Great if no problems
App and pickup/delivery work well when they work, although it's somewhat cluttered and tricky to navigate coupons etc. But....when the puller messages that an item is out of stock they don't wait for an answer about a substitution, they close out the order as complete and you cannot talk to them any more.! And if you need the item, and order just the one item you are forced to use the chat to request refund of minimum order fee, and then again when you receive it. The chat is AWFUL. Have to request live agent and then they don't stay in the chart either! They want the order number when they can simply look up your account but name and phone#.

Difficult to follow activity. For example summary of choices made, ads or coupons clipped. No explanation of “digital coupons”.
Blocks VPN users
Disappointed that the Safeway app won’t let you log in or use it while connected to a VPN. In 2026, using a VPN is a basic privacy practice, not a red flag. Blocking it feels like the app cares more about tracking user location/behavior than respecting how people choose to protect their data online. Please add support for VPN connections — forcing users to disable their privacy tools just to check a grocery list or clip a coupon is a bad look. Until this changes, I can’t recommend the app.
