Payments

I get paying for step black but to pay just to have less than 20$ transferred into the account is just bs

Opened and immediately closed.

Unlinks your linked accounts every single day. Transfers into the account take a whole week so you couldn’t send additional funds quickly in an emergency or if they are out of town/with other parent. Using this as a teen debit card is simply not feasible.

Deeply flawed

I started using the app successfully several months ago and my credit line increased from $50
to $150 quickly. But then my debit card was replaced due to fraud and Step made me reapply as though I was brand new. Eligibility dropped back to $50. Just days ago, Step did the same thing- told me to delete my connection and reapply. Then it denied me saying my balance was too low but it wasn't. Multiple emails to support resulted in no action. Just kept repeating talking points about "the system." I canceled and I'd stay away if I were you. Many other fintech apps offer much better customer service.

Don’t even need to use it for credit points

There’s a ton of ways this app helps you save money and improve your credit, it’s actually very cool this exists. But even when I leave a few bucks in my account, it improves my credit by a few points. Highly recommend. Especially if you got a kiddo. You can make an account connected to yours to easily pay them allowance and such. :) easy af and gives them an early start on their credit as well.
