Took my running to a new level!

My coach (Alex) helped me adjust my training schedule and did it from my run times and input on how I felt. Well worth the yearly subscription compared to hiring a coach in person. He gave me super helpful tips and was able to meet with me virtually when I signed up.

Disappointing

Really disappointed in this app and coaching program. I used it last year to train for my first marathon and found it useful and user friendly. Signed up again this year for another marathon training block and find it really glitchy, takes forever to update content, and lacking the coaching interface that I experienced last year. Would not resubscribe, unfortunately.

Cancelled and was still charged. No response

I cancelled my membership before the end of the membership year. My payment method was still charged. I reached out on 2 occasions with no response or acknowledgement. However, they are quick to market to you.

Quite honestly I feel that this application is on cruise control. I graduated away from Garmin to Coros and this app does not integrate. The interface or UX is very 2012.

McMillan Running is way better.

Feels Like It’s in Beta

I used this app to train for a marathon and the app constantly felt like it was in beta. Clunky, poor flow, poor functionality with a lack of thought around how training data is input and useful. Perhaps it’s better for people who run with their phones but for runners who don’t, it’s more or less no better than a notebook with a pen.

Additionally, I felt like the “coaches” they have never actually read my messages. I’m not the best runner ever, but I have a significant background in it and understand training styles and methods. I tried to make it clear up front so I could connect better with the coaches but they gave me what seemed like pre-typed answers or just failed to even read what I wrote.

Finally, they don’t make it clear that changing baseline training data can change your training cycles. When it happened to me they made me feel like I was the idiot who didn’t know what was going on. Which was ridiculous in itself. Why would someone make an app to change training cycles in the middle of a cycle?! The data set shouldn’t be editable when you have a race scheduled in the app.

Anyways, this app has potential, but has a long, LONG way to go.

Coaches are great.

I signed up via NYRR and was really happy with my plan. The coach was great and very responsive to my messages.

The app itself is a little buggy and doesn’t offer the greatest interface, but the content is solid.

Ultimately, the coach and custom plan are where the value is, and I was really happy with both.

Relentlessly inflexible

I was initially excited about this program, but am now extremely frustrated, and there doesn’t even seem to be a way to cancel the service. They give you these little green checkmarks if you complete a run, but… do your long run on a Monday instead of Sunday? Fail. Skip your rest day on Monday? Fail. Do your daily miles over two runs instead of one? Fail. Any spontaneous interaction with your assigned coach? Nope. I tried to give feedback through the system, couldn’t reach anyone who could actually help. This app and expensive program made me hate running.

App inconsistency

The app has pretty good plans however, it is not very good at tracking you during training. It often lags or will say you ran less miles than you’ve actually run. I cannot rely on the app alone during training. I’m forced to use either an Apple Watch or Nike app to track how many miles and minutes I am actually running. Would y recommend purchasing to someone training for a race due to these issues.

Widgets (Update)

I have used this app for 4 years now. Have subscribed before. It was good on subscription. Even when my subscription ran out used to like the plan it generated and weekly goal tracker.

I wish the price would be tired for features instead of a lump sum.

I also request a widget which can show you your weekly calendar and runs you ran and supposed to run, at least for the premium version.

Very good but needs better interface

Tried other coaching apps, but this has worked the best for me. The only issue I have is that the interface during a training run isn’t really designed for older people. Instructions for the segment are in small light blue type that doesn’t contrast well with the background. And it would be nice to see what the next segment is (like you can in Intervals Pro)

Subscription price and features

I have used this app for 4 years now. Have subscribed before. It was good on subscription. Even when my subscription ran out used to like the plan it generated and weekly goal tracker. But now the price is ridiculous. And on free version there is no more weekly goal tracking. Not cool. Now I am looking for other apps and there are so many good apps out there. My review is to see if this feedback helps the app improve your subscription model. If you want to make money make it a tiered approach. If coaches are costly make them a separate purchase. Don’t remove syncing capabilities or weekly goals updates all together. You will loose customers.

Subscribe to sync

I use to be able to sync my Strava data on the free service. You are now forced to subscribe or only get basic info to read through the app. Super disappointing and will be looking for something else to use.

Updates changed the app

Used to be a great app for simply tracking your runs / workouts and having a simple plan to follow. (Run 5 miles today). It had real value before they switched to a subscription model just to be able to sync your device. With all the other option out there it doesn’t seem worth it anymore. I can understand subscription if you’re looking for guided workouts etc. I would recommend they move to an ad based model for casual users who just want a simple marathon plan and a place to track workouts that makes sure they are following the plan without having to manually enter everything.

Charges users to sync?

I’ve used this app for 3 years. Just came back from an injury hiatus to find out they now want you to pay 200$ a year for me to sync my device?! No thanks. Apps and streaming services are getting so out of hand with all the monthly fees for services that used to be free.

Removed features to subscription

Previously free features like health sync or device sync (Strava, etc) have been moved to a subscription. I’ll be leaving this system behind and looking elsewhere.

Keeps Crashing - disappointing

I’d love to use this (and used to use My Run Plan, which had the same basic features) but the app keeps crashing after login. Hard to use if it won’t stay open.

Can’t switch between miles and km?!?

I’m using the paid version of the app and when I toggle between miles and km my entire program resets. The advice I got from the paid “coach” is to not adjust the settings. This seems like a pretty basic feature for a running app!

Run Coach

Don’t waste your time, energy or money with this APP. I’ve tried a lot of APPS, and this is one of the biggest wastes I’ve encountered.

Buggy!

The app is so buggy. It often won’t open at all, and gets stuck on “we’re warming up.” To pay over $100 for a program to train for NYC marathon, I am very disappointed. I like the plan when I am able to open it so I will continue to use when it will open.

Poor First Impression

I was provided free access to the app through an upcoming marathon. It is impossible to adjust days of the week for specific activities - what if I don't want to do my cross training on the days forced upon me? Why can't I include more recent race times to better reflect my current status/fitness? I was under the impression that the app/program was a real coaching experience and not just an algorithm deciding workouts. Will likely delete the app and abandon the program.

Good coach feedback but very glitchy

Been using this for a few days now and pretty impressed with the feedback from the coach. I was planning on purchasing a subscription once my free trial is up, but the app itself has been glitching the last couple of the days to the point that I have not even accessed my training calendar. At first, it was a login issue and then this morning when I was finally able to log in, I still couldn’t see my training plan and when I try to hit the Coach button, the whole app crashes. Very frustrating. That said, not sure anymore if I will proceed with the subscription. This app is good in theory, but if you can’t get it to work, then there’s really no point.
