No scan product option and other things

I downloaded this app and does not have any ability to scan for product rather than typing.

Does not have the ability to search by brand name to see if it is FODMAP safe.

Cannot search quite a few things and nowhere to be listed such as Bell peppers. I do shop at No Frills and Loblaws but not finding this app very helpful.

Also I am worry about privacy and not selling my email after signing up .

I live in Canada but this app does not help much as mentioned above.

Can’t even sign up for an account

I downloaded the app, tried to sign up as a new user, and I can’t because the app doesn’t recognize my city and says it doesn’t exist. Useless.

Response from developer

Hi Rachel, thank you for your feedback. If you choose the closest city in your area this will be adequate. Kindest, the FF team

Nicely done.

This is the best app that I have used thus far. Straight forward to use, has most single ingredient foods and no adds.

Thank you for your great review Tomas_401!

Very helpful for this diet but…

It has a lot of helpful tools and I like the variety of recipes, they look like things I’d want to eat even off of this diet. But it drives me crazy that every time I click on a recipe to look/add it, it starts you over at the beginning of the recipes again, I mean if you’re trying to browse through. Even with app background refresh turned off.

I wish the recipe maker also had some common processed ingredients in it, like (insert popular brand) gluten free flour. Which would be commonly used instead of trying to come up with our own version of flour. (Gluten free mainly due to it being low fodmap bc wheat isn’t.)

Thank you :)

Hi khgdrynn, thank you for your feedback and bringing the recipe scroll glitch to our attention. Our app developers are working on resolving this issue and you should expect this to be fixed in the new update. Our Food List does have generic tested ingredients. Generic gluten free flour was under "Flour, GF". This has since been edited to spell out the words "gluten free" to be easier to find when searching for ingredients. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope this helps! Kind regards, the FODMAP Friendly team

Requires too much personal info to use

I can see an app like this wanting to know the country we live in, or maybe even the state, but you don’t need to know my city and/or zip code. It will not let you continue without creating an account, and you can’t create an account without providing your city and zip code. These should be optional for those who want to find ingredients/products near them (with the ability to both add or rescind it later if you choose), but you should not be forcing people to give out that kind of data. It’s too bad bc I was even considering paying the one-time fee for the recipe creator feature, but that won’t be happening since I can’t even get into the app.

Stop requiring more personal data than people want to give. At minimum, make it optional. Yeah I could just make a location up, but it irked me enough that I’m just saying nope to the app as it stands.

Access problems

Can’t access it. Keeps asking for a valid email but won’t let me input one

Great app!

I had some trouble setting up my account at first, but the developer was very quick to respond and got the problem solved. The app is very user friendly, and I like how everything is categorized for easy searches. I’m looking forward to using this app!

Hi mattiemay17, thank you for your lovely review. We are glad we were able to resolve your issue in a timely manner and hope you enjoy the app! Kind regards, the FODMAP Friendly team

Won’t accept my email address

I had high hopes, but “FODMAP Friendly” is not friendly to me. It refuses to allow me to create an account with my email address … ***@comcast.net … (replace stars with my name). It says it is not a valid email address. UGH. What is wrong with this app?!

FODMAP Stacking information-woo hoo!

TL;DR: Recipe Maker solves stacking; ONLY one time charge of $2.99

I’m just starting FODMAP, which is challenging since identifying short-chain carbohydrates is not intuitive. The biggest hurdle for me has been combining foods into a recipe or meal without stacking FODMAP friendly ingredients together inadvertently making a FODMAP unfriendly meal.
The Recipe Maker calculates the FODMAP load of each individual component, eg monosaccharides vs polyols) so you can remove or substitute ingredients or adjust the volume to develop an overall FODMAP friendly (for YOU) recipe or meal. Stacking mystery solved!!! It requires a little patience to input everything for recipes with a variety of ingredients, but SO worth it! The one time charge (which is not a subscription) is a bargain! The free trial lets you play around with a couple of recipes with some limited functionality, which I found helpful to test it out before purchasing it.

Worth downloading

So much better than the other fodmap app. This one has all the food listings plus tons of recipes.

