Good app, not perfect
Ordering in the app works great, and the occasional coupons are very nice. Two issues: In store orders don’t show in the app even if I scan my barcode at the checkout. And the app icon constantly shows a notification badges with 1 unread message even when there isn’t one.
Estimated order time unusable
Estimated order time differs significantly from the actual order wait time. For example I placed an order today where the estimated order time was 8 minutes. My actual order wait time was ~35 minutes. It does not make sense because clearly there is some data that tells me what the actual wait time is but this is not available to me before ordering.

Defaults to tip. Often down. Overpriced coffee.
I recently traveled to Paris and Medellin, Colombia and unfortunate Blue Bottle makes the best coffee I’ve ever had.
Wait times are inaccurate. 4x them
Wait time was estimated at 7 minutes. I arrive in time and wait an additional 20 minutes. This estimate does not appear to be dynamic. Don’t trust the wait time if you’re ordering with the app.
Couldn’t even use my reward
Tried to checkout using my reward, got changed the full price in my bank for the drink.
“No milk” option?
It’s unclear to me whether you can order something like an iced matcha or Americano without adding milk. I try to unclick the add milk option but it seems to be set as default with no option to not add it.

Nothing annoys me like an automated tip for an online order, placed by myself that forces me to opt out of, rather than to opt in, which intentionally requires way too many clicks to change

App stopped working today
I downloaded the app since I am a member for 20 years. First time to download and use the app. Registering with my Blue Bottle Coffee account and when I go into the store, the app stopped working and just hangs now. No discount and 25% off because my app wasn’t working. Horrible especially for a long time customer. App just hangs now and won’t login.

Won’t load
App won’t load even after I force quit it. Stuck on the home page with the logo. Had to delete and reinstall multiple times
Incessant spam
Signed up once to get a coffee. Even used the hide my email feature because I knew they were going to spam me. Explicitly asked not to be spammed and unsubscribed multiple times. None of them honored. Used to love blue bottle but this app oozes sleaziness.
Can’t place orders anymore
After the last update I simply can’t place orders anymore. Kinda lame, was super convenient when it was functioning.

Great except for auto tipping amounts
This is a great app except the sneaky tip section that automatically defaults to 15% so if you’re not paying attention you’re leaving a pretty generous tip for a simple coffee or pastry. Shouldn’t the default be letting people tip whatever they want so they don’t feel duped into spending too much?
Pls add ice options and show available challenges
No options for light/no ice on cold drinks. Also cannot see available challenges anywhere in the app - they appear when I first open the app, but I cannot see them again so don’t know deadlines or progress.
STOP LOGGING ME OUT
the order history receipt timestamp keeps changing, which makes it seem like you’ve been waiting shorter than you have; there is no exact calorie count for your drink until after you buy it; always auto signs you out
Points don’t get processed
Half the time I scan my barcode points don’t get processed so I don’t see the point of having this app.
Default tip and default oat milk are unforgivable
I hate that the default tip is a percentage and the app makes it difficult to select no tip. I tip for service, if I'm ordering on the app and having no human interaction I'm tipping $1 at most. The percentage default is infuriating as I once ordered a bag of beans as well which takes no preparation and inflated the tip to $7 for an iced coffee and bag of beans, which I accidentally paid. Furthermore, I don't understand why milk drinks default to oat. Latte literally means milk, actual milk should be the default and allow customers to select otherwise if they want oat.
