Great Cameras, But Two-Way Audio Needs Improvement

Overall, I’m very happy with my Eufy security cameras. The video and audio quality are very good, and the app is easy and convenient to use.

My biggest complaint is the two-way audio feature. It works more like a walkie-talkie than a phone call—you have to press and hold the Talk button to speak, and while speaking, you can’t hear the other person. On top of that, the audio is sometimes choppy, with delays and unclear sound, which makes conversations frustrating.

I strongly recommend adding a true full-duplex two-way audio mode, so both sides can speak and listen simultaneously, just like a regular phone or video call. Improving the stability and clarity of the current two-way audio would also make a big difference.

Eufy has a great camera system and a very user-friendly app. If the two-way audio experience were improved, I would consider it an excellent security camera system.

I Thought I Was Buying a Surveillance System. I Bought Into a Marketing Ecosystem.

I own 8 Eufy cameras across three properties, so this isn’t based on one bad camera.

After actually living with them, I feel like I bought into a marketing company more than a surveillance company.

The cameras miss events they should catch, then bombard me with useless detections. The app has its own problems and constantly tries to sell me something. Buy the cameras, then it’s HomeBase, cloud storage, memberships, additional AI/services, and now more expensive hardware with more paid features. Eufy heavily sells the “no monthly fee” idea, but once you’re in the ecosystem, there are upsells everywhere. At some point, “optional” starts looking a lot like microtransactions.

What bothers me most is that they’re extremely good at marketing new features while the basic job of reliably recording what’s happening still isn’t reliable enough.

I’ve also noticed a weird pattern while researching the same problems. Detailed negative reviews describing issues similar to mine regularly get replies brushing them off with some version of “mine works fine” or “I don’t have that problem.” That’s not an answer. Your camera working doesn’t mean somebody else’s problem doesn’t exist. I’ve seen it often enough that I’ve become skeptical of those replies.

I bought Eufy specifically for local storage, ownership, and no subscription. Eight cameras later, I’m far more impressed by Eufy’s ability to sell me the next thing than I am by its ability to build a dependable surveillance system.

If I were starting over, I wouldn’t buy Eufy.

Iffy at best

Love the solar charging cameras but the software or sensors have much to be desired. It often misses recordings and i should have heeded the warning from another person who uses them saying the same thing. Maybe the home station isnt powerful enough for moderate home monitoring and a different model would do better?? But for the price yikes!

Horrible

App stops responding after 10 seconds. Tried everything. Happens on multiple devices.

Ok product, horrible sales

I started with a few basic eufy cameras, the product was good enough to recommend to my old landlord.
Saw the S4 two camera bundle with homebase, I was really excited about the order.
However its was not clear at the time of order that it was a “presale” item.
It made zero mention of a delayed shipment.
Wait a week, ask them where it is, “oh look at your product page for the presale dates” no eufy you do it, it doesn’t exist on the product page.

The product looks great, the order process is abysmal, and beyond anything in the world if you run with deceit, I will not reward deceptive practices.

Cancelled order, I will settle for a lesser product if need be.

Frustrating

The use of the app to view our doorbell is unreliable.

Useless

This app is becoming more and more useless after every update. After uninstalling and reinstalling it didn’t change anything. Very disappointed with this app. Eufy, do better!!!

Atkin

Currently not working. When using the toggle feature the App currently registers all cameras as on, when they are offline. The switch is not working across all family logins. Please fix.

Not consistent

Can’t consistently control the cameras. Does not always park the camera consistently when in privacy mode.
Seems that each version just gets worse

Trash Ecosystem & Zero Support

I have invested thousands of dollars over 10 years across 12+ Eufy devices, and I can confirm this entire ecosystem has devolved into an unreliable nightmare. The software and hardware are fundamentally broken: 1) Unstable Connections: Despite fast fiber internet, cameras constantly go offline, fail to connect, or crash the app when opening notifications. 2) Useless Motion AI: The app blasts alerts for spiders weaving webs, yet fails to record a 30-lb raccoon destroying my yard. Clips arbitrarily cut off after 20 seconds, missing critical events. 3) Defective Hardware: The Video Doorbell Dual bracket latch jams constantly, turning a routine battery recharge into a violent struggle to yank the unit off the wall. 4) Zero Support: When my floodlight camera bricked and vanished from the app, customer service put me through a 3-week nightmare of AI bots, 4-day delays, and 2 escalations. Their final "solution" was an insulting 30% discount code, expecting me to pay out-of-pocket again and hire an electrician to reinstall faulty hardware. Parent company Anker ($2B revenue) refuses to stand behind their products because they know this hardware isn't built to last. Save your money and switch to Reolink, Lorex, or Google Nest!

Buggy AI

Alert shows “Human”, actual video shows a cat walking by, but focus pic shows pizza delivery guy from 3 days ago? Weird.

Shady app Data collection

this app is designed to collect data for app developers that sell it to data brokers.
Every update seems to create more problems. I stopped updating and the glitches stopped. Still works better than my previous Arlo camera system

More bugs

Yet another update that does not fix the bugs that are killing the app and even worse adds even more bugs with the new update what a shame it’s no longer reliable now solar charging dash board for s340 has stopped working saying it’s not charging but it’s 100% battery charge

Garbage

One of the worst products I've ever got. Don't waste your money!

App doesn’t let me add the camera

App doesn’t let me add the solar camera

Getting worse and worse. INTRUSIVE. Buggy

Getting worse and worse. INTRUSIVE. Buggy

Never write review but this app is inspiring

The app simply doesn’t work! I have tried to accept an invitation from a family member and you cannot click certain buttons in the app! they just won’t work. Another example is if you try to get help for said button issue, you can reach out to customer service in the app but then the button to end or “x” out of the chat doesn’t let you click either so you have to restart the whole app! Absolutely the worst app and will absolutely be purchasing ring products next time due to this. Yikes, get it together.

Wall Light Cam S100

Anyone else’s AI totally WASTING recording space on your Homebase by CONSTANTLY ‘identifying’ chairs or shadows as ‘people?’ And CONTINUALLY recording for a few hours? Wow 😮. NOT great for ‘security.’ 🤨🧐🙂‍↔️😒😤

trash c20

paid over $300 for the c20 and it’s a horrible product that seems to love getting stuck on the most random things. Door stoppers.. etc. the app is also so laggy and in order to track cleaning progress you have to refresh the app by closing it and reopening.

Frustrating

The appliance itself is good (it does its job and sucks everything up), but the technology needs some serious work. My vacuum will randomly disconnect itself from the wifi and I have to go through a whole reset and setup process to get it back online. Or anytime I have to reset my router, the vacuum doesn’t automatically reconned and I have to go through the reset and setup. This should be a more user-friendly process with fewer steps. Additionally, the app will randomly delete my maps, which is downright infuriating. Every now and then when I go into the app to start a clean, I’ll find my map is gone and I have to start from scratch with having the vacuum map out my condo, and I have to set up the rooms and no-go zones all over again. I’m getting pretty sick of this and I’m thinking about exploring other brands.