Fraudulent Undisclosed “in-app” purchases

App Store description does not state it requires in app purchases to use recipe maker. Developer repeatedly and fraudulently stated in response to multiple different reviews it is free e.g. “Developer Response 1y ago
Thank you for this feedback. This has been taken into consideration and the app is now free for all uses :)”

Response from developer

Hi Dave 365, We thank you for taking the time to provide your review. We will take on your feedback about our App Store description and look to update this to be clearer that the Recipe Maker is a paid in-app feature. Regarding the Developer feedback from 1y ago "the app is now free for all users", this was in response to a review from way back in 2017 when users used to have to pay to download our app. We apologise if this was confusing or misleading. Our app is now free to download, and users get access to our hundreds of lab-tested ingredients in the Food List, Certified Products, Dietitian Directory, Recipes, Meal Plans and more at no cost. The only paid feature is the Recipe Maker. For only USD $2.99 for a game-changing tool that exists nowhere else in the market - we feel this is a fairly reasonable price :) We hope you enjoy the app and if you wish to discuss further, please send us an email at app@fodmapfriendly.com. Paid $2.99 to support (not working on iPad mini)

Cannot login from my iPad mini 7th gen. I’m already logged in on my iPhone.

The issue:
1. Using the same password and email, I tried logging in through my iPad mini.

2. It keeps saying verify email when I hit enter.

3. It never sends a verification

4. Why would I have to verify anyways, I already did when I first logged in though my iPhone

Response from developer

Hi Lost in Tactics, Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties logging in on your iPad. Our app is supported with iPad mini 7th gen and users are able to login to multiple devices using the same login. Our app developers are more than happy to investigate this further for you. If you are please able to email us at app@fodmapfriendly.com so we may continue the investigation for you. Looking forward to hearing from you and getting this fixed for you ASAP! Privacy Concerns

I’m going to give this app a try because it was recommended and because I need the help. But there is absolutely no need for my province, city, and full postal code all to be required fields to create an account. As it turns out, my own city and the capital city of my province aren’t available as options anyway (“not found”). I don’t mind entering my country. City & province are pushing it. I resent having to provide my full postal code &/or having to waste time figuring out a fake city & fake PC. If the app helps I’ll keep using it but until that data grab is fixed it will be under protest.

Hi fivepens, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We ask our users their location so that we can better understand where our audience are coming from so that we may tailor the experience to suit them. We use a generic database of cities/towns and provinces/states. If you cannot locate yours on there, please choose the next closest to you. All data is kept strictly confidential and is not shared. You can find more information inside our Privacy Policy. We thank you again for your feedback and will take this into account during future updates. Kind regards, the FF team

Really useful, lacks vegetarian meat alternatives

This app has been really useful to plan meals, I also paid for the recipe making option which isn’t necessary but makes working out whether your meal is fodmap friendly when added together much easier. Would be great to include more vegetarian options within the database such as myco-protein used heavily in Quorn products.

Excellent

I’m a long term user of Monash University’s App but this FODMAP Friendly App has made me a very happy new user. It really is easy to use.

Response from developer

Hi Notusedever, Thank you for your great feedback! Please share with your friends and family! Kind regards, The FODMAP Friendly team

Recipe Maker is so helpful and affordable

I can’t believe it only costs $2.99 to have a FODMAP stacking calculator that allows me and my clients to make our own low FODMAP recipes - you guys should charge more for this! I’m going to tell all my dietitian colleagues, what an incredible evidence based resource!

Response from developer

We think it's pretty great too! We want more people following this diet to have confidence in preparing their own foods, so we've kept the price low. Please share with your clients and colleagues, we would be very appreciative! :) Kind regards, the FF team

Love the new features!

But unfortunately the recipe maker keeps crashing! Updated my phone, hopefully that helps!

Response from developer

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We are happy to report the Recipe Maker is now functioning correctly. We hope to see you back on the app very soon! The FF team

Best Fodmap App

I like this app because of the layout and the graphics. It has everything, even recipes. And it’s free!

The foods listed are extensive. I especially value the feature that shows the recommended quantity of the food that you can eat. They show this quantity in both volume and weight.

When you click on a food, the graphics are awesome for the percentages of your daily max in each Fodmap category (sorbitol, mannitol, fructans, GOS, Lactose, Excess fructose.)

Thank you for your wonderful review FridaRos!

Wants too much personal info

Not sure I want more spam

I’ll create a new burner email address. FODMAP is a potential issue for me.

Not diagnosed so not willing to get more unsolicited emails
