Stay Away

After I canceled a fueling session and selected a different fueling pump, the app glitched and incorrectly continued to use the previous pump number.

When I tried to clear this up with Miles customer service, I was blamed for the incident and threatened with vague contractual penalties should something like this happen again.

This is an absurd way to treat a customer. Not one of their tips for avoiding this kind of incident actually applied to my situation. Therefore, it was entirely Mile's fault. I sacrificed my time to refuel the car when I technically didn't need to (it was at 30% or so) and I made sure that Miles lost no money in the mixup. Customer service implied I was a liar and said their systems did not detect any glitch. I find it hard to believe that they have a system so advanced that it can detect that absolutely no glitches occurred in a particular time window, even with a user-interface. I'm pretty sure such technology does not exist.

This leaves me with unacceptable legal uncertainty in using the app. What if a more serious glitch occurred but was asserted by Miles not to have occurred? This was only my second time using Miles and I cannot risk my neck continuing to use it.

Also, the customer service is extremely bad at reading emails. I had to re-explain what happened several times before they even demonstrated that they correctly understood what I had written. Unfortunately, I never got them to retract their threats, so Miles stands unapologetic in this matter.

Changes that hurt

Overall a decent app; the service itself is of course for a City like Berlin fantastic. But the update that swapped the slider for parking /stop
over with a slider for ending rental is for longtime users who book hourly rates a killer. A few times now out of habit I thought I was parking with many hrs and kms left on the package but endet the rental. This is bad. Also - if one paid for 3hrs the rental should not be able to end before. At least there should be a way to reverse the ending of the rental when accidentally ended. In my last case a new driver had booked minutes after I made the mistake a d before I realized it.Hence the latest app version just 2 stars

€100 charged for smoking I did not do

I was charged €100 for a “smoking fee” after a rental of just a few minutes, even though I did not smoke in the vehicle.

The charge was based only on an automated sensor, with no photos or direct evidence. When I formally disputed the fee via certified legal notice, MILES replied with generic emails and stated that “no further correspondence is planned”.

Lack of transparency and refusal to properly address a formal dispute. Very disappointing experience.

Sketchy

Be careful, seems nice at the beginning and then they suddenly rob with some hidden fee they never told you about. Watch out and don’t get scammed

Well made app and amazing service

An amazing service, convenient and great customer service. The app is also well made , and they keep improving it . The new update helps people end rentals without pausing it by mistake. This is a sign of a team that gives attention to details . I wish miles was also in Italy and other places . It’s too good to be in only one country .

FAQ

What is MILES Car & Van Sharing?

MILES is a mobility service that offers car sharing, van sharing, and flexible car rental options. You can rent vehicles by the kilometer or for daily and long-term periods, with insurance and fuel or charging typically included.

How does the per-kilometer pricing work?

With the per-kilometer pricing model, you pay only for the distance you drive, not for the time the vehicle is reserved. This allows for a more relaxed driving experience without the pressure of ticking minutes.

What are the rental durations and costs?

Rental periods can range from 3 hours up to 30 days. Prices start from €0.79 per kilometer for cars and €0.98 per kilometer for vans. There's also an unlock fee per rental, and discounted rates are available for daily and long-term rentals.

Is the app available in my city?

MILES operates in several cities across Germany, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt am Main, and Cologne, among others. Service and availability may vary by specific location.

What is included in the rental price?

The rental typically includes insurance, fuel or charging, and sometimes parking minutes and unlock fees. There is no registration fee, and new users often receive a sign-up bonus.
