Another update, another disappointment

Have been using this app for years. Latest update is a terrible, much preferred seeing my score before needing to record my additional routines.
And what is a score of 1…? Plenty of real estate on the screen for a larger circle or use a smaller font to show a 3 digit score!

It no longer works!

I have had the toothbrush for almost a year and have used it every day with the app and then a few days ago I updated it to the most current version and it just hangs there and will not allow me to brush or do anything. I'm very frustrated.

Helpful

This is by far my favorite toothbrush. The pressure sensor light is super helpful and my teeth feel almost as clean as when I leave the dentist. The only recommendation I have is the ability to customize the tooth map. That way if you had a missing tooth or had dental work where you couldn’t clean a certain tooth with enough pressure it wouldn’t decrease your score.

The app’s tone is condescending

When you start using the app, take a look at the comments it gives you every time after you brush. There is always criticism. You were brushing too hard (when I looked at the details for the latest instance, it said four seconds out of 2 minutes and 30 seconds were over pressure). You were brushing too soft. You did not cover everywhere. Try harder next time. And the like. Even when you cover 100% of your teeth, it will still criticize your brushing methods with a critical comment like some of these that I just listed. The developers of this app need to change the tone of the feedback it gives to the users.

Brush positions not always accurate

The app is ok, but it needs work regarding tracking while you brush. It’s not always accurate at knowing what part of the mouth you are brushing. Sometimes you are overdoing one area, and when you move, it doesn’t register, or it thinks you’ve moved to another area when you haven’t. Just now it was fine for nearly every section, then it just didn’t register I was brushing the top right at all. I was going over that area for ages and eventually had to stop. The problem is, if you do, it thinks you didn’t complete your brushing and tells you to concentrate on that area you missed (when in fact that area was actually over-brushed!). This defeats the purpose, as over-brushing is just as bad as not brushing enough. I’m using the latest iOS on my iPhone and the newest io10, which was very expensive, and so I really expected things to work accurately. Also, it would be good if the session didn’t just end when you turn the brush off. Sometimes you might want to do that in between brushing. Really, the session should end when you’ve covered 100%, regardless of whether you turn the brush off and on.

No more smiley face?

I don’t mind you have all the teaching stuff, but you make it difficult to just get to the start page to brush. I don’t need all that but I do like the smiley face when I’m done!😊

What happened to flossing?

I’ve been using the app for quite a while and was OK with it, but a recent update turns off my ability to track whether or not I am flossing. This is stupid!

WTF

Has this app Always collected you Location information?
What is up with the new layout of pages after you brush? Haven’t been able to use app for a while. But man they’re annoying. I miss the old style that was so showy.
Thinks of deleting app because of that and it’s track ability of brushing is bad.

Lost functionality

The update does not allow tracking of morning flossing. Only allows tracking of flossing in evening. App should allow tracking of all aspects during all brushings and should give you options to choose what to track. My gums never bleed so I am not interested in tracking that, etc.

Recordings Not Working

Ever since the last app update, the daily recordings are not working properly. I will complete my brush cycle and it will give me score and then the app shows 0 and the score. If I delete the line that shows 0, it also deletes the line with the score. Also noticed that I will start my brushing and the app turns off in the first few seconds of brushing.

If it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it!!

So I’ve had an io8 toothbrush and used this app since 2022.

My oral hygiene has never been better which is certainly what you want and would expect and would be worthy of a 5 star rating! So why am I only giving 3 stars, where the issue here is with the app development, they keep tweaking it and changing its appearance and every so often they end up with a bug which means your toothbrush goes from say 50% charge to 0% the minute you turn it on. Originally I thought it was a battery issue and under warranty the battery was replaced but the issue reoccurred and so another battery was replaced. So my brush has worked without issue for around a year until this latest update and I’m now back to the same old battery discharge issue until they update it with another fix!!

Low scores for people with missing teeth

The app is great, very helpful to improve my technique, but needs the option to skip a section of teeth, which are missing, without reducing my score

Temperamental to say the least.

The first few times I used it, I was persuaded that I was doing an okay job of cleaning my teeth. Increasingly however I have noticed 1. that the battery life reduces significantly with connection to the app, this is potentially a function of cleaning for over 2 1/2 minutes at a time, because 2. the sensor does not seem to be able to register where the toothbrush is in my mouth as others have said. For a company as profitable as P&G this is a poor show.

Something ‘s changed

Since the latest update, the app has no idea where my brush is in my mouth. I start on the lower left, going from the middle of my incisors in front to the left to the back, around the back teeth towards the front inside my teeth and over to to the right side inside, around the back to the outside of my lower right side. The diagram in the app thinks I am on my upper teeth until I go around the inside and then it thinks I am on my lower teeth, but never knows that I am on the right side by the end of the first minute. It just sucks. I use the timer to make I cover all the quadrants.

Terrible Update

The latest update is a really poor design and it’s removed functionality. People do floss in the morning, but there is no longer the option to record this. Also, I don’t need a recording prompt for tongue cleaning.
There’s a saying - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it - and this update is a case in point!

Recent update is huge step backward

Issue in the new update

After brushing, on the self assessment page, you can’t scroll down and press the “next” button. Can you please rectify this issue in the next update.

The new update on the fence

I would like the new update if the floss appeared with the other brushing options. I also agree with the other person that initially I received a score of 100 but have not since the first time. I always have 100% coverage (minus the one over pressure time) but can not achieve a score of 100.

Position detector doesn’t work

I am tired of trying to get accurate detection of the brushing guide. It is frustrating to trying to get 100% coverage when the app doesn’t detect the side of my mouth I’m brushing. I wind up brushing my teeth for 4 minutes and that shouldn’t be necessary.
