worst ever
cars were always filthy and requiring maintenance. sometimes the lot was jammed full & could not access reserved vehicle. they tell you that metered parking in SF, CA is free or already paid. not true. also, if you get a parking ticket, they send you a bill for it with a hefty fee tacked on. THEN they bill you a fine of $175 on top of that for “unauthorized parking.” apparently it is very easy for thieves to break into and steal these cars. one of my rentals was stolen from in front of my building. i tracked it down parked behind a locked gate several blocks away, and immediately reported the theft. what did they do? put my account on hold while they “investigated.” i gave up trying to rent from them after a few weeks of this. next thing i notice they’re trying to bill me another $350 for “unauthorized driver.” and “unauthorized parking.” that would be whoever stole the car and parked it in a locked parking lot. unbelievable. fortunately i had the foresight to block charges to my card from these racketeers. good luck getting another dime outta me, PIG, RIG, JIG, WIG or whatever your fictitious name is.

If I could leave -5 stars I would!!!
What happened was the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and your team should be ashamed your “help bot” is worse than Siri in Beta mode. Your bot says 2 things: Here’s an article! And “can you rephrase your question?”
I live in LA, which your team knew when I entered my addess during signup. But of course that didn’t stop you from pulling $40 from my account and giving me a credit for a service I can’t even use. And then I get the runaround from Siri’s less intelligent nephew bot. I gotta hand it to you…. It’s a great way to make quick cash when you’re still growing. But until I get my $$$ back and compensation for my time, this review will stay posted. If I can get one customer to run the other way, I’ve done my job. But we all know this review will lose way more customers than that. Make it right! Thank you. -Timothy Dove

Complete scam, benefit on fraudulent charges
I received a $1000 charge from gig accusing me to cause “scratches” to the car 10 days after a 10min trip. I have been using gig quite a bit lately so I didn’t remember to take videos of the car every time. But I’m sure that I didn’t get into any collision. I parked the car and ended the trip late at night and they said the person rented the car the NEXT MORNING reported scratches. 1) how can they prove that the damage is made by me but not anyone overnight, or worse, the second renter? So basically I’m not only responsible for the car’s condition during the 10min I’m using it but also until the next renter starter another trip???
2) what sort of scratches would cost $1000 dollars to repair?? I asked for photo proofs but they cannot offer those either, so it seems they just randomly charges customers of thousands of dollars and profit from them?

App crashes every time I try to end the rental
Every time I try to end the rental be it the “pay as you go” or “pay for the day” the app has trouble with ending my rental. I would have an email confirming my rental has ended but the app will still count my time with the car and stay on the screen with the now “no longer needed” rental. I have contacted customer support before but their advice is to just delete the app and reinstall it. Which is a bit like have you tried turning it off and turning it back on.
Additionally, their cars are not as well serviced as advertised. Admittedly you would hope also that people renting the car would have the common decency to clean after themselves or at least air out the car.

A great company that has become greedy with the amount they charge.
I’ve been using Gig car for 2 years now in Seattle. It clearly beat out its competitors with the convenience of being able to pick them up from anywhere across the city and drop them off anywhere within the blue zone. The prices for both short term and long term drives were incredibly well priced and an easy choice over any other rental companies, especially with the inclusion of gas, and insurance.
Recently however, their prices and fees have fallen dramatically behind their competitors. They no longer offer the ability to book a multi day trip for a flat fee which means instead of looking at gig cars my friends and I have booked cars through Zip car and Turo instead.
An 8 hour flat fee through gig car is about $107 with fees and zip car is $79 total.
My reason for writing this review is because of my most recent experience with them. I took a $17 ride from a friends house late at night. I parked infront of my apartment and was a foot too close to a fire hydrant. That $17 ride became a $361 one because I was charged $201 for a technician to come out and get the car and $146 for parking in an unauthorized place. I know I’m in the wrong. But it’s upsetting to be charged massive amounts that I can’t afford for a ticket that in Seattle would only cost $38. I will no longer be using this service and have advised all of the people I initially recommended it to to switch to their competitors.
