What's New in PlugShare

7.36.1

July 14, 2026

We've been busy fine-tuning things behind the scenes! This maintenance release brings a few small-but-mighty improvements: - Smoother photo uploads: We added some extra behind-the-scenes diagnostics to help us pinpoint and squash any hiccups when you share location photos. The more you upload, the sharper the community picture gets! - Steadier power filters: We made some under-the-hood improvements to the charging power filter so your saved slider settings always stay right where you left them, even as we roll out updates over time. - Tidier station editing: We fixed a small glitch in the Edit Station summary that could pop up when adding a station on certain charging networks. Editing location details is a little more seamless now. Thanks for helping keep the world's EV map accurate and up to date. Happy charging!

Unreliable / not worth downloading

Not sure why all these ev vehicles have this app incuded in their library as a tool to help you locate EV chargers in your area. It’s useless, missing about 75% of EV stations that are actually on the map, doesn’t include important details for example if a charging station is accessible or not. Most of the stations it has on the map are located in private apartment complexes and resident only parking garages. It’s very obvious that the creator of PlugShare has some type of partnership with Chargepoint because of all the Chargepoint stations it has on their map. This app relies on user inputted data and not real facts, doesn’t verify if a location someone shared is actual and if the location checks out. So if you’re in a bind and are looking for charging stations in your area because you’re running low or you’re trying to save a buck and want to find affordable or free EV charging stations near you , save yourself the heartache and stress driving in circles and download yourself an app that actually functions the way PlugShare claims it does. This goes for all EV charging customers that don’t use NACS .. because Tesla started this EV charging frenzy, therefore the seamless variety of accurate Tesla charging station locators isn’t much of an issue not like non Tesla EV drivers have to deal with.

No dark mode in 2026

Also the app barely works, data quality is garbage

Nonexistent

Too far or a few in between ridiculous

Fast and lonely

Stall 5A NACS showed no connection when I tried to initiate charging nultiple times. Since no one else was there I moved to 4A and everything worked great.

Great, but …

Please consider that NACS no longer means “Tesla”. More and more non-Tesla have adopted the standard. For example, when I find an EvGo station with NACS, it says “NACS (Tesla)”. That implies to a new EV owner that the site is for Tesla cars, solely. I suggest a toggle in the search filters for NACS, and checkbox for “I own a Tesla”. That way actual Tesla owners can see all NACS sites, including *Tesla exclusive* Superchargers or “destination” sites. Then drivers with non-Tesla NACS can see both 3rd party NACS as well as Tesla sites that they are allowed to use. It’s also helpful to see NACS without any Tesla branded sites simply because Tesla sites are often congested or have short cables. I realize this can be mostly achieved using the existing filters but sometimes it’s complicated and/or buggy. Sorry to sound critical —I’m a big fan of PlugShare and pay for the premium version. Thanks for reading

Response from developer

Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review and for supporting PlugShare. We really appreciate the detailed feedback. You’re absolutely right that NACS adoption has expanded well beyond Tesla, and the way it’s labeled today can be confusing for newer EV drivers. Your suggestion of separating the connector standard from Tesla ownership/access permissions is a very helpful way to think about the filtering experience, and we’ve shared your ideas with our product team for consideration. Thanks again for taking the time to share it with us!
