Unusable

I’ve been using this app every day throughout 2026. Only recently did they implement ads, and now you have to watch an ad, or click through one that takes easily 20+ seconds to finish, otherwise pay $35 annually. For such a simple app, this is ridiculous. It is basically unusable since it requires 20+ seconds of advertising every single day to log your drinks. I get having ads, but every single day? This app is not advanced enough to require ads for every single use. I used to love this app—not anymore.

The Free Ads are Terrible

I would have just kept the free version and watched the ads no problem.

The ads were these stupid game ads that were impossible to understand how to navigate. I would have to play the game for a little. Fine.

Then I would have to close out of the app because it was impossible to figure out how to get past it.

I understand the need for ads to make an app profitable! I really don’t mind watching them for a little bit. But the way these ads were are terrible. I really like the idea and the app so I ended up paying for it.

Great app, but the ad system has gotten out of control

The core function of this app is to log how many drinks you have each day, so you can see how long you’ve kept a sobriety streak, or track statistics in your alcohol consumption. It does this exceptionally well, with a beautiful UI and fun friend features to boot. Myself and some friends have been on it for most of 2026 now.

Recently, I’ve been prompted to watch an ad every now and then when I go to log my drinks for the day. I used to be able to close the app, reopen it, and log it no problem. As of today, I have no choice but to watch an ad to log that I had zero drinks today. This absolutely ruins the user experience, and if it doesn’t change it is likely that I will no longer use Drylendar.

An alternative could be like Duolingo, where you see the ad AFTER you complete your lesson. Being forced to watch an ad to use the primary function of this app absolutely ruins it.
