Great Cameras, But Two-Way Audio Needs Improvement
My biggest complaint is the two-way audio feature. It works more like a walkie-talkie than a phone call—you have to press and hold the Talk button to speak, and while speaking, you can’t hear the other person. On top of that, the audio is sometimes choppy, with delays and unclear sound, which makes conversations frustrating.
I strongly recommend adding a true full-duplex two-way audio mode, so both sides can speak and listen simultaneously, just like a regular phone or video call. Improving the stability and clarity of the current two-way audio would also make a big difference.
Eufy has a great camera system and a very user-friendly app. If the two-way audio experience were improved, I would consider it an excellent security camera system.
I Thought I Was Buying a Surveillance System. I Bought Into a Marketing Ecosystem.
After actually living with them, I feel like I bought into a marketing company more than a surveillance company.
The cameras miss events they should catch, then bombard me with useless detections. The app has its own problems and constantly tries to sell me something. Buy the cameras, then it’s HomeBase, cloud storage, memberships, additional AI/services, and now more expensive hardware with more paid features. Eufy heavily sells the “no monthly fee” idea, but once you’re in the ecosystem, there are upsells everywhere. At some point, “optional” starts looking a lot like microtransactions.
What bothers me most is that they’re extremely good at marketing new features while the basic job of reliably recording what’s happening still isn’t reliable enough.
I’ve also noticed a weird pattern while researching the same problems. Detailed negative reviews describing issues similar to mine regularly get replies brushing them off with some version of “mine works fine” or “I don’t have that problem.” That’s not an answer. Your camera working doesn’t mean somebody else’s problem doesn’t exist. I’ve seen it often enough that I’ve become skeptical of those replies.
I bought Eufy specifically for local storage, ownership, and no subscription. Eight cameras later, I’m far more impressed by Eufy’s ability to sell me the next thing than I am by its ability to build a dependable surveillance system.
If I were starting over, I wouldn’t buy Eufy.
Iffy at best
Horrible
Ok product, horrible sales
Saw the S4 two camera bundle with homebase, I was really excited about the order.
However its was not clear at the time of order that it was a “presale” item.
It made zero mention of a delayed shipment.
Wait a week, ask them where it is, “oh look at your product page for the presale dates” no eufy you do it, it doesn’t exist on the product page.
The product looks great, the order process is abysmal, and beyond anything in the world if you run with deceit, I will not reward deceptive practices.
Cancelled order, I will settle for a lesser product if need be.
Frustrating
Useless
Atkin
Not consistent
Seems that each version just gets worse
Trash Ecosystem & Zero Support
Buggy AI
Shady app Data collection
Every update seems to create more problems. I stopped updating and the glitches stopped. Still works better than my previous Arlo camera system
