I had a question about a claim regarding a Penske truck that I was driving and it took me three mont
To date I still haven’t been successful getting any help from Penske regarding this claim and there’s no number that I can reach. I have tried at least 10 numbers to reach Penske Customer Service. I even tried to chat that is bogus too.
Honesty supersedes U-Haul by a mile!
We rented a truck from U-Haul in West Allis, WI and left sunglasses after we locked and dropped off the keys after hours. Went came back and tried to pick them u the next day; the manager and two workers denied ever seeing them. You can tell the look that all of them were lying.
Rented trucks twice from Penske and experiences have been great!! In a few weeks, we will renting it again. No issues with them whatsoever. I also call 2-3 days in advance to make sure the truck is available.

They Don’t Have the Truck You Reserve
Reserved a truck for same day pickup, they don’t have it. Why allow you to make same day reservations when you don’t have the truck? No idea. Do yourself a favor, get one from Home Depot or U-Haul, at least they know what kind of inventory they have.
Corporate reservation
We needed a high top to move a couch and 3 dogs 1 way from Tennessee to Texas. A box van wouldn’t suffice due to the dogs. I booked the van 2 months earlier through corporate, not the local guys in Knoxville. I called about a week before the pick up date and was assured that everything was good and the van would be there a day beforehand. Our party flew up from Texas to make the move. While she was on her way, Penske called and said the van wasn’t available but they could upgrade to a 16 foot van. (I couldn’t use that because of the dogs). As a last resort, we had to book a local u haul rental from u haul. She made the move. we had to fly to Texas and bring the van back. Due to this whole nightmare, we were out 500$ for a flight, fuel to return the van to TN and lost time from work. Local Penske’s response: Sorry, corporate doesn’t communicate well with local agencies. Moral of the story, if you book from corporate, verify locally. I won’t because I’ll NEVER call Penske again!

Lots of broken features
3.6 Stars seems pretty high to me.
The app is good at retrieving the basics of my reservation, but doesn't allow me to complete certain processes on my own time (upload drivers license and proof of insurance) even though it is a built-in part of the app. When I choose to manage my reservation, it auto-fills my last reservation from months ago even though it easily finds my current reservation linked to my account name and email. Seems like that could be a little better implemented. Finally, there are instructions at the bottom of my reservation page stating I should call if I need to change my reservation, but it doesn't list a phone number.
Overall, the app is more functional than the Penske phone system and easier than using a web browser.

Horrible
Don’t use them! Rented a van, shocker they don’t have it and the district manager hung up on me. I rented with budget and others and when they didn’t have it they called me or texted me 10 minutes later. Nothing from Penske, fix your system it’s not hard your just lazy. Never ever touching this company again: paying for an Uber home now since they don’t have my rental

App failed
The app timed out on me and wouldn’t let me back in. It told me to call their toll free number. I called, went through the menu, described the problem, and my call center “mysteriously” went dead.
Map
App map does not have the rental location even close. Several miles difference between app map and actual rental location.
Map problems
Drop off location maps are not accurate. The actual Waxahachie, TX drop off location is more than 20 minutes away from where the app tells you to go. Wastes a ton of time and fuel and frustration, especially when you are new to an area.

Clicked the link in my email to “manage my reservation” and it forced me to download the app.
Tried to add my driver’s license to expedite my check-in and that feature wasn’t available.
Clicked “confirm” my reservation for tomorrow and got an error message, telling me to call Penske.
Way to go developers! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Create an app that is guaranteed to drive calls into the call center because customers can accomplish literally nothing within the app.

This app is easy to use. I like it because can do all the things I need to do on it. Easy process.

No login - for the price of their rental I’d expect a phenomenal app
The only company in years I’ve seen not to have a persistent login to manage across devices. Copy and pasting a res number then 2FA? They need a new UX designed ASAP

Cant’t reserve
The app does not allow reserving a truck. I have a great internet connection, yet when I pick a location and a date, the next screen only says that there is a problem connecting.

Super Quick and EZ
Wow. I’m impressed with this app. It’s super quick and easy to reserve a truck and get a quote. I tested it out and I will definitely be using it the next time I rent a truck when moving.
