Terrible App Now
Splitwise used to be awesome but it’s become unusable. Causes so much group confusion when used. It’s like they don’t bother having a single employee try the app out to see how confusing and broken the actual experience is.
Great app for splitting costs for group trips
We’ve used this app many times before. Makes splitting costs for our group travels very easy.
Not correctly calculated
Watch out because the app does not correctly add everything up! The amount displayed at the top is wayyy wrong and when you click into the events, the amounts are different than what the app is saying you owe when you aren’t clicked into the event. We have been spending an hour trying to figure out what we actually owe people because this app is not remotely correct.

Won’t let me continue without upgrading to pro.
I’m in the middle of a group trip and can’t upload anymore expenses without paying for pro.
Making payments outside of Splitwise
I made a payment outside of Splitwise. Splitwise sent me my monthly balance and at the bottom of the email provided instructions on how to “settle up” payments made outside of the app. There is no clear “settle up” option AND the help does not bring up articles on how to “settle up” or “managing payments done outside of the app”. Thanks to the follow up from the Splitwise developers, this issue is now resolved.
