It’s been years since I’ve seen an app this bad

If EV charging weren’t a more modern phenomenon, I’d assume this app was designed before 2010. No support for Apple Pay, iPhone autofill completely breaks the registration form, but it doesn’t matter since account registration is completely broken… Asks for a credit card, and no matter what card you give it, it will “fail to authorize”. For some reason a card authorization is required to even create an account, but it rejects ANY valid card. It’s probably for the best as if their app is this terrible, you know there are going to be practically zero safeguards in place to protect your personal information, which they ask for an unusual amount of.

If you have the choice, I’d suggest charging elsewhere.

Charger kidnapped my car

When I reached the 80% charge on my car, I swiped in the app to end my session. Nothing happened! I was stuck. The charger was locked on my car and it kept charging. No button mashing worked to free my car. I called the help number and she seemed pretty lost. After she put me on hold for a long while, the charger finally stopped when I reached 93% (15 minutes after I initially hit the button in the app to stop charging) so I freed my car and ran away as fast as possible!

App Doesn’t Even Accept Payment Form

Downloaded this required app at the Circle K Chargers, which look very nice. Setup an account. Entered credit card.
Error
Tried it again.
Error
Tried a different card.
Error
Drove 10 minutes away to a different brand charger. Card worked just fine.
Circle K, if you’re not going to let us pay at the charger, your app should work.

Horrible app, cannot charge car

This thing is so broken it takes 5 times to connect, then when it does it charges for 1 to 2 minutes then shuts off. Do not charge here. Dont be stupid like me, read the reviews first!

Is this app a SCAM?

Went through all of the CC in my wallet.

Wouldn’t take any of them….

Probably collected my info and sold it on the dark web.

Privacy nightmare

Do you really need my name, email, phone number, and home address to let me put a credit card in to charge my car? Other chargers let you tap a card, this is just data fishing

Terrible

Nothing works. Charging stations near me won’t activate. Will never use again

Just let me tap to pay instead… $100 lost to app

Have to dispute with the bank to retrieve $100 (two $50 holds that didn’t release). App doesn’t work, charged for 4 minutes and stopped twice.

Stops After 2 Min

I think there is a problem with the app that is telling the charger to stop after exactly two minutes. Tried multiple stations and multiple times with the same result every time. Shame on Circle K for hobbling its own charge stations. Please just let me pay with my credit card at the machine! Why do we have to bring malfunctioning apps and phones into this transaction? Even the oil barons aren't this cruel.

Data harvester

This app is unnecessary. Why can’t I pay with the card reader that was already working a few months ago

Circle K almost stranded me

TLDR: the only payment option is through this dismal app, which I couldn’t ever even get to work.

My car routed me to a Circle K charger on my first roadtrip with it. I was pretty excited when I pulled up, because the chargers were 250+ and looked clean and fairly new.

Well, they didn’t support the automatic billing with my car. No problem, there’s an icon on the charger for tap to pay. Oh wait, you have to choose it under the “payment options” on the charger screen. When I clicked on that, the ONLY option was to pay with their app.

No worries, I download the app and try to create an account. It requires an insane amount of info. I’m desperate, so who cares. Oh, I can’t actually complete the account setup and add a card. After trying for 20 min, I call customer service, talk to them for another 10, and they give up and let me charge for free for a bit.

Awful experience, I’ll be avoiding Circle K chargers at all costs.

Adding A Card Fails

Wildly horrible app.

Someone should be fired for this app

Awful app, no autofill, horrible account creation process. And the charging product is disgusting, why do I have to download and install a clunky app and set up an account on an awful UX - just so I can plug in?? Surely this can be done frictionless with contactless, no need to force us to use your awful app! Fire your tech team and start again, better still, stop wasting your time launching a charging network, just jump into bed with Tesla

Amateur hour developers

Must have outsourced this app, it’s awful.
Use the web app if you are unable to successfully add a payment method inside the iOS app.

Doesn’t bode well for when I will actually need to charge my vehicle on my upcoming trip.

Zero electricity received

Failed to charge. 10 minutes with customer service and no help. Still cost me $.01. Thanks for the waste of time, mileage, and energy.

Works, but not easily

I originally tried to use this app several months ago, but couldn’t even make it through the enrollment process due to it not accepting one of the many cards that I provided. I believe I left a one star rating and a pessimistic review at the time.

As of October 2025, the app does now allow users (or at least me) to enroll without issue. That said, the enrollment process is painfully clunky. If you can grit your teeth and get through it, the charger search and charge initiation processes are straightforward and work as expected. Circle K has comparatively great pricing in the area I use it.

Note: the charger will show retail rates, but you should be billed for the discounted rate shown in the app as long as your start and end the session in your app.

Challenging for the first time

I did eventually get a Circle K charger to work, but needed to download yet another app that wanted way too much intrusive information. Why is my gender necessary to use my credit card?
Why does this app tell me I can use it as a guest, and then when I tried to do that, it told me I had not signed in?
Sigh
I am assuming now I will have significantly less difficulty at my next Circle K stop. Fingers crossed.

Horrible app. Horrible place to charge

Ostensibly these machines accept credit cards and take a direct tap to begin working however, I could get none to work. As a result, one must download the app, which uses British spellings strangely, and send you activation codes that do not actually activate.

This app is a crime against humanity.

The account creation and credit card workflow is an absolute travesty. Whoever built it has no business designing software.

It will take you multiple attempts to setup an account because the data collection is not validated at each step of the account creation. Rather it only validates AFTER the CC is added.

Well, there are bugs on the personal/address information input page.

The trick is to fill out EVERY FIELD ON THIS PAGE EVEN IF IT IS NOT RELEVANT TO YOU. Just put something in there.

Good luck with a top 5 worst app you’ll ever use.

Don’t waste your time

App is an F- effort at best. Impossible to add a payment method if the existing card on file is no longer valid. Support had zero interest in helping, so CK is now on my blacklist. Oh, to make you use the app, credit card readers are disabled on their chargers.

So the app gets F- grade for being worthless and the network the same for zero customer awareness. Sad, the chargers look expensive, but the attitude seems to put the good intentions to waste.
