App and hardware are junk
Ive had the span panel for almost 2 years now. I’ve had priority circuits go off when power events happen, engaged with support which proved worthless and the span app is complete garbage. Just buy a regular electrical panel and monitor it some other way.
Cool App But Buggy
The last version 3.18 has been freezing a lot on my iPad Pro. It will work for a minute or so, and then it would lock up which would require the app to be forced closed.
Since multiple products are connected to some circuits, it is also not accurate in showing electricity usage. This is true despite me listing every device on each circuit.

Missing fundamental features
I have two span panels, but due to the models of them the app does not integrate both of them. Therefore I have to have separate sign ins for each panel, log off/login when I want to view each respective panel, and there are no integrated insights. This is fundamental flaw for me impacting their better customer. I will re review once this issue is resolved.

Fix this, please
Since this latest app update in 4/2026 every time I open the app, it launches a web browser to an advert for “ SPAN edge, intelligent service point” way to piss off your paying customers.
The Most Important Control is Hidden
The control titled “Custom Priority Order” in the PowerUp feature is hidden at the bottom of the page that you get to by clicking on “How It Works” in the PowerUp page. This control is the main reason I bought a Span Panel, and yet the app developers have hidden it in a place that’s hard to find rather than putting it where it should be, in the main PowerUp page. In addition, the graphic on the main PowerUp page is unclear and is not explained anywhere that I can find. To me, this feels like Span wants to use the PowerUp feature to sell the product, but doesn’t want the customer to actually find the control and use it.
Update: my panel now reports that I have not used any energy yesterday or today. Clearly false. If this is representative, it seems it’s not very reliable.

Need to force quit
The app works well, but I often have to swipe to force close it to get it to work. If I don’t, it just shows the elements with no flows.
Lag and delayed
This app is an embarrassment for a company claiming to provide offer a smart electrical panel. Often the data is wrong, fails to load and stalls.
No features pr updates in years
No features or updates in years, original panels dont even get new interface. Monitors less than a $200 sense
Time of Day Plans needs Work
I have a time of day plan that provides truly free nights (at the cost of higher rates during day), but the app refuses to acknowledge that my Off Peak cost is $0.00/Kwh. Please fix. Warn a user that $0.00/Kwh may be wrong, but don’t block them from using that value, as some of us DO have that as the cost at certain times of the day. (Tesla’s powerwall accepted $0.00/Kwh as a cost for off-peak… deep state.)

Crickets from help desk
The app loses connectivity with my batteries so frequently I have given up trying to rely on it as a way to keep track of anything related to my solar array. The promise of the span product is great, but the reality is sadly and predictably nothing close to the mark. This is especially troubling after an outage and only portions of the 240v circuitry come back online in a way that can only be remedied by the support team. Troubling turns into outright anxiety when the batteries go offline and many (4+ and counting) attempts to get help go unacknowledged. Now I need to contact my installer to learn how to manage this system without input from the span panel's backbone tech. Messy.

Not good
App solar production figures are not reliable. Span app shows solar production in the middle of the night. When I get a power outage the system does not function as intended. I loose power to breaker that should always stay on. The hours and minutes estimated on my battery during a power outage are ALWAYS incorrect by a lot. The customer service is horrible. It’s mostly email based and they take forever to answer back. I’ve yet had a single issue taken care of by span. Save your money and wait for a better system from a better company that has a better app.

Not great for the best customers
I have two span panels a 32 and a 48 that are linked together. The app does not support this integration though and I actually need totally separate accounts and logins to see the two panels, and they do not accurate together. This is very inconvenient and disappointing given wha I’ve spent to have these panels on a brand new install. If they can add this feature my rating would definitely change!

Unreliable app
Setup was a pain, and now the app is in a cycle of constant loading — can’t get past the loading screen!
No Powerwall 2 Support
New SPAN 48 Panel suffers from bad firmware issues so data is unreliable. No powerwall 2 support for it either. Internet is required to control circuits even on local network. Responsiveness turning breakers on and off is hokey at best. Takes several tries when switching things on and off. My biggest issue is the lack of powerwall 2 support though.

When are you gonna fix the ‘areas’ feature for multi panel set ups?
Constant Reporting Problems
SPAN 48 does not support Powerwall 2, so only circuit monitoring. Without Powerwall 2 support, there is no solar or battery information provided.
Unfortunately circuit monitoring is always breaking, but no clarity as to why. Keep opening support requests. Works temporarily but stops reporting after awhile. SPAN panel is hardwired to Ethernet so no reason for it to lose internet connectivity.
Finally the crappiest thing I find with the panel is that it doesn’t function offline. I cannot control it from within my local network.
So the app as is, is pretty lame. Would not recommend anyone get SPAN panel. Loved the idea, but highly disappointed.

Limited Usefulness in Older Homes and Some Poor App Design
The Span App has some interesting information if the circuits in your house are all perfectly associated with you breakers - and that is not usually the case in an older home. In that case expect a significant project of mapping circuits to make the information useful. Not the fault of Span, but without it the usefulness is greatly diminished. For some reason Span makes changing the password a bizarre experience where the current password cannot be displayed, copy and paste are not allowed, and oftentimes the password doesn’t “take”. Rarely have had issues with any other apps.

Buyer beware! Not compatible
You will need two separate logins if you have different panels. Some of their new panels and not compatible with some of their other new panels. You will need to have two totally separate emails and logins. Not worth it.
App says panel is offline when it’s not
Title says it all. App won’t work and won’t read any settings. I can access the panel from my laptop, so it is online.
Still Not a Dependable Home Automation App
Have been running this app with solar panels and backup batteries for over two years. If you're expecting continuous, up-to-date monitoring of your system, forget it. App bombs or just quits 2-3 times daily and many times displays data that is hours old. If it's designed as a "check-in a few times a day" app, they should say so. Also, inexplicably, it recently deleted my entire panel backup instructions for grid outages. And, while it says it fully integrates and supports my battery vendor, it reliably reports a 4 kWh difference with the actual battery charge level. You would think a technology advanced product like Span would be supported with a sound, high quality app. Not so at all.
