OK but Not Perfect

The App is not very effective in cold weather! The winter of 2025 - 2026 was quite harsh. I tried to rely on the App for starting my vehicle on frozen Minnesota mornings. However, the app would not connect to start my vehicle. Sadly, it only got worse as winter progressed on. It works great during the summer, but we’ll see what yet is to come this winter.

App is OK

The App is merely OK. It is not intuitive and you have to dig to fine even basic operations. It’s somewhat glitchy and buggy, and updates don’t address all glitches and bugs. When questioning the dealer you often just ge a shoulder shrug

Remote start stopped working

Remote start from the app stopped working. Ios updated, app up to date, tried from scratch, removed cehicle from the app, removed app, reinstalled app, added vehicle. No avail. Developers take a look into this please. Car starts remotely from fob and I can stop it from app. But start from app is unavailable. ‘26 Tiguan SEL R-line Turbo

Subscription Problems

Trying to get internet radio, speech recognition and wifi for over a month and has not been resolved.

Works half the time

The app works half the time it’s not consistent and the features are lackluster

Often loses connection

More often than not, I lose the connection between the app and my vehicle. I find myself often bring unable to use the app to lock/open my doors or start my vehicle. Frustrating.

Love the new update

I’m loving the new VW app update. There has been too many times where I walk away from my id.4 thinking that its was charging only to come back to find a charging error. Now it sends a ping every 1% it charges. It also has a climate countdown timer too.

Remote start does not work

I own a Taos 2022 VW. Over the past several months the reliability of the remote start has been significantly better.. After playing 18 holes of golf in 95° heat it’s very nice to use the remote start at the last hole and a nice cool car waiting for me. They definitely have made improvements over the past year. Thank you.

Leandro

Kind slow app I would like to lock and unlock from my phone

Features

Love the car. However the mobile app and care computer needs more features similar to other competing electronic car brands.

Remote start

Unfortunately i’m able to remote start my car in 115° heat in Las Vegas that needs to be a feature in the Volkswagen app

Unable to track vehicle

Unable to track vehicle

Doesn’t work

9 out of 10 times it’s not working just gives you an error that “something is wrong” and to try again later. I’ve updated the software in the car and at the dealer. I’ve also called support who couldn’t help and hence my visit to the dealer (twice). What’s the point of technology if I can’t use it! It only worked in the very beginning when I first got the car then gave me problems intermittently and now it’s constantly.

Takes too much time to access some functions

It takes a lot of time to close the doors from the app.

Not a fan of Ads

Ads are the issue. It ruins my VW experience imagine having a manual that constantly gives you ads.

Beyond that I really enjoy the features and the all the data at hand is great and convenient

Stupid app

Every time you need to get into the app you have to log in. Then after you log in you need your passcode. Just open the damn app and use it.

It’s getting there…

The app is ok and incrementally getting better. There are some things I would like to see:

- I like the new charging widget for Dynamic Island/Live Update. Strangely, Live Update tells the vehicle charge rate on the lock screen but the app itself does not (the app only gives SOC, target charge, and time remaining.) Can the charge rate be added to the app like it is on the Live Update?

-Since Amazon Alexa functionality is now gone, can we please get Siri Shortcuts back?

-The target charge setting on the app doesn’t always match the target setting on the car (2022 ID.4). If the car is set to target 70%, the app still says 80% although the car correctly stops at 70%.

Wish List

-A web portal would be ideal. The MyVW website lets you log in, but you can’t access any remote features on the vehicle. It would be nice to have access to the app’s features through the web portal like Hyundai’s Bluelink does so remote settings can be sent from a desktop/laptop also.

-Calendar integration with iOS. When putting events on the phone’s calendar, it would be nice if there were an option/extension to let the car know to be charged in time for that event.

-The ability to modify/manage the saved favorites in the Navigation through the app in addition to the touch screen in the car.

-Not as important but a complication for the Apple Watch that gives current battery level at a glance would be great.

Overall, a decent app that still needs some polish.
