Agree with Chicken Monkey

Nothing but issues lately, I have two Arc models that constantly disconnect on their own. Actually turned off via the app and it deleted it! Trying to reinstall after reset and it “can’t” because it says it already has a program. Super bummed.

Great products

I installed an ESP ME Modular display and use it with the app very easily! John at Tech Support was extremely helpful, courteous and knowledgeable! He explained what to do to re-establish connectivity using 2.4 GHz WiFi. I am very pleased with the app as well. Thank you RainBird and John for excellent Tech Support!

Junk!

Never connects and constantly has issues! Overpriced junk!

Nice upgrade

Nice upgrade on the interface verses the last app and it is faster/more responsive . Minus one star for connectivity issues and requiring a 2.4 ghz network for the app to work well with the controller.

Horrible app. Don’t update

Version 1 was so much better. This app is trying to steal location. Do not update if you have not updated. Once updated I could not go back to old app. Reset everything. So it had to redo all the set up. Why do you need precise location?

POS 2.0

Would have loved to try this app given the roughly 30% success rate I have connecting to my controller using the original app. Unfortunately this app doesn’t sync with the old one, doesn’t accept my username, and won’t send an email to me with my real username despite me entering every email address I have. I love the features of the rain bird controllers but their software and remote control hardware is just abysmal.

Version 2.0 far worse than original

Poor connection issues, and rain delay glitched and held a 2 day delay for a week (until I logged in and noticed)

App changes make it useless

It’s been great having an app where you can control each individual zone, set timing, etc. Now, it seems a lot of that functionality was just removed and it’s completely bare bones. Not sure if this is going to be some push to purchase a subscription or access to “premium” features like controlling your own sprinkler zones.

App sucks

Got a new sprinkler system (long story) and they installed the rainbird controller. I want my old Rachio controller back desperately. App sucks. Connectivity is horrible. Forces resets that lose all info. I will be finding a new controller very soon. I can’t express how much I dislike this controller and this app and their horrible afterthought WiFi connectivity. Save yourself the trouble. Don’t ever buy this.

Inconsistent Connectivity

This app is a hit or miss I always have to force close the app at least twice before I can manually water. Right now the app says I have no controllers. Rainbird developers please look into this it is frustrating

Frequent issues

Once it’s set up, it does okay, but heaven forbid you want to change anything or run it manually. Inevitably, something in the app malfunctions and the only solution I’ve found is to delete the app, download it again, and completely rebuild the programs. So frustrating.

Poor functionality, hard to use, why does that app need my phone’s location?

Poor functionality and hard to use. Not very intuitive. And for some reason it requires your iPhone’s location even though you may be in another state than where your Rain Bird device. Doesn’t make any sense, developers need to fix this dumb requirement. If they don’t fix it I’m going to have to trash my sprinkler and go with another device with a better and more intuitive app. Please fix.

Horrible app

The app always bugged in a station. Seems older version was better

Stinks

Hardly ever connects to controller even if the WiFi is good. Not a good app

Trash Product

Rainbird used to be a great brand but with the new app and products that only work via the app it’s frustrating. Disconnects constantly. Won’t reconnect. Have to delete the app and reinstall multiple times before it connects only to disconnect again before the next scheduled watering. Killed $10,000 worth of sod when we went on vacation and couldn’t regulate the controller. Take the product back to that pre if you e already bought it and go with a different brand altogether.

Half-baked

The required cloud communication is really bad and completely unnecessary. It doesn’t give me anything that I don’t have before, except problems.

When I manually run programs the app doesn’t properly keep track of the time that it runs and doesn’t update properly. The programs just sit there in the Water List, not finishing. Can’t run any other programs. The same program, which runs for 2 minutes, is stuck in there counting down for 15 seconds and not completing.

I have constant issues connecting to my ESP-ME3. I never had issues connecting with the old app.

I have a perpetual error in the app for alarms detected for low and high flow, even though I re-programmed my flow meter after upgrading to this app and re-learned the flows.

The old RainBird app has 5 stars on the iOS store. This new one has 2.

You need to give your users a way to revert back to the old app.

Edit: Ever since the upgrade to 2.0 I have constant connectivity issues. Every time I get logged out of the RainBird app my ESP-ME3 loses connectivity and the only way to get it back online is to remove the ESP-ME3 entirely from the app and go through the entire re-install. So rad when it’s 1am and I’m trying to turn the morning sprinkler program off so I can mow. The ONLy way to fix it is to go outside and reinstall it through the app. I never had this problem with the old app, it worked fine for 5 years… this new app and cloud bs is hot garbage.

Rain bird 2.0 issue

In using the new 2.0 I feel rain bird has went down, I feel the intent was there however they’re developers failed and fell short on making improvements to the original 1.0, I have attempted to downgrade the system due to the inconsistency and issues plaguing 2.0 the developers did not take the end user in the consideration they’ve just implement their direction and you either like it or don’t use it.

I would recommend Rainbird users stay with 1.0 or move to a different system

Bricked my Link2 - so aggravating

After finally trying to migrate to the new app I was first annoyed that none of your settings port over. You have to essentially redo the whole thing.

What makes me even more mad is while doing the setup, I had a firmware update forced on me. I started the update but got some sort of wifi stability error message after a few minutes and now the Link2 is stuck in some weird loop.

I’ve tried all of the reset and clearing procedures but nothing is working.

Seems like the controller equipment only works on 2.4GHz and my mesh system has both 2.4 and 5. Forums seem to point to this being an issue and I likely bricked my Link2.

All from trying to connect to an app… so frustrating.

Hoping Rainbird is going to replace the $100+ item for free but we shall see.

If you are doing the update make sure you’re on 2.4 only!

Doesn’t connect

Terrible connection to the controller. It’s frustrating, as I waste so much time for it to keep attempting to connect. Don’t recommend to anyone.

Two Attempts

If I want to set it to just water 1 zone custom water. It never ever works on the first try. It takes 2 attempts to make it run.
