🚨 Passport Scanner NEVER Works!! 😡
The passport scanner has never worked for me. I’ve tried every lighting condition, angle and trick imaginable. It just wastes my time.
What’s even worse is the manual entry option is effectively hidden below the scanner. There is nothing to indicate you need to scroll, so you end up repeatedly trying a broken scanner instead of simply entering your passport details manually.
This is poor design and an incredibly frustrating user experience.
If this is the standard of the digital arrival card, I’d genuinely rather fill out the old paper form. It was faster, more reliable, and never wasted my time.

Informative and convenient
Much better than trying to find a pen and complete a form while cramped in an aircraft seat. This, combined with the time to do it before the jet lag has properly set in, makes it much more convenient and less liable to mistakes.
App feedback
Works well and easy to use . Please add to the sports section an explanation of what gear is deemed sports gear.

This is an easy to use app for entry into Aotearoa New Zealand.

Scanning works occasionally, app is randomly offline. Requires app restart. Usability good otherwise

Well done
I’m at the gate awaiting my flight. This declaration took minutes to prepare and this is so much better than doing it on a plane or in a destination airport. All countries should do this. Well done NZ.
Easy to use once but hard to start
Tried multiple times to start a new declaration yesterday. Told me there was an unstable internet connection each time. Gave up. Today there are 5 new declarations waiting to be completed. Quite annoying.
Great start, could do more
Wish we could take pictures of the declared items and upload so a judgement could be remotely made before we get to NZ
