Not as good as it was

It’s been several months since the new app and updates to this card and it hasn’t been positive.
The font size on the app is too big for mobile screens making it awkward to read. And there’s no longer any notifications about payments, so if any illegal activity was carried out on your card, you wouldn’t know about it until you log in next.
Lastly, there’s an option to temporarily lock the card however this feature interferes with direct debits even though they are still meant to work. Every month I have important direct debit payments declined when I’ve locked the card.
This used to be a great credit card but now it’s pretty hopeless. If it wasn’t for the flybuys points I would get rid of it.

Response from developer

Hi Ms Hels, we’re sorry to hear that you’re not enjoying the app experience. We’ve passed your feedback to our development team. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we’re always looking for ways to improve.

Worst app ever

So, genuinely the worst app ever. First, had to set up a new flybuys account just to log into the app because it couldn’t handle my existing flybuys. That worked fine for a short time, then I got a new phone and now I can’t log into again and all the reset options end up at ‘something went wrong’. So, called the customer service, who couldn’t fix it and gave me a new number to call, which of course is only open business hours. Silly thing is, all I want is to see my statement and if they just emailed it like they used to, it’s not an issue. Time for a new credit card. Just ridiculous

Hi, we’re sorry to hear that you’re not enjoying the new app experience and having trouble accessing your statements. That’s definitely not the experience we want to provide. At the moment, paper statements are also being posted temporarily, and you can also review your transactions online via the Coles Credit Cards Online Service Centre For more information, please visit coles.com.au/mastercard-live

Mobile chat option?

When is the mobile chat option (within the app itself) going to be available when try to launch it? It’s November 2025. The new system has been live since September 2025. Yet when you try to launch the chat option it still returns with the reply, “Our mobile chat option is under construction”. Having this function available would save being on hold on the phone when trying to sort issues out or when you simply have a query regarding your account.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we work to create a better in-app chat experience, you can still access chat support by tapping 'Open in Browser' when launching chat in the app. Or, you can also access chat support by clicking on the Chat icon on the Online Service Centre. If you still need support, please contact us on 1300 306 397.

From clean and useful to cluttered and clueless

This app used to be perfectly fine — simple, clear, and actually helpful. Then NAB took over and apparently decided we all needed a “modern experience,” which apparently means less function, more fluff.

Now the transaction list shows about two and a half entries per screen because everything has to come with a massive logo and a “category” label. These categories are comedy gold: bin liners = medical, food = fuel, vitamins = gym and fitness. Whoever trained that AI must’ve done it during a power outage. And of course, there’s no option to turn them off or correct them. Why give users control when you can just frustrate them instead?

Filtering transactions? Only by date. Revolutionary.

And even though my statement preference is “Online only,” I’m still getting paper statements — because who doesn’t love some extra junk mail? I’ve changed the setting multiple times, but apparently, the app just thinks I need more recycling practice.

This “upgrade” took a reliable, user-friendly app and turned it into a clunky, bloated mess. Please stop fixing what wasn’t broken.

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional rollout

The new Coles Credit Card App is, frankly, a major step backward. It constantly crashes, freezes, or fails to open at all — making it practically unusable. I have tried every possible fix, including uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, but the same issue returns within a day.

What’s most frustrating is that Coles decided to replace the previous app, which worked perfectly fine, with this poorly tested and unstable version. It feels as though this platform was rushed into release without proper quality assurance or user testing. For a financial institution managing sensitive data and essential services, this level of technical failure is unacceptable.

Customers rely on this app for everyday account management, payments, and transaction monitoring. When it fails repeatedly, it not only causes inconvenience but also undermines trust in Coles’ digital reliability. I strongly urge Coles and Citi to take immediate action to stabilise the app, address these ongoing issues, and ensure future updates are properly tested before being pushed to users.

Until then, this app cannot be considered ready for public use, and it reflects very poorly on the brand’s commitment to customer experience.
