PTV is amateur

You have somehow made a transport system that has taken us back 30 years. None of the information on your website or information poles is remotely accurate. Your ’live timing’ isn’t even accurate. At least once a week I miss a bus because your information is wrong.

Best PTV App

All you need for public transport info.

Worst app ever

Worst transport app I have ever used an I lived in multiple countries

Timetables need updating

I tried reporting an issue through your website but so far no update.
The PTV App has the incorrect timetable for Frankston line inbound city trains.
It’s been wrong for months.

Amazing

Shows timetable for all trains, trams and busses. Tells you when your late bus is going to arrive, and even shows bus and metro train locations so you don’t miss it and to know if you’re not too late. Really convenient!

Would love a tweak

I love the app, great for managing mykis and planning journeys. My only request is that the journey planner results are displayed with less white space between lines so that I can screenshot an entire journey for quick reference as i travel. I’d like to see the start time and location, changes, and finish time and location in a single screen without scrolling.

Bus inaccurate timing

Today, I was supposed to get on a bus, now at first it said 12 minutes, and just barely a minute after it says 9 minutes and a few seconds then said 6 minutes. I had to rush out, the same thing happened yesterday as well, the app showed the bus was 3 minutes away, but then next second what do I see? The bus driving passed. The app timing didn’t change it’s almost mislead info. I’ve been using this app for a while and it has been so useful, I just wish it could provide a more accurate timing.

Can’t find how to auto top up or update card details

My auto top up suddenly stopped working. Want to update my card details, app is so hard to use. It also didn’t let me login all morning until the afternoon. Terrible and frustrating experience, still can’t work out how to auto top off, tooltip said check setting and I can’t find it. Mobile website also isn’t allowing me to auto top up.

Terrible

I hate ptv make it free

Not user friendly with mykis

Managing your families mykis is terrible. You can’t delete old ones and there is a limit, so when they expire or lost they are stuck on there. You can’t rename them without changing your whole account.

Is this the best we get?

Honestly can’t understand the high rating for this app, everything digital to do with public transport in VIC feels like an afterthought. Real time tracking is almost always misleading; telling me the bus is one minute away when the map tracker shows it to be much further. Favourite stops and routes constantly get removed because Transport Victoria seems to always be fixing mistakes in their online information. The fact the app is still called PTV when they don’t even exist anymore says everything.

Good app

Amazing, easy app to use and so helpful my. This app has made my life so much easier and better!!!!!

Auto Top Up

Instructions on the PTV App about how to activate auto top up is very obscure and difficult to find.

Great, Except Auto Log-Out

It's a good app, but the maximum 30-day log-in period seems crazy. I don't understand why we cannot just remain permanently logged-in to our account in the app, similar to banks, etc. Would appreciate an explanation, if there is a good reason this is the case.

Latest update a backwards step

App told me my train departed at 6.15. Arrived at 6.14 to see the (scheduled) 6.14 train leaving. The departure time shown in the app was a “live” estimate!!! In this case a wrong one. Since you can’t get it right you need to go back to the scheduled times!!

Good overall poor disruption communication

Would love to see a tiered disruption system, and notifications for planned works/disruptions on saved journeys.

Strive for a more perfect app

This app works in a predictable way about 70 percent of the time on buses, almost 100 percent on trams and trains. It’s great when it works. But there are “ghost” buses that are due in ten minutes and then disappear; buses that may have a broken GPS and appear without warning. Or is it the app that has a glitch in that latter case? I would estimate that there are software issues as well as hardware problems in the system. Please strive for a more perfect union between the bus and the app.

Make ‘disruptions’ dismissible

If your line has ongoing disruptions on it such as carpark closures, the disruptions alert will indicate with the orange circle

This induces a ‘cry wolf’ scenario where you end up ignoring it as most of the time the disruption is not impacting you

When there is an actual problem like a track fault, you end up finding out when you get to the station because you’ve ignored the persistent orange circle.

If you could dismiss the carpark closure notification , then you would more likely see the actual disruption and made alternate travel arrangements

So bad

Rubbish

Replacement buses on Williamstown line

The replacement bus service to get to Spotswood was excellent. We got off at North Melbourne and caught a bus which stopped at stations along the way to Spotswood. BUT the PTV App told us to get off at Flagstaff, then catch a bus to Sth Kensington, then catch another replacement bus to Spotswood. At Flagstaff the buses went express to Sunshine so we had to get a train back to Southern Cross (doubling back where we had come from), to get a train to Nth Melbourne. What a lot of misinformation and waste of time!! Grr!!
