Holds promise
Got a span 40 panel a year ago. For the most part it’s doing its job well. I use it in conjunction with Tesla Powerwall3. I like the backup flexibility it provides me turning some circuits off in a blackout to significantly increase my backup time . The app does need some more maturity especially around customization, how it handles data and robustness of connectivity. That’s it’s one weak point - its connectivity is a bit iffy.

$7,500 for two "smart" panels that do less than $500 dumb ones. Save your money.
Two SPAN 48 panels, ~$7,500 all in. What did that premium buy? Nothing that works.
Problem one: I own two panels and the app can't show them together. No unified view. You literally toggle back and forth between panels like it's 2005. SPAN's answer? They'll "share my feedback with the Product Team." Translation: it doesn't exist and won't anytime soon.
Problem two: my Tesla battery still isn't integrated. SPAN won't do it, won't walk me through it, won't do anything remotely — just endlessly repeats that my installer has to call them. So I'm stranded between a support team that refuses to act and an installer who's slow to show. Zero ownership from anyone.
Every reply is the same scripted "we sincerely apologize" and "thank you for your patience" with no fix, no timeline, no accountability. Empathy macros are not support.
Bottom line: I paid luxury money for a panel that can't unify my own two units, can't finish a battery integration, and answers every failure with a canned apology. A $500 dumb panel would've done everything I actually needed without the runaround. Don't buy SPAN. The "smart" is marketing; the incompetence is real.

Not Great For Older Home
There is not enough room to label the breakers on this app. We have a house that was built in the late 70’s and some wiring goes to multiple rooms and areas. The page to label the breakers is also dark and hard to read. Why do I need to have an email sent to me so I can print out the sheet to keep with the breaker panel?

Way too many bugs
Turning circuits back on often doesn’t work. The switch goes on but the circuit never goes back on. Try several times and not luck. After 25+ times can get it to turn on. Unbelievable. Furthermore features claimed on website are not available in the new products. Support is hopeless and overseas.
Haven’t used for backup but I have lack of confidence in it. Very expense to have installed. Feel like a big mistake

App and hardware are junk
Ive had the span panel for almost 2 years now. I’ve had priority circuits go off when power events happen, engaged with support which proved worthless and the span app is complete garbage. Just buy a regular electrical panel and monitor it some other way.
