FAQ

What is the Tourist Refund Scheme mobile application?

This is the official mobile application from the Department of Home Affairs for lodging Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) claims. It allows you to enter all the necessary information for your claim directly on your mobile device.

How does the app help with lodging a TRS claim?

The app lets you input your purchase details and store them on your device. You can edit your claim over multiple sessions and, once complete, it generates a QR code. This QR code is your TRS claim code, which you present to an officer at the TRS counter.

Will using the app make my TRS claim faster?

Yes, if you successfully enter your claim details using the app, processing your claim at the TRS counter when you depart Australia should be faster. You will also be able to use a dedicated queue for lodging your TRS claim.

Is there a cost to use the Tourist Refund Scheme app?

No, the Tourist Refund Scheme mobile application is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements associated with the app.

What information do I need to use the app?

You will need to enter information related to your eligible purchases, such as item details, purchase dates, and amounts. You will also need to present your TRS claim code (the QR code generated by the app) and your tax invoice to an officer at the TRS counter upon departure.
