Short, daily mindful movement practice

This app is such a great way to build a daily mindful movement practices. These shorter lessons are so much easier to fit in regularly. Feldenkrais lessons have significantly changed my life for the better, and bravo to the teachers and developers who are making this work more accessible.

A calming reset

Before I started using Pauseture, I had a hard time bending over while sitting down to tie my left shoe. After doing the sessions, I noticed a major improvement, which was one of the first signs that the exercises were making a real difference for me.

I also didn’t expect Pauseture to feel a little like meditation. I thought I would prefer videos, but the audio-guided approach is actually less stressful. It helps me focus on how my body feels and relax, instead of worrying about doing every movement perfectly.

I especially like using it in the middle of a busy day. It gives me a chance to slow down, clear my mind, relax my body, and reset.

With a 7-day free trial, I’d definitely encourage people to give it a try and see if it’s a good fit for them!

Response from developer

Thank you for taking time to leave your review. While we have a "Tying Shoes" function available in our search filters, I don't think many people filter for that. But, here is the truth about our lessons. Every lesson helps every thing, so while you may use Pauseture for a daily pause to move through your day more calmly, you notice shoe tying easier, your focus improves, aches and pains begin to fade away. This is a whole body mind approach with benefits. Doing the lessons to stay present and curious with them, with no goal, often leads to the greatest benefits. Beverly, Founder

Mindful Exercises

After a month of following the exercises I have become much more aware of how I hold and move my body. The places where I hold tension are so clear now and it’s made me more mindful of myself.
Since these are audio-based exercises (which seems better, so one doesn’t have to strain to see the screen), sometimes it was difficult to follow what the instructor was saying; for example, while lying down the instruction would be “bring your arms forward” and it was hard to visualize since the arms were already forward, when what was meant was “arms up towards the ceiling”.
Overall, this has helped me be more mindful and aware of how my body processes stress and tension, and it has taught me to relax and observe.

Response from developer

Thank you for a month of practice and for this thoughtful reflection. "Taught me to relax and observe" — that's the whole method right there. On the confusion with instructions. When the brain has to figure out a movement from the inside rather than copying what it sees, or knowing exactly what to do immediately, it fires up in a completely different way. It's in that confusion — that internal searching — where the deepest neurological changes happen. Clarity and perfection keep us on autopilot, without curiosity. Uncertainty opens us to learning. We've intentionally made our intro lessons easier to follow than classic Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons — which can be far more confusing. Think of Pauseture as the on-ramp. As you continue and explore deeper into the library, you'll find the lessons become more nuanced and the instructions more layered. Getting comfortable with that confusion is part of the journey — and the pleasure of finding what feels right for you in the process is where real change lives. — Beverly, Founder

Game Changer

I have been happily taking Feldenkrais classes for once a week for two years which has been helpful for back and hip issues as an older dance student.

I’ve been regularly using this app for about two months. It has really helped me to expand my practice in realistic time frames. I can address tight hips in a ten minute time frame over my lunch break and feel re-energized for the rest of my day. Or if I have an event at the end of the day I can recharge and feel physically and mentally soothed and ready to go out and dance and socialize.

It’s really helped me to realize that rushing around stressed out and in pain does not have to be a default mode. Finally, the filter is excellent for individualizing anyone’s issues and goals through a wide variety of teachers and teaching styles.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Complimenting live lessons with Pauseture is a powerful combination. As I like to say, one live lesson can feel life changing, and consistent practice can change your life. The app was built for exactly this — expanding what you learn in the room into the moments between classes, whenever you need it. So glad you're dancing and socializing with more ease. — Beverly, Founder

Even better now

I’m updating my review. I really liked this app and used consistently. I felt better and stopped using it. I recently started using again and while difference is subtle. I feel more grounded and confident when I take my daily pause. Once I took the break, it is clear how much better I feel with a consistent pause. Highly recommend. It’s such a bargain for health.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to share this. We hear versions of this story. People either feel a dramatic change, feel better and quit. Or, feel subtle changes and think it can't possibly be our lessons. But, once you quit, you miss what was supportive in your daily life. Pauseture was designed to be something you can return to regularly—without pressure, performance, or urgency. Thank you for taking the time to update your review to reflect where you are now in your journey. — Beverly, Founder
