time trying to get a solution, I have decided to close my Argos Pay account permanently. The lack of communication, accountability, and customer support has been extremely frustrating, and this experience has made me lose confidence in both Argos and Argos Pay.

DOWN THE PAN

Basically put I’ve never missed a BNPL plan. Changed to the new app as everyone was forced to do. It didn’t show one of 2 plans I had ending may 16th it only shown one the one it did show I paid as usual the payment automatically gets allocated and they allocated an exact payment of £190 to a £240 plan that was ending the very same day the problem was the £240 didn’t show up in the app correctly so I didn’t see it the other problem is the £190 payment for the £190 plan still exists and so does the £240 that didn’t show up I’ve phone customer service and spoken to somebody who didn’t understand extended English and when talking about credit agreements I think is a bare minimum. Still on the phone to them now they’ve admitted fault but said I still have to pay the interest I’ve asked to speak to a manager who understands what I am trying to explain as it feels like am speaking to artificial unintelligence at this point

Should have left it alone

Since Argos switched to using NewDay Ltd my account doesn’t work, I can’t purchase anything without it saying my credentials are incorrect when they aren’t, I keep getting locked out of my account for no reason, constantly trying to reset it as I need to make a large furniture purchase. I never had any of these issues before. Really silly move on Argos to have changed from Argos card (store card) which worked perfectly fine to a company that is now trying to run it like a credit card and doesn’t even know work

Terrible - avoid!

My mother-in-law is 81 and has held an Argos card for years without issue. She is now unable to access her account.

Despite multiple attempts to register using the exact details Argos have sent - by email and by letter - the account is now blocked. We cannot get past the registration screen. There is no payment currently due, but the distress this is causing an elderly woman who simply wants to manage her own finances independently is not acceptable.

This is not an isolated case. The volume and consistency of negative reviews here points to a systemic failure in this migration, not individual user error.

I would urge someone senior at either Argos or New Day to consider this carefully: under the FCA’s Consumer Duty, firms are required to demonstrate good outcomes for all customers - including those who are vulnerable or less digitally confident. A registration system that is actively blocking elderly, long-standing customers from accessing their accounts is not a grey area. It warrants urgent review.

Argos are currently sending communications encouraging customers to register with a system that does not work. That is not a UX problem. That is a compliance risk.

Winning back customers you have alienated will cost significantly more than whatever savings this migration was intended to deliver. The reviews are telling you something. Act on them.

Appalling

The new Argos Pay app is a massive downgrade from the old Argos Card app. How is it possible to make something that was simple and useful so much worse?

The biggest issue is that you can no longer make payments towards individual plans. The old app let you clearly see your different Buy Now Pay Later plans and pay off whichever one you wanted. That gave customers control over their finances and helped avoid unnecessary interest charges.

Now everything feels less transparent and far more restrictive. Features that were genuinely useful have either been removed or buried, making the app frustrating to use. Instead of improving the experience, Argos has taken away functionality that customers actually relied on.

The previous Argos Card app wasn’t perfect, but at least it allowed people to manage their plans properly. The new Argos Pay app feels like a step backwards in every way. If you’re going to replace an app, it should offer more features, not fewer. Very disappointing.

Why Argos, Why?

Have been with Argos for many wonderful years and had their Argos Card for sometime. You could choose what to pay off first; either a BNPL or a one off purchase, or a percentage of both. You could also use it at Sainsbury’s for groceries.
Along comes New Day and ruins what was a great system.
You cannot choose what to pay off first but you make a substantial payment a few days before your payment date but then if that wasn’t enough, you receive an email advising that your BNPL is ending shortly and you need to finish off the plan. Well, that was what my substantial payment was for, to clear it. But no, not NEW DAY’s way.
Anyway, to cut a long story short. I wasn’t going to put up with this rubbish. So, my account balance is now ZERO and I have CLOSED the NEW DAY account but will continue to shop at Argos but either with my Debit/Credit Card.
A once perfectly great system, now ruined. Bye New Day!!

New day Cards are awful! This app is awful!

Update:

Despite several updates this is still an awful app! Still so difficult to pay by card as I’m not giving these comedians my bank details! The app is so bad I have to still use the website to do anything else but pay.

Old review:

Finally moved from ArgosCard to this awful company as they used a postal address I’d not lived in for over 2 years. Despite tell ArgosCard when I moved. Now trying to pay on this garbage app is useless! I’m not giving you any bank details! Not for a direct debit or logging in with my bank log in. So difficult to pay by card, something ArgosCard did by default. This is an AWFUL app from an AWFUL company. Don’t use them unless you have to.

Not at all user friendly

The old app was so much better and user friendly. Have so many issues just logging into the new app then when I do eventually get in it either kicks me back out or freezes. Unable to make payments to individual payment plans. Example I have one ending October and one that is payable over 3 months…I want to pay off the one over 3 months as that ends first but it won’t allow that. Once these plans have ended I’ll be closing my account.

If you change your phone, you have to start again with all the process

Like many of us, I changed my phone and the app said that my details are wrong. After multiple calls with Newday, still not able to log into the app. How on earth will I be able to make a payment and how likely I will be to buy something from Argos using that card. The app should be easy to use if they want to make money, like most of the similar apps or the older Argos app.

Can’t choose which plan to pay

I have been a loyal Argos Customer for over 15 years and I have always brought stuff like PlayStation, Apple MacBook and IPads over the last 10 years using the BNPL options. With the old system I was easily able to select which plan to pay off in time and this helped me stay on track of my finances but this new system is terrible. I don’t have the option to choose which plan I want to pay off as with other retailers like Very I can easily select which payment plan I can pay towards. I am really considering in closing my Argos card for good and just sticking with Very for simple peace of mind and control over my payment plans. This would be a real shame as I have always enjoyed my experience with Argos over the last 15 years.
