telemedicine for depression/anxiety
while it's limiting that brightside can't prescribe controlled substance, it's still a great place for non-narcotics, such as zoloft, gabapentin, minipress, stratera, effexor, etcetera. much easier than in-office appointments. prescribers and clinicians are well trained and professional.
Terrible
I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I was charged a cancellation fee even though I did not cancel my appointment. I logged in at my scheduled appointment time, confirmed that I joined the visit, and waited for the provider, but no one ever connected. I even attempted to join at two different scheduled appointment times, and the provider never showed up.
It is unacceptable to charge patients a cancellation or no-show fee for an appointment they attended and a service they never received. I ended up having to return to work after waiting with no provider joining the visit, yet I was still billed.
I hope this facility reviews its telehealth attendance records and billing practices because patients should not be financially penalized when the provider fails to show. I would like the cancellation fees refunded and this issue addressed so it doesn’t happen to others

Scam
Dishonest Operation
Beware scam
Signed up because i genuinely need help. Got bounced around from canceled appointment to cancelled appointment for a week straight. Keep in mind you have no way to contact the doctors before they see you and no way to talk to anyone at Brightside besides a message box that says they might get back to you within three days. Had no problem taking my money right away but good luck trying to get help within a week.

Nope
I would not recommend these therapists. I was not listened to, jerked around and then fired after I had sent in the next months bill. The they gave me a discounted refund. Haven’t had anyone to talk to for over a month (that I paid for) nor do the reach out. Surprised I haven’t killed myself yet. Do not recommend. Find better therapists elsewhere.

So appreciative
My therapist Amberlynn is a very kind, compassionate, and understanding human being. She’s patient, gentle, spoken,, helpful and recommends links to educational literature that might be beneficial. It’s that safe space to be yourself and open up and talk.
Review
Complex cases are unethically abandoned by providers. Patients are handled contemptuously unprofessionally, with ego and malice.
Don’t trust your mental health to this company
I came to Brightside because my therapist also worked through them. First off, they don’t have a phone number you can call. Even when I asked them to give me a number or even gave them mine to call me. They continued to email instead. Which leads to the second reason, they don’t actually read the whole email. It’s like they get an AI summary and decide to email based on that. Which means they miss pertinent information or they just don’t read through them They continued to send me the same response in email even when I continued to explain again and again what is I needed and how their instructions didn’t help with what I was asking for. Third, they lied to me saying the therapist I requested informed them she couldn’t see me when SHE was the one who told ME to come over to this company. Fourth, they charged me a $165 no show fee. I tried explaining that I have unpredictable health issues (lupus, pots, two herniated discs). I told them that the night prior I’d taken medication and it caused me to sleep through my alarm. They refused to compromise with me at all. I asked if I were to have a seizure and missed my appointment then I’d be charged $165 for having a seizure? They still refused to compromise with me at all. This is the most ridiculous company I’ve ver dealt with. Save yourself the headache and choose somewhere else!!

Provider swap constantly
They keep switching my providers after I’ve seen them ONE TIME! Sometimes not even the first time. They’ll match me, then before I make the appointment- oops! New provider. This is obviously terrible for therapeutic consistency. What’s going on over there? I’d really like a genuine response because this is practically unethical what you’re doing.

Not flexible.
Quick 10 min calls. Not flexible. If you're 5 mins late to apt they cancel and you have to wait another day for an apt. They will let you go without your medication.

Scam, beware
Received a bill from them months later. Tried contacting support and I have been able to talk to a real person. I don’t think they actually even attempted to bill insurance, but it’s impossible to reach a person to resolve anything. Stay away.
Intake
My intake was really good.
They suck so bad
It’s nothing but pure gaslight from the doctors to try to force you to take the medicines. They want you to take so that they can get kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies. It’s crazy.
Useless
Software is too buggy to be effective. Automated subscription based service
Support
While they app itself is user friendly it is extremely difficult to get in contact with anyone from the support team for assistance beyond the care team. Literally weeks will go by and no follow up. It’s actually concerning .
Trouble logging in to appointment today
I’m concerned that I might be billed for logging into today’s appointment. I was having challenges logging in.

1st shame on me, 2nd shame on you
I gave Brightside a second chance after experiencing billing issues earlier this year, and unfortunately, the exact same problem happened again.
In March, Brightside contacted my insurance company, confirmed that my $55 copay had been applied incorrectly, refunded the charge, and informed me in writing that my insurance covers my visits at 100% with a $0 copay going forward. I appreciated that they acknowledged the mistake and decided to continue using their services.
Fast forward a few months, and I received another $55 invoice. I immediately contacted support before the due date, explained that my insurance has a $0 copay, and explicitly told them they were not authorized to charge my card while they investigated the issue. Support responded that my account had been escalated to their insurance team.
I never received a resolution. I followed up again several days later asking for an update and still received no response. Instead, Brightside charged my card anyway.
The most frustrating part isn’t just the incorrect charge—it’s that this was the same billing error they had already acknowledged and supposedly corrected months earlier. Having to repeatedly monitor invoices, contact support, and fight incorrect charges is exhausting and unacceptable.
If Brightside’s billing department had handled the issue correctly the first time or simply responded before charging my card, this could have been avoided. Instead, I now have to request a refund, cancel my account, and dispute yet another billing issue.
My experience with the providers themselves was positive, but the billing and customer service experience has completely overshadowed that. I cannot recommend a company that repeatedly bills incorrectly, fails to communicate, and charges a payment method after being told not to do so while a billing dispute is pending.
