Not Always Operative
For the most part this thermostat has been good. However, the time schedule doesn’t always function as programmed. I’m about to contact our service provider regarding its performance.
Accessibility challenges
My wife and I are both blind and we use this app to control our two HVAC systems. We would be unable to control them at all, but for this app. On the other hand, it is difficult to tell which of the systems we are controlling and frequently it takes far longer than it should to make modest adjustments in either one.

False alerts
Keep getting false alerts on new detectors.
Fix Vacation Mode
New: I wish when I adjusted Vacation Mode for the thermostats, it wouldn’t automatically change the start time to the future. I only want to adjust the end time. Please keep the start date and time the same as before unless I change it.
Old: These thermostats (X8S) are continually going offline, online, offline, online. Today has been 10 times each one. I have these in multiple locations so I know it’s not a local internet issue. I don’t want to disable notifications, and I was going to get these for another location but not now. Increase the amount of offline time before they notify. Stop the madness! Update: this has been much better lately. Maybe goes offline/online once per month.

Thermostat will not connect to Alexa through the app

Whenever the thermostat is connected to the app it will NOT kick off and on like it is supposed to. Iv tried it a few times testing this. Tried different settings. Every time it just runs. The app messes with it somehow and it just runs as soon as I “delete the device”

Noticeable delay
Not as responsive as the resideo app, takes longer for the AC to kick on
Offline reconnect
Can not get thermostats to go back online remotely. Without beiny next to them onsite.
App doesn’t scale to multiple devices
Switched 12 thermostats for radiant system from Resideo app. Good usability but no big upgrade in capability. One major feature downgrade is no ability to reorder items in this app. That is a serious flaw for my use with many thermostats and I imagine would be an issue for any customer with multiple devices. Needs to be fixed unless this app and company don’t want consumers to use multiple devices.

Remote occupancy sensors
The system permits adding remote room sensors that provide that specific rooms temp, and occupancy. Based on that, it should turn ac on/off . It has not done that for me. My research before buying the sensor, it uses infrared to determine if there is a person in the room. It doesn’t work well
iPhone notification same sound as every other alert on phone…. Makes fire alerts useless…
There is no way currently to customize the alert sound/notification of a smoke or fire alert on either the app or iPhone… makes the notification useless unless you’re one of those people that check every single alert on your phone… serious developer oversight..
First Alert Thermostat control
The First Alert Resideo software has done an excellent job of managing our electronic thermostat. The install was a little quirky but a brief contact with tech support solved the issue. It's been functioning perfectly ever since. I've also been pleased on how it's reset after any power outages.

Mickey Mouse
The display looks like was created by an amateur designer. It does not display when cool is running only “cool is on” which displays that the cool is set not that it is running. Prior app displayed when cool or heat is actually running. Will be replacing with a different brand.
Great Thermostat App but (Needs Dark Background Mode)
Great app as I am coming from Google thermostat platform. An improvement can be adding the use of a dark background mode to make it look aesthetically pleasing.
Need Celsius units!!!
Just installed the app for my new HVAC system and there is no unit in Celsius only Fahrenheit!? I use to have the other Resideo app and everything was ok I could choose the units I wanted…

Doesn’t work, not on iPhone or Mac.
Absurd requirements
The app will not connect without being granted an absurd amount of private information and data access. There is absolutely no reason that full gps location access should be required to connect to a device on my local network. Nor should the company need my complete address to allow me to use my device. Unable to use the app, my “smart” device is pretty dumb and i will return my Honeywell device for a cheaper model or one with more reasonable data requirements.

Updated and broken
The new version, while it may have added features, is broken. I am no longer able to access the thermostat. When I try and add it back, it never appears in the list as it did before.
