Watch app doesn’t work, expensive system
The max pro machine works ok overall, but it’s quite overpriced given what it is. But this review is for the app primarily. The phone app works OK, but it is not the most intuitive for navigation. A lot of things are not where you would expect them to be and it’s somewhat difficult to find what you’re looking for because the screen is cluttered with lots of little cards. Additionally, the Apple Watch app does not work at all. It says that it’s connected on my phone, but it never works. The watch apps there on the screen with the start button grayed out, it doesn’t collect heart rate data, and the app doesn’t do anything. Given how much the machine itself costs, I chaff at the idea of a subscription. There ought to be a lot more free content included in the app. I don’t think that all new content should be free, because then they would not be able to afford to keep producing new content. But they ought to be a bigger basic library of training programs that are available for free. After all, it’s not really “free,” the machine itself is crazy expensive. But, then given the pricey subscription model for additional content, the app ought to function flawlessly, but it doesn’t. I’m not sure where the money is going, but I don’t see the value here. If the apps worked as they’re supposed to, and provided a bit more free content, I’d give it 4-4.5 stars. (I still think it’s an overpriced system for what it is.)

5.3.11 broke the app
After updating to 5.3.11 my app constantly shows 0% for the battery and the resistance does not update in the app at all, it remains at 0.0lbs even while connected to bluetooth. The sound effects in the app are also extremely annoying and there’s no obvious way to disband it. The app also has no obvious way to contact support or get help for any issues.

Needs a lot more refining
Barely used it for 30 seconds and found some glaring usability issues.
Rename nickname to username, since it is a required field.
If I go into social feed, I have to agree to the terms and conditions, but this window prevents me from navigating to other areas of the app that do not require the agreement. Therefore, I have to force close the app if I don’t care about the social feed.

Can’t stream to the TV.
The workouts are nice, can’t seem to find workouts that’s geared to just the MAXPRO without all the accessories and the workouts won’t bring up the icon to stream to the TV.
Clunky
Content is ok but app is buggy and won’t connect to my Apple Watch. Should automatically connect to my Maxpro
Music used to play, doesn’t now
I used to be able to listen to my playlist on Apple Music while exercising. Suddenly, audio integration seems to have been removed. I really enjoy the MAXPRO, but the app has had crashing issues and other bugs. Not being able to listen to music is really close to a deal breaker for me. It’s very disappointing for an otherwise very enjoyable workout experience.

App need serious improvements
Social aspect is not working - can’t accept terms and conditions - it kicks me out. Clunky app.
Crashes constantly
App crashes constantly. Help
Customer Support is awesome
I’ve had the MaxPro device for 3 years now, and absolutely love how complete it is. I can get all my workouts done on just ONE machine! Especially love the Slimline wall mount. You honestly can’t get a more versatile and simple workout machine than this device. I’ve used the app on iPad and on an Android tablet and they both worked great. Only minor issues. Best of all though is the customer support. I had a few screws strip as I was unmounting my Slimline wall wrack for a move and haven’t been able to put it back up in my new place. Decided to contact support (a year later, should have done it sooner!) and after a couple of questions a new screw set was on its way. I love supporting small and innovative businesses, especially with great customer service. Thank you!

Lots of crashes
Just got my device yesterday and the app crashes ALOT can’t go to social and when looking for specific classes and time variations it immediately shuts down. Would love to pay for premium but feel my money would be wasted due to technical issues that based on other reviews have not been addressed in over a year. I would love some help with this issue

Unable to cast/mirror
I've had this device for so long and never had a decent workout due to the frustration of trying to cast or mirror to my TV so I can see the screen while I workout. Unfortunately, it hasn't changed. I really wonder how other are doing it.
Very broken.
First it can’t connect with the unit. Can’t connect with the Apple Watch. Shows workouts that don’t exist for that day. Takes minutes for some screens to react.
Lots of crashes
Pros- informative and helpful to get started with MAXPRO.
Cons- app crashes a lot and loses progress of workouts. Heart rate and calorie tracking is inconsistent and works about half the time.
Support was very responsive to work out bugs, however there are still improvements to be made.

Glitchy
It seems that every time there's an update a new issue pops up. Prior to the last update the app would immediately shut down after startup. This week, it started shutting down in the middle of my workout. So frustrating.
Poor..even worse!
12/3 update. - app crashes
on open. Do they test this at all before releasing updates? Total
Junk.
Terrible app. Workouts don’t save, app spins endlessly when closing a workout, and rep counter doesn’t recognize most workouts. The machine itself is fine, but the app is all-but-worthless.

Still some bugs
The app still has some bugs. It won’t connect to my t.v at all and I followed the instructions. If this app actually connected the screen to my tv it would be great!
Buggy app is useless
I make my own workouts. The first always works fine. But after that it will count a rep and go back to zero for every rep. Then I have to skip which brings me to a break. The countdown timer goes double speed. For example it will show 20 seconds and go right to 18 then when I complete and save the workout it will not exit. I have to exit again and hit discard.

Well thought out app
A lot of thought was pit into this app. There are so many different cool features. It’s like a hub for fitness training. I have ran into a couple bugs, but each update fixes them. Customer service genuinely wants to make the app better
love it!
i love not having to think about my workouts or count my reps!
Unstable, unreliable app
I often can’t complete a program without the screen becoming unresponsive, and reps are no longer recorded. It makes the entire concept of tracking progress and leaderboards completely moot as motivators.
There are also times when I attempt to connect to bluetooth repeatedly without success; I get to the screen where I confirm my device identity, and I assume I’m connected, only to find that I’m not partway through my routine.
Additionally, I have not once been able to successfully stream via Airplay to my TV. I keep getting the No Devices Available error, even though I’ve enabled local network access and checked wifi for both phone and Apple TV. The only way it ever works is via Screen Mirroring.
Oh and I almost forgot: the Exit button on the Freestyle screen is ALWAYS unresponsive. I have to force quit and restart every time just to exit!
Another consistent problem: if I opt not to save a session, selecting Delete always produces an error message.
Lastly, can you please correct the misspellings? “Discarting” should be “Discarding”. There’s another spelling error I can’t recall at the moment. I only mention this because it would be such an easy fix, and their presence just adds to the perception that this app is a total amateur hour production.
I greatly regret that I prepaid the subscription for a full year. I saw older reviews complaining about the app’s problems, and given the developer’s responses I held out hope that the bugs had been addressed by now. No dice. Downloaders beware!
I’m happy with the equipment itself, though. I would give 5 stars for the hardware and its design, 1 star for the app. Given that this is the App Store, I should make this a 1 star review, but I’m awarding an extra star for the clever hardware, and I’m feeling charitable.
Stats: iPhone 15 Plus on iOS 17.6.1. (in other words, new enough where my device should not be an issue as of 2024!)
