An absolute must have for collectors!
Response from developer
Thank you so much! This is the review I'll be re-reading on the hard days. "Created by someone who understands physical media collectors" is the whole brief. I'm a collector first; every screen in here started as something that annoyed me about my own shelves. And you're using it the way I hoped someone would. Books and movies side by side with a few games, and more. One app instead of three or more. The themes were the last thing I expected people to latch onto, and they've turned out to be the thing collectors mention most. A shelf should look like yours, not like mine. There's more coming on that front. If you ever hit something that bugs you, hello@keptcase.app comes straight to me. Thanks for taking the time to write all that out. It really means a lot. Thank you for all the support and for choosing Keptcase. GC, Keptcase
What I’ve Been Waiting For
Response from developer
Thank you so much! "Everything, in one app, done well" is exactly the bar I set, so reading it back from a collector is the best I could ask for. The one-app part was the hard call it. Would have been far easier to ship a movie app and stop but I wanted to build something that had it all. I'm so glad it landed. There more on the way! If anything ever falls short, hello@keptcase.app reaches me directly. Thank you again for all your support. GC, Keptcase
Great App, Great Customer Service
Response from developer
Thanks Ryan! Glad the movie shelf is all in and the music and books are on their way. Household was built for exactly what you and your wife are doing, so it's great to hear it works for two. And thanks for emailing, that really is the fastest way to reach me. Enjoy the shelves and thank you again for all your support and patience. GC, Keptcase
Not A Good Start
Response from developer
Thank you for trying Keptcase! and I am sorry the first scan let you down. You found a real gap. In 1.0.3 a music barcode was checked against one database, MusicBrainz, and for Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) it lists only the 2011 pressing’s barcode. Every other pressing of that record, including the one in stores now, came back as nothing. Since 1.0.5, released September 4, a scanned record is also looked up on Discogs, which lists every pressing, and the app names the exact one in your hand. I checked your album today: the 1981, 2011 and 2026 pressings all come back. If you are still in your trial, update and scan it once more. If the trial has run out, email hello@keptcase.app and I will make it right. Also for the future you can reach out for help on the app and I will be able to assist right away. With a new app like this there can be bugs at times but it's something I work on every week to make sure they're fixed. - GC Keptcase
Amazing but still needs some work
The pricing is also off even though the UPCS are all added and correct the pricing isn’t updating properly and that’s essential for me for insurance purposes which was a big draw of this app!
But that being said 1) it’s an app for everything and it’s amazing. 2) I love to have my physical media all in one place and be able to find things easily!
I already LOVE THE APP just some small quality of life updates and I’d be a lifetime user!

First, thank you for giving Keptcase a real chance and your five-star review! Secondly, thank you for naming the three things. In order: CDs that did not scan: I found two real bugs today. The app was asking the music catalogue for one spelling of the barcode, and many US discs are filed under the other. And when the catalogue was busy for a second, the app said the disc was unknown instead of trying again. Both are fixed in the next update, and common CDs should come through. Box sets: scanning a set's barcode already fills in what is in the box, the films and their discs, using lists other collectors have confirmed or the label's own. If a set you own came up empty, send its barcode to hello@keptcase.app and I will add it. Pricing: a value is looked up once when you add an item. After that it only refreshes when you ask, from Settings, Refresh All Values, or Update from eBay on the item. We are adding an automatic refresh for values that have gone stale, so this becomes hands-off. A lifetime user is the goal and your support means the world. It's customers like you that provide this type of feedback that helps grow Keptcase more and more each week. Write any time at hello@keptcase.app and i'll be there to help. - GC
A Fantastic App for Collectors!
If you’re serious about your physical media collection, I highly recommend Keptcase. Excellent app, excellent developer, and excellent support! 🎬🍿

Thank you! and thank you for the file. A collection that size, kept that carefully for that long, is exactly what an importer has to get right, and yours showed me three things ours was reading wrong. Every one of them is fixed in the version you are on now, and the next update reads a few more of those columns still. Listening is the easy part when someone takes the time to explain the problem as clearly as you did. If anything in your shelf ever reads wrong after an update, hello@keptcase.app comes straight to me. Enjoy the collection, and thank you again for your support and patience.
Love the app, but where’s the iPad version?
Response from developer
Thank you so much! Happy to hear how much you're enjoying the app. KB is the best and always love hanging out with him on his channel. Today Keptcase installs on iPad as the iPhone app (search for it on the iPad's App Store), so your shelf works there now, just not yet laid out for the bigger screen. A proper iPad version with the full-width grid, a sidebar, and the shelf as it deserves is on the way. Something i'm still working on. Hoping to have it ready by the end of the month so keep an eye out! Thank you for all your support and wonderful review.

Thanks for giving Keptcase a try, and that's a fair point about the label. The App Store marks any app with in-app purchases as "Free", and for an app that is a subscription, that reads as a promise we don't make. To be straight about what Keptcase is: it's a paid app with a 7-day free trial. Nothing is charged for the first week, everything works during it scanning, adding, values, backup and you can cancel any time before it ends in your Apple Account settings. If you decide it isn't for you, your collection stays on your phone: you can still browse it and export it to CSV, so nothing is held hostage. There's no free tier, and we'd rather say so plainly than hide it. If you were shown the paywall without being offered the trial, that's a bug I want to know about, write to hello@keptcase.app and I can make it right.
All collections in one place finally
Response from developer
Thank you! One app for movies, music, games, comics and books was the whole idea, and it means a lot to hear the migration and the scanner worked the way they should. You are right about the database: it grows with every scan and every cover collectors photograph, and 1.0.3 (out now) adds "Find a Different Match", "Choose a Cover" and a reading order for series on top of that. Keep the feedback coming - hello@keptcase.app reaches us directly. Thanks again and welcome to the Keptcase family!
