Trying to charge me to access my own tax returns
Faulty H&R Block Product
I’m a disappointed regular customer.
I filled my 2025 taxes with H&R Block and paid to utilize their product. I received a notice from the IRS indicating that I was receiving a penalty for ‘failing to pay 2025 estimated amount’. Long story short I found that even though I had manually inserted the correct numbers from our W2’s, H&R Block’s product generated and utilized an incorrect “Federal Income Tax Withheld” value. Meaning, that the values were correct in the confirmation window, but overrode once it processed into the last step and what was reflected on the Tax Return Summary. I spoke to several operators, walked them through the situation and provided them proof. I was either told to take it up with the IRS, I needed to pay an additional fee to speak to an H&R Block specialist to review my tax filing, or that they only dealt with mistakes as a result of their product. Needless to say, this was a product miscalculation output. I’m not sure why we are asked to pay to utilize H&R Block services (regardless what service you utilize) to file our taxes and they don’t take responsibility when their product is faulty — wether intentional or intentional.
I was asked to submit a claim explaining all of this in detail, keep in mind that the deadline to pay this to the IRS was way before my claim would be addressed. H&R Block declined paying back for their products miscalculation output.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that is experiencing this. Please keep an eye out for this type of theft. I’m not using H&R Block’s services ever again - they lost my trust.

Awful experience. First of all, I was only able to do my federal thru the app. Second, I had to do the state portion thru web browser, then it tried to force me to choose a ‘tax pro’ that I needed to see in person. The single worth tax experience of ALL TIME.

I’m honestly debating doing my taxes somewhere else because this app is such a pain. It makes me put my password in and then I have to also send a text message or an email with a code and even if I choose and not put my password in and do the email or the text message. It still makes me put my password after. You can’t transfer funds out and I tried to add a linked account four times and it would finally add it and then the next day it would be gone and I would have to add it again. The app just doesn’t make any sense at all and the settings are so bar and horrible. It’s not helpful and then when you try to call customer service it says the hours of operation or 7 AM to 10 PM and even when I’m in between that timeframe, it still hangs up on me.
