Not very user friendly

I need to change bank information for my payments. Can’t do it on there. Need to make changes to my policy where I don’t need to be calling the agent cause I know what I need to do like change my vehicle from this week to that vehicle can’t do it catch up with the times people even a low rank insurance company has that availability

Great insurance rates lame app

The insurance rates are great. The app is lame…! You can’t pay early and hit pay early. You can’t set up alerts, which everything with newer technology has (reminder your payment is due on..). And it’s annoying that they don’t catch up with the new technology. This is the only billing company I have that doesn’t… send me an alert close to my bill.

Horrible!!!

I had Shelter insurance for 2 years and NEVER missed a payment and then one day Shelter the office people had their computer system upgraded and it had a “payment bug” (they even told me this is what was happening, recorded phone call saved) where if you had auto pay turned on it would charge your card but fail to accept the money and it would make your account go “delinquent” and they would call and then get their payment (same day of failed auto pay) this went on for 3 months and they didn’t get it fixed but on the 3rd month of pay fail in their system they claimed my account was delinquent and they even canceled my insurance contract with them and it was effective immediately so I switched to State Farm and have not had a single issue since and all payments are on time with auto pay enabled. Screw you Shelter insurance for errors on your end and you blaming me for it

Poor app

Claim feature is garbage, app crashes and loses info constantly. Of course it has no problems with submitting payment. They will take your money but design an app that won’t let you proceed with a claim.

Frustrating Lack of Basic Features

This insurance app is missing essential features that make managing policies extremely difficult. There is no option to add or remove vehicles or drivers, which is a basic necessity for any insurance platform. Instead of handling these simple updates through the app, I have to go through customer service, which is time-consuming and inconvenient.

A modern insurance app should provide flexibility and ease of use, but this one falls short. Until these features are added, I can’t recommend this app for anyone who needs to make regular adjustments to their policy.

Always a glitch

The first time I paid my bill on the app was a breeze and I thought it was wonderful, but nearly every time I try to use it now, there’s some sort of glitch. This time, I cannot put our new credit card info in. It keeps freezing up. I even deleted and re downloaded the app, and I still can’t get it to work.

Super helpful app!

This app is well designed, intuitive to use, and does what it is supposed to. It is great to have access to my policies on my phone and not have to worry about having updated paper versions with me!

Requires SSN

I understand the need for an SSN regarding credit based insurance rates, but why keep the SSN after the credit check? I’m not looking forward to the potential identity theft if the SSNs are hacked from a Shelter database. There are other ways to verify an account without requiring an SSN.

SSN is currently used to better associate Shelter policies to your account. We agree protection of personal information is a top priority & take preventive measures, such as redacting visibility. Further, we are actively exploring alternate methods of associating policies to ensure our customers’ needs are met & privacy is protected. App fails to log me in, states “Incorrect email and/or password,” but yet I can log in on Safari or Google using the same credentials. Okay, UPDATE! App now works flawlessly.

Way out of date

The app looks like it’s from the mid 2000’s. Hasn’t been updated for x-style screen, Touch/Face ID, or wallet. Very discouraging to see the app gets regular (tho infrequent) updates, and they can’t be bothered to include quality of life improvements. I appreciate the security/bug fix updates, but don’t understand how they can regularly update the app yet not be bothered to bring to bring the feature set into this decade

Not user friendly...at all

I downloaded the app & created an account. That is about the extent of the usefulness of this app. 🙄
I’ll just do it the old school way, and keep my insurance cards in my truck. 😎

Crashes and freezes

It’s so buggy and slow, so many freezes and crashes I have the iPhone 11 with plenty of room on it, have removed the app and reinstalled it, still always freezing and crashing
