Clunky report entry

BART usually responds to reports made here which is good. However it’s difficult to make a report. It takes forever to enter the info quickly. I wish i could just enter the car number and write the report.

Excellent app

I had homeless gentleman that was smoking crack pipe on the train. Report it on the app at Montgomery bart station and they arrested the guy at lake Merritt, only couple stops down the line.

Works sporadically

1-expecation to take a photograph of troublemakers is ridiculous.
2-as with SFPD expected to answer 1000 descriptive questions about the type of moustache perp has.
3-all it should take is a location and just go down there/enter the car and you’ll see what we’re all seeing.

And many times it does not transmit even when wireless is working fine on phone.

FAQ

What does the BART Watch app do?

The BART Watch app allows public transit riders to quickly and discreetly report suspicious activity directly to transit police. It enables users to send text messages, photos, and their current location. The app also provides alerts for persons of interest.

How can I report something using the app?

You can report a problem by using the 'Report a Problem' button, which allows you to send text or photos to transit police. You can select locations and report categories to help the authorities. For immediate assistance, the 'Call BART Police' button connects you directly to transit police.

Is reporting through the app anonymous?

Yes, riders have the option to send reports anonymously if they choose. This feature enhances discretion and encourages reporting of suspicious activity without revealing the reporter's identity.

What are BOLO Alerts?

BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Alerts are notifications from transit police about specific persons of interest, such as missing persons or children. If you see someone matching a BOLO alert, you should immediately call 911 and also send a discreet report through the app.

Does the app work if I don't have a signal?

The app is designed to store reports if you are in an area without cellular connectivity. The stored reports will be sent automatically once connectivity is restored. The system prioritizes sending text messages before pictures to ensure faster delivery of critical information.
