Shocking late notification
Absolutely appalled by this app and the website. I regularly keep an eye on my account and the first I knew of an adjustment payment for FY24/25 was when I received a letter stating the charge was overview. Up until that point when I logged in it told me I paid the right amount of tax. Not only did I have to pay the adjustment I also had to pay interest on a debt I did not know I had. Words do not sufficiently describe how angry I am with this and with HMRC. Disgusting.

Won’t show latest work payments
For some reason, my HMRC app hasn’t shown me my most recent taxable income for this month and it normally shows me a few days before my payday.
I don’t know if there is a bug within the app or not.

Payment on account
I believe I have to make a payment on account by 31 Jul. I have a value for what I owe. If I check the app it says I owe nothing. So why the difference.

The facility to make a direct payment of anything owed via one’s bank useful except it didn’t initially work for one of my Banks but it did when I used another.

It feels safe making large deposits through the app.
They give me tax figure then say I underpaid.
There is something wrong with self assessment. The last 2 years HMRC have told me what I owe them. I pay it as requested then twice say I underpaid incurring a fine. This not right!!

Not fit for purpose
Tried to claim a refund through the website but won’t let you. Was advised the app is quicker and better, however the app just links you back to the website for a refund which tells you it can’t be done again. I suspect this level of difficulty when attempting a refund is deliberate.
