Why?
Administrative nightmare again..
Now the new app says my charger is offline, (it’s not), the WiFi signal may be at fault ( it’s very strong) and we have no way of quickly sense checking if the car is charging or not. Last night we lost faith and went back to the granny charger to ensure the car was charged ready for work.
This has been a terrible migration experience and incredibly frustrating.
Response from developer
Hello, We’re sorry you’ve had a frustrating experience — this isn’t how the move to the Home app should feel. You shouldn't have to reconnect your charger to Wi-Fi as part of the migration so sounds like there is something else causing issues. Please reach out to our support team at pod-drive-support@podenergy.com so we can support you.
Latest update broke everything
The latest update to the app and/or the Pod Solo 3S has completely broken the charging schedule feature. Now my vehicle starts charging immediately every time I plug it in regardless of time of day and no amount of restarting the device or locking/unlocking it via the app will fix it.
Not the first issue I’ve had with this charger/app - completely regretting my purchase, not at all worth the circa £1000 paid

Pointless and Stupid
And please, please do not cut and paste the stock response it’s gaslighting at it’s most insulting.

Thanks for writing this - and for being specific. This kind of feedback goes directly into how we improve the app. Some of what you're describing may have an explanation, but we'd rather show you than tell you here. If you're open to it, drop us a line at pod-drive-support@podenergy.com with your account details and we'll look at what's actually happening.
Totally Disfunctional
Work around by Pod Point was to turn off smart charge and set a schedule for every day of the week.
Have now bought a 2nd EV and the only way to add this new car to the app is to turn on Smart Charging.
How can these people make an app so poor that it hijacks your previously perfect charging experience using the old app and do this. If your considering buying a charger and looking at apps, I cannot recommend you buy Pod Point
Response from developer

Big brother!
Pointpoint, you need to explicitly handle PHEVs and recognise not everyone wants you to tell them when they can charge their car!
Response from developer

Useless app
There is a constant issue with unlocking the charger. Every single attempt ends with the same message: “Remote unlock failed due to a problem on our side. Please try again later.”
I already know the developer will reply saying that they’re working on it and that the issue will be fixed in a future update. The real question is: how exactly am I supposed to use my car until then?!
An app like this is supposed to make charging easier, not leave users stranded because basic functionality doesn’t work.

Car stopped charging
At first I thought it could be a quirk with the “smart” eco charging or whatever it is, so I found the setting to turn it dumb again. Alas, no, it behaved the same, started the scheduled charge at 00:30 and then just stopped and failed to complete the charge. POS.

Downgrade from Pod Point app with ongoing charging issues
Despite contacting support since January, the issue went unresolved for months until one advisor finally identified the conflict & explained how to disable PodHome’s charging control.
The result was higher charging costs, missed charging targets, & months of frustration. A disappointing upgrade made worse by poor support & a lack of clear guidance. A forced upgrade that has delivered a worse experience, higher costs, & months of unnecessary frustration.
I will update this review if the issue returns or is not fully resolved.
Woeful update
Boost implies more current than usual, as if the car will charge more quickly.
Please make it clear that signing up to the app removes the ability to set different charging times. Once you’re locked in, you are stuck with your energy providers off peak tarif, or you have to use Boost.
The problem is; if your WiFi drops during the night, as is common with the Solo 3 home charger, your schedule does not kick in and the power reverts to the new default of not charging. And you wake up to a flat battery often. The interface is not intuitive and needs further fixes which I’m happy to help with having worked in UI / UX for many years.

Great improvement

Thank you for your review! We’re delighted to hear the app is working well for you and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
Smart charge not so smart
However, since one of the recent updates, I’ve had problems using Smart Charge with my Dacia Spring. Everything is set up correctly for smart charging, but the car doesn’t actually start charging in Smart mode. The only way I can get it to charge is by going into the settings and switching back to Basic Charge.
This setup used to work properly before the update, so something seems to have changed. Hopefully this can be looked into and fixed in a future update because having to manually switch charging modes defeats the point of smart charging.
Good now I know how to disable smart schedule.
Great app but it can’t cope with lower charge amounts
So the fix I do is to up the percentage charge needed eg from 60% charge to 90% rather than say 80%.
Can you check your algorithms please?

Chocolate teapot
The mobile app never seems to know which vehicle is connected so gives incorrect information. Both vehicles (via their systems) are set up with overnight charge windows so are charged correctly. However, the Pod app has no idea what’s happening, to which vehicle or when. Even when the vehicle has been charged (checking via the vehicle app) the Pod app no still has no idea.
So the charger appears to be working driven by the vehicles but the app is useless when the charger is plugged in.
The app is only good for checking activity and rewards after the charger has been unplugged.

Disappointingly unreliable
Response from developer
Hello, We’re sorry you’ve had a frustrating experience — this isn’t how charging should feel. We have just released a new Basic Charging feature in v2.0.0 which provides you with the ability to schedule your charging which may meet your charging needs better than smart charging.
