Beware

They will take your money and turn off your service. Not a good company.

Great on Wi-Fi

Google Fi is a great service if you only want to be able to use your phone while connected to Wi-Fi. If you are looking to make phone calls or connect to the Internet without the use of Wi-Fi, you’re better off getting a walkie-talkie or dial up Internet the data service and cell service work absolutely nowhere from Midtown Manhattan to Central Pennsylvania. You might get the occasional five minutes of connectivity, but other than that, it’s basically effectively useless.

Worst service

Was without service for a month charge me for a phone that I paid for eventually left and went to a different carrier saw on my bank they charged me $230

Buggy on iPhone

I contacted the customer service through the chat on the app regarding connection issues. The chat disappeared. Later I received notifications for messages on the chat and when I click the notification the app opens up at the initial page but not the message or the chat. I offloaded the app to delete the cache but no change. Needs significant improvement in the customer service department.

Okay service

This service is okay! However I did want to Mention that there is No such thing as Unlimited Like they claim they have, ones you reach a certain amount oF data. Then they end up charging you a Hell oF a lot extra. And Next thing you know you have over a 100$ bill you have to pay! And those so called unlimited data doesn’t Last very Long unfortunately. So technically this is False advertisement.

⚠️ Terrible first impression

It's a good service but not the best specially if you're in the Apple ecosystem, and switching over from T-Mobile in hopes to save money.
Despite the cons, we'll see how this year treats me.
It's July 2026. Expect updates either 3, 6 or 12 months from now. I'll leave those past the Cons list.

CONS:
Took over 24 hours to activate wifi calling on my iPhone and generate the eSIM QR code for my iPad. That eSIM turned out to be data-only, so if you leave your phone somewhere, you’ve got no way to call.

Bigger issue: taxes and fees were never shown until after the plan was fully activated. Our “$135” plan came out to $152 for 3 lines. Still saving $40 versus T-Mobile, which included a $15 tablet data eSIM with calling, but the lack of upfront pricing isn’t okay.

Customer support responds fast but feels undertrained, lots of script-reading and repeat questions confirming devices/lines. T-Mobile agents felt like they actually knew the product.

Overpriced for International Travel — Save Your Money

I don’t recommend Google Fi if you travel internationally. My wife and I communicate almost exclusively through FaceTime Audio, yet I was still charged far more than I expected. A $50 credit was applied afterward, but that doesn’t change the fact that the bill was unreasonable.

If you’re traveling, save your money. Get a local SIM or eSIM and use WhatsApp or FaceTime over Wi-Fi or mobile data to stay in touch with friends and family. In my experience, that’s a much better option than paying for Google Fi’s international service.

Worst customer support. They treat you like they own you

Been using it for a few years. Connection in other countries can be unpredictable and unstable even on the top plan. Like suddenly you have no data even though you are in a good reception zone. Customer support is remote and doesn’t care. Just had a call with them, the guy was clearly messing with me and talking like the company has some kind of power over me and owns me. And he didn’t send me a transcript of our call as he promised.

Abysmal app

Trying to do a free trial on my iPhone 17 pro and i click my email to use and it freezes. Every time i try to reopen the app just hangs and doesn’t load. I’ve deleted the app and redownloaded about 5 times and it’s the same thing every time. 0/5 stars actually unusable and the developers should be fired.

Good luck transferring

I recently tried to transfer my phone number to a new device on google fi. The number was correctly deactivated on my old device but I was completely unable to activate it on the new one. Even more frustrating, I couldn’t reactivate it on the old device either, leaving me with no way to restore service. Google Fi support has been polite, but ultimately unhelpful in resolving the issue. Ive now been without the ability to receive calls or texts for several days. This outage has locked me out of critical accounts that need for both work and personal matters, many of which rely on SMS verification or two factor authentication.
This has been an incredibly disruptive and stressful experience. Google Fi needs to fix their device transfer process so customers aren’t left without service for days.

Coverage is terrible, Never use Google Fi

1. Premium plan does not provide the international coverage as promised. 2. Difficult to cancel the service due to its terrible coverage. 3. Unreasonable billings

Absolutely not

I have had GoogleFi for 9 months now. Everyone said this was the best carrier while deployed. This is NOT, most carriers work well overseas now. First when first connecting to googlefi was a hassle and you mainly had to deal with automated messages and when you do finally get someone their accent is so heavy you can barely understand each other. Then while deployed in a warzone, I was getting charged ridiculous amounts. They advertise free calls to the US but apparently it’s only from certain countries because for one month, only one line, I was charged almost $400. And the following bills were never below $200. I heavily regret switching to GoogleFi and I will steer people clear from every going with GoogleFi. Also when you are ready to cancel, they will cut service but warn you that it’ll take 60 days to process and you will be charged accordingly. So be prepared for that. As if they didn’t screw me over enough, they have to screw you one last time. Do not use this service if you value your money.

Ugly app: it doesn’t let me use!!!

I’m using a physical SIM card iPhone 16, but this ugly app doesn’t support physical SIM cards for iPhone 16. So I changed to iPhone 12, and downloaded an old version of this app. When I open it, it forces me to update but that’s already the highest version available. The worst thing is Google sets it in a brute force way that if you don’t update you cannot use it!!!! But it cannot be updated!!!!

Disaster switch after 35 easy years with AT&T

Switched because of cost and living in US and Europe. Everything has been difficult but the worst is the ridiculous support. First one told me to change a setting which disconnected us. 3 or 4 other useless ones. Last was chat who asked me to turn phone off and on. I told her I was worried I would lose her. She said the chat would pop right back up after restart. Of course it didn’t. Terrible and still not working. They say it takes 20 minutes and status says switch was successful but nothing is working. Now a supervisor claimed it would take 24 hours, it has been 22.5. Crazy, I am probably switching back to AT&T. I need a working phone!

Stupid tech support

Bunch of useless idiots

Not at all worth it

I am stationed in Japan was lured over to Google Fi because of the cheap plans and being able to use all over the place.

I was never even able to use the services because they couldn’t even port in my number, I got tech after tech that basically told me the exact same thing. They would monitor the situation closely and update me, yet I was the one who would constantly have to ask for timely updates, meanwhile I couldn’t even cancel the services and leave Google Fi because the port out request to join them wasn’t even processed even after 2 weeks!

One of my biggest blunders was to switch to Google fi, they should honestly stick to being an internet browser and leave the phone business to the professionals.
