Experian AI false alerts
Experian’s computers sent me an alert because it detected activity on a “dormant account”, an account which it thinks hasn’t been used in 6 months. The credit card it thinks was dormant was last used in May and then I used it again in July. That’s usage every 2 months, not six. This is an example of why AI doesn’t work and sends unnecessary alerts.

Decent app, but service lies
The app is well-structured and a clean presentation - I’ve been relying on it for years. But I was dismayed this morning when I got an email alert that said my credit was “poor”, after many months of good-to-exceptional status.
Sure enough, when I opened the app, I was still “Exceptional” and nothing had changed, but got the usual “Enroll in Premium” pop up first.
I’ll bump my rating back up once I get a satisfactory response from Experian, but otherwise I don’t appreciate being lied to just to drive engagement.

This app is a bit tricky. My sister asked me about her credit score. It’s below 600. The Experian app says she’s paid off and closed those bad credit cards. I had to explain that Experian doesn’t immediately show negative information. Only when you tap on a closed account does it show any late payments. That’s the a big negative. For her, it’s important to carefully check the data and correct any mistakes. Moving forward, she should make sure to pay her bills on time every month. Here’s a thought for Experian: If an account has negative info, it would be great if there was a red flag icon next to the account name and a status word like “Neg” (Negative). That way, users would know to tap on the account to see the details. My sister is smart, but I can’t blame her for thinking the clean, simple way the accounts are laid out means everything is fine when it is not.
