great when it works
been using this app for almost 4 years and the last 4 months have been full of issues. lock/unlock doesn’t work anymore. lights don’t work. if things do work, it’s a whole minute delayed. more of a hassle than anything now. have deleted and redownloaded twice and doesn’t help.

Worst app you will ever use
There is no way the app is this bad on purpose. This isn’t the work of the world’s slowest programmers. This app is so bad the only solution is that the glaring flaws are intentional. Do not use this app if you can help it.
Do you need to get into your apartment or home? Well too bad! The app logs you out constantly, even after selecting the meaningless leave me logged in tab.
So you have keys that don’t work. Cool. Don’t worry! The ac and heat controls only work half the time as well. And there is zero customer support, so get used to deafening silence.
Avoid this joke of an app at all costs.

Poorly designed automations and support agent
The app works really well if you are manually controlling your temperature, but if you set up an automation it is merely a reminder to trigger a process rather than an actual automation, which apparently nobody told their support agent about
Usage
I never like it from the start however today it wouldn’t unlock so that brought on an entirely different problem. The office was closed when I got home from work. I had to do a B&E in my own spot.
This is taking longer than expected.
Garbage. Loaded with groceries and it won’t unlock. How does the app know my hands are full and to not unlock the doors??
IOS CarPlay capability
I really wish this app was compatible with CarPlay. It would make life so much easier
Lock not working
The app does not open well and the lock does not stay online.
Signal
The service & signal is terrible. Everything I try to do takes about 5 times
Controls don’t always work
Very irritating when I’m gone and I know the temperature is a bit too high for my 2 cats and I try to turn up the air…and it doesn’t work. Scary even.
Inconsistent
For an app that has access to my front door, the lack of consistency in it working is scary. Lately it won’t turn off lights, change the thermostat, or any of its core functions. Doesn’t seem they’re in a rush to fix this issue either.
Glitches
When you try to manage access it gets you to manage dashboard page instead. Definitely a glitch. Lacks simple features like degrees Celsius scale.
Doesn’t work on iPhone.
This app doesn’t start on my iPhone 16. I spent numerous hours with SmartRent application support trying to troubleshoot this bug issue. They were unable to fix this issue, so I cannot even open this application.
App constantly logs you out
This app constantly logs you out which defeats the purpose of some features like bluetooth to unlock. Developers seem to be too incompetent to fix the ongoing issue
Drops stored password
This app was great last year. It worked to unlock and lock my door reliably.
As of early July 2026 update, this app surprises me by behaving like it was freshly installed. I need to re-enter username and password.
Two bags of groceries, trying to get in my door, and this app suddenly decides it never met me.
Please fix this.

Fix the Watch App!
The Apple Watch app constantly says “Sign In Required” even though I AM signed in and use the iPhone app daily. If I have to pull my phone out, open the app, log out, and log back in just to make the watch app work, then the watch app is worthless!
Horrible
The app is always off-line. It will not let you reset a code. It is truly always off-line. It’s ridiculous.
Basic functionality is fine but unintuitive
App works fine and does what it is supposed to. Many poor UX features though. For example, when setting a schedule, it is hard to tell when you select the up and down buttons whether the numbers will increase or decrease.
Junk
The door never operates how it’s supposed to. I always have to put my code in at least three times. The app sucks. Every day it say “This is taking longer than normal”. I hate using it.
Absolutely trash
I’m forced to pay $130 a month at my apartment for this garbage that doesn’t even work. The door regularly doesn’t unlock, and I can’t control the temperature on my thermostat anymore. Completely ridiculous. I would imagine all of the high ratings are mostly bots because I’ve read nothing but terrible reviews. And don’t get me started on the security risks.
