Imagine the kind of person who actually wants to get constant email from Domino’s pizza. Really — close your eyes and picture that person. I bet he’s not exactly … attractive. Probably doesn’t have a real active social life. He’s wearing sweat pants, isn’t he? With marinara stains on them. And probably some other stains too.
Every time I order, I get signed up for emails that I don’t want, and I have to go through the process of unsubscribing. Often I get an error message and stay subscribed. I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I have a hard time believing this isn’t intentional. Even if I do successfully unsubscribe, it’s only from one type of marketing email, and there are other email categories I’m still signed up for against my will.
Some of the emails don’t have an unsubscribe button. Some of them specifically say you can’t unsubscribe without unenrolling in their rewards program — you know, the one they try to trick you into signing up for.
I went as far as to contact Domino’s corporate to get unsubscribed from everything. And that worked, right up until I ordered another pizza a few months later.
I’m foregoing rewards just to avoid the insane amount of email. And to be clear, by insane amount, I mean any amount of email from a pizza restaurant — there is no acceptable amount. But I also mean an email or two just about every day. Domino’s sends more email than any other person or company I get email from, and it’s not even close.
I want to have a box in my settings that I can check that says “Never contact me for any reason whatsoever.” Other than when I go to the physical location or get a delivery, I don’t ever want to interact with this company outside of the app. Make that happen and I’ll give you a five star review.
But as it stands I have to either block all Domino’s email or use a burner account. Better idea — I started using Slice and ordering from local, non-chain pizza places instead.
I eat pizza maybe once a month. It shouldn’t be this hard to be left alone.
Amateur Hour - frequently down when I need it
On the UX side, when I’m customizing my pizza, why does it not show the new total price? Do you think your pizza is so amazing that price doesn’t matter?Terrible!
Dominos, I believe you guys pioneered have realtime order status in 2008, right? What happened?
Broken as hell
What’s the Price?
So many problems since the overhaul
At least bring back the reorder feature.
